Tim Follin is a great composer. His use of complex and crazy arpeggios in his melodies fitted so well with early sound chips. Those arps really made that limited hardware shine through. I remember hearing LED storm for the first time on the Spectrum 128k. The arpeggio was like someone firing a machine gun of musical notes at you, and it sounded so good! Even listening today, it still has that magic that you don't often hear in music. I totally get why so many people want to make constant remixes of Tim's music.

I was one of the fans that contacted him back in 2001 asking if he minded if I do a remake of his G&G themes with analog instruments. He was totally cool about it. Eventually I’ll get it done, even if it is 21 years later now.

I KNEW IT! Thank you for putting up this interview. For DECADES I've been thinking that they just really went full on cheesy and charmingly over the top with the spider man xmen game! Just hearing that screaming guitar intro to the title theme let me know exactly what they were going for even as a kid living an ocean away. That's one of my fav video game OSTs of all time. Such a hidden gem. You could really feel how much fun they had dipping into various influences and matching them to the campy, over the top comic book aesthetic. I just started a series reviewing game music and I know Ill be covering that game and maybe the entire Follin library eventually

On part 1, I asked the question, what year is this interview, but hearing him say he worked on the game Starsky and Hutch a "couple of years ago, and that was 2003, so i'd say this interview was around 2005/2006.

  • @namco003

Is there a year for this interview. He looks about in his 30s maybe. Saw a video interview from about October 2019 where he did at a Q&A, and he looks a lot older in that one.
