Antique Pot Lid Prattware Multi Coloured An Introduction an ADORATION No1
Excuse my narrative, this is the only long speech I've done and I aimed to keep it brief and to the points that would provide an introduction but without overloading with detail - that will come in my future videos ! Bye until then
That does look facinating. When was this piece crafted if i may ask?
This is likely to date to the 1850s, its difficult to speculate more precisely and particularly as there are less than a dozen seen on the open market in the past 45 years, the length of time I have been specialising in pot lids and the associated printed wares. The limited number is due to an extremely short period of production. Personally I feel the earlier half of the 1850s as the absence of background detail and no border suggests this might reflect the earlier period of pot lid production (other scenes were produced from the very late 1840s) as the method of acheiving something more technically detailed and complex was not yet possible. I will be posting many further videos about the history, dating, variations on the shapes and sizes as well as showing as many of the 450 plus different scenes that were produced as I am able. So subscribe if you wish to find this with ease !
If you would like more videos on this collecting theme, leave a comment. This was posted to see if there is an interest generally. I can include lots of history and facts and observations in general and specifically for whatever pot lids and Prattware (meaning plates, mugs, jugs, vases, jars cups and saucers etc etc) are being shown
