As far as I know, those are called interlocking bricks/interlocking concrete blocks. Not the same design per se but similar ideology.

I guess in any scenario, you learn from the past and try to incorporate those systems into designs. If you look at any modern or contemporary deaigns there are certain traits you see have been influcenced from historical establishments. I would try and make video about it.
