Another of the many reasons for all the war crimes because of their attitude of disgust for anyone who surrenders. The Japanese know what their ancestors did to all of the countries they invaded and fought against that's why they won't talk about it. Just Sayin'.

my uncle Henry Noska died in the the prison camp after the death march. I always felt the soldiers were left to fight on their own with no support from MacArthur. my deepest respect to all of he soldiers of the philippines.

At 1:17 wasn't a misfire, dumb gunner had his main/coax switch on safe. Happens a lot when they put it on safe and forget to put it back on main.

Very cool footage of the old unit. Both my parents served with the 146th. I was about two when this was filmed. My dad was probably transitioning out of the military and my mom would serve another 14 years with the 146th.

The thermal footage and some daylight footage was shot from the FLIR in the tower at the MPRC FT Hunter-Ligget. One Tank Crew Evaluator (TCE) would operate the FLIR in order to confirm target hits, while another recorded times and a third ran the range, giving prompts and directing the tank. The TCE should have a foreknowledge of where the targets would appear, but that was not always the case as one can see. This footage could be from between 1997 and 2002. The M1IP tanks make it no later than 1999. -Cco 2/185AR

I could be wrong, but I don't remember Camp Roberts having a range that could handle a main gun fire. I would bet this was FT. Hunter-Leggett's MPRC range. 8 Years of gunnery both M60A3 and M1A1 while part of C-1-149AR we always Q'd at MPRC. We did shoot .50 and M240's at Roberts a few times for Table 5 Q's.

My father was in the National Guard, probably Stockton, Ca, when WWII started. I don’t know what unit he served in. After the war he joined the regular army as a Master Sergeant in the Artillery.

Seeing that the comments are disabled on coverage 18th Cav. antics in June 2020, I'll go here. However, I dare say another change of command is desperately need today. Observing US Military USNGCA 18th Cav. personnel , even if not regular USA, on their knees and while being lectured by an actress is a stark indication of the nature and quality of the 18th Cav.'s command leadership and the training of it's soldiers. These people from the top down are poorly trained not combat ready, likely ineffective as a cohesive military command and are undeployable.

This is a great treasure. Thank you to all that participated in bringing this finished product to all of us to enjoy and to appreciate our heritage.
