Possum antics at the birdbath
Early this morning 4/11/2024, two Ring-Tailed possums crash down from a tree onto the birdbath.

Feeding behaviour of nesting Adelaide Rosella pair
Просмотров 111День назад
Late yesterday we saw typical feeding behaviour of the male and nesting female birds in the nesting box. With the female on the 4 hatchlings most of the time, the male gathers seeds and other feed to bring to the female for her to then feed the chicks. Later when the hatchlings are larger and need more food, both parents will feed them often.

21/10/2024 this very pretty hybrid Rosella comes and a checks out the Eastern Rosella in the nesting box. Perhaps part Eastern and part Adelaide Rosella. This one didn’t hang around and disturb the female and her 4 hatchlings.
4 healthy active Adelaide Rosella chicks

Great to see the 4 hatchlings all active this morning, 21/10/24. Just the one remaining egg to hatch, maybe today, maybe tomorrow. All past season eggs have hatched more in line with egg laying, one hatches per day or every second day, this is the first time we’ve seen 4 in a day like this . . . the female possibly assisted them, as she seemed to be tucking her head beneath her at times through...

20/10/24 late pm, the 4 hatchlings today are all doing well, even chick #1 we thought was weak and might die. The female leaves the nest for 5 minutes, likely to feed.

Adelaide Rosella chicks 2 and 3 hatch, same day as chick #1
Просмотров 28814 дней назад
20/10/24 - Chicks 2 and 3 follow chick number one that hatched earlier this morning. We were concerned chick one moved away from the eggs / others, and was quite still for periods of time . . . but it gradually crawled back, fed by the female, and eventually back with the other 2 siblings and last egg. Just the one egg to go and it might be today also.

beautiful 💗💗like and sub 👍👍
very nice 💗💗👍👍
Thanks, these birds are beautiful for sure, nad between all our nesting boxes, we get a variety of Rosellas, Rainbow Lorikeets, and Pardalotes breeding through the season. We must get 30 or so young birds flying off from our nesting boxes every year, it's very satisfying.

Где это птица?
We are in Adelaide South Australia. Rosellas are found here in 2 main varieties and some variations, we even see hybrids with unique colours / patterns we usually don't find. Here is Adelaide we get mostly Eastern Rosellas (Platycercus eximius), and Adelaide Rosellas (Platycercus elegans adelaidae/subadelaidae), seen in my video posts of the nesting / general videos. Rosellas are believed to have been introduce here thousands of years ago from Africa, and now besides in this country, they can be found in New Zealand and a few other Pacific islands. They are protected here, but I just had a search and found that native birds breed in captivity can be exported, I imagine they are expensive to obtain, but I also read that "only zoos and conservationist breeders with zoological affiliations may receive exported birds from Australia." I see them in videos obviously produced in other countries, so who knows for sure. Thanks for the comments, they really are beautiful birds.

Thanks Guys for saving cute souls and Guys you are really beautiful angels on the earth 🌍😇🙏🙏🙏🙏🤗♥️💕🌹💖🌺😋👍💪
Thanks for that . . . we are certainly trying our best with these chicks. The last ones about 2 months ago, 6 healthy Eastern Rosellas left with no issues, flew like champions, but were right on time fledging. Not sure why these ones really wanted to go early, but the box was full of very tiny mites I noticed when cleaning out the box. The chicks might have been being driven mad by them, I'm covered in bites and they are maddening at night trying to sleep. Anyway, we have had around 45 - 50 various species of parrots and other native birds hatch and leave successfully this season so far. The Pardalotes will keep going for a while longer I feel, but parrots are now getting too late to breed as it will be boiling hot come February here. All the best to you for 2024.
Agreed! Nuts!
Hae, you are really lucky. This is really awesome seeing this video. Which camera you are using?
Thanks for the comment. Yes, the garden attracts a lot of birds, and we really like seeing many hatchlings each year, more and more Rosellas, Lorikeets the past 4-5 years and many other smaller birds too. Pardalotes, New Holland Honeyeaters are regular breeders in the boxes or nests they build. Cameras. Inside the box is a Reolink RLC520a and outside a UVC-G3-FLEX Ubiquiti UniFi Protect cam.
He is anxious and bored, he needs to go out for walks more
Far from it. Please read my other reply to the first comment. ... Oh, the original comment was deleted by the looks, they said get a bigger yard, yet that camera shows just 1/40th or so of our suburban block. Another 'dog whisperer' came up with she's bored too, I replied more there too.
She is bored.
No, although she’s still quite young (17 months) this behaviour is very unusual for her. She gets plenty of walks, car rides / outings, beach, dog park play, etc. She just loves to let go sometimes.
I was expecting it to really bite into that tail.
She’s always liked trying to catch it, and learned to sit on it to ‘win’ that game. Funny how dogs have unique characters just like humans.
Did any of the hatchlings get stung?
No not that I could see. Good news is the scouts haven’t been back more than a couple of times since the tip gap was made, and with summer now started here it will be great for some more ventilation for the chicks and adults. Still waiting on egg #6 to hatch, hopefully today I expect.
I would not call that crappy Les, pretty good camera work while overtaking ide say, and im pretty sure your right about the trailers being specifically made for the mining ind. 3 doubles and 2 singles probably 3x40 footers and 2 x 20 footers plus prime mover probably close to 200 feet in total at a guess. Carring ore no doubt. Cheers
Thanks mate, was out of focus a bit, but realised later due to window glass most likely. Just though it at least shows just how bog some of these mining trucks are out that way, much like the ore trains !! One of my drone vids taken same trip shows this really well, find on youtube by searching VvhdOaMw8m8

For a guess he's doing 113-114. Considering you are 6 under the limit
Your rosella box nest is awesome!
Thanks ! The chicks are leaving the nest now, one yesterday morning, and one this morning. Uploaded these and videos between on the channel. Cheers.
Nice❤
Thanks 🙂 They could very well be fledging this morning, very close now in latest updates.
Check in every AM
Yep we check cams many times a day. Will post more this coming week or two for sure.
WOW !!! How bloody exciting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"promo sm"
Are you still using this? Is it too noticeable? Also does the GPS lock in fast and how did you enable it to show the coordinates? Thanks man
Yes, it’s still working perfectly ! GPS locks in pretty much by the time you drive off straight after start up . . . could vary in different parts of the planet though. Coordinates come up on video recorded, not sure if you can turn that off but it would probably be on as standard along with date / time, which of course can be programmed in and changed.
There are plenty of caves in the Nullarbor that aren't marked on a map and have no roads going to them. I've ben inside a couple, the bigger ones have 100's of aboriginal handprints, and the limestone is covered in marine fossils. 30+ degrees outside, the caves feel like an air conditioned room.
So eerily beautiful. Nice work!!!
Thanks Lisa :)
Wow there's a cop on the road. Never seen that before. I'm really glad I saw this because I had no idea they used cars on a public road. Did I miss something, what was the point of this video ?
Just to give you something to bitch about.
Dude he was checking you out big time !!!
He might have been, slowed down a fair bit coming up alongside. Might have been doing rego : licence checks I guess. Was SA plates in NSW.
@@lesskinner8588 I have no doubt he was scanning everything about your car haha!
@@faronanderson2536 Was probably checking to make sure his vehicle was in accordance with NSW Laws as SA and NSW have different road rules, regs etc I believe :) Would of been close enough to notice the SA plate I guess

If one has the will and money...anything is possible?
Absolutely. A shame the owners descendants seem to rather them just slowly rust away.
I actually wanted to see the cave not just the entrance
How Deep is The Cave looks so scary from the Air
Not sure Edward, one of them you can walk into, and you can see little ledges around you could investigate, these often lead to chambers beyond. The other 2 you'd need rope or wire ladder to get down into, and I bet there are passage ways you could follow, caverns etc. Caving can be very claustrophobic, although I didn't have gear to explore these, I have done caves down the SE of our state, and through tunnels like rabbit warrens (only human crawling size), and yeah I have felt the panic a few times.
@@lesskinner8588 ok thanks but I can explore the caves because I'm an Aboriginal person from another state Qld western Cape York peninsula and I'm not a traditional owner of the area sorry but it's good to see it on RUclips thanks for sharing upload more videos please👍🏾👍🏾
Building and canal from the sea to Lake Eyre, keeping full of water would result in constant evaporation. That would put more water into the atmosphere, resulting in more rain for Australia
Could be Graham, it's good to see it like this with some decent water. We did a flight from William Ck airstrip too that trip, and it was awesome from higher up.
What a waste.
Yes a sad probable end to their glorious past. Survived WWII action, but rusting in a paddock.

Yes, Peer's Dump
This is my sons X, and that's about the only time he's let me have a drive, before changing insurance. Now if a crash and he's not driving, a massive excess. The newest firmware / software he has now recognises traffic lights, and stops with traffic. Self driving on the road like this is much more refined / reliable, though he knows when to be careful, like roundabouts with bad linemarking etc.
It’s not showing the road
Believe me, it was there !! Tesla not that good. Yet, ha ha.
should be permanent ...
I bet thats the best footage of these caves on earth right now
Thanks Chris. Sure is an incredible place our Nullabor.
