I get the objection when it's basically fraud if it were to be sold - the shirt isn't name brand but would be sold as. The problem I have is when all of the product is made of that brand and they throw a fit - like someone taking a Burberry purse and turning it into a wallet. The latter should theoretically fall under Fair Use, if it were even an option in fashion like it is in media
Good points! Thanks for joining the conversation.
Buff
I’m curious - tell me the worst India manufacturing story you ever heard? I'll share mine!
Luxury items are for poor people. Look at how billionaires dress… they don’t wear labels. They have to keep it exclusive for people too poor to afford their goods. It’s brand protection yes but it’s going to hurt their image in the long run. Who is running these companies? They are doing a terrible job. I’m looking at you Doir.
Thanks for watching and joining the conversation! Do you think that the brands are justified in their lawsuits or do you think that they are just being spiteful to the detriment of sustainability?
@ I think they show us one face as the brand but in reality there is whole different face they never show us. Look at Chanel and her relationship with the Nazis which no one even talks about anymore!
I think that shows the brand’s core values… which is the profitability. I understand the intention, but at the end of it, it still just an item that can be made by other brands as well. My opinion is that wearing luxurious brands is a bit uneconomical & silly attempt to show you have more than someone else. 😂 just save the bucks and understand that we are not exclusive because of an item.
How do you feel about upcycling luxury fashion?
Buy 2nd hand clothes, save batting scraps to use on crafts and quilts. Go thru old clothing, cotton, for quilts.
I love your resourcefulness!
That woman behind you is really confused why you are filming with her in the background. Are you in a sweatshop?
This comment is proof that the internet has no idea what a sweatshop is.
@alookbehindtheseams bruh it looks like you are in Bangladesh. And they don't do labor ethically over there.
@@andrewearl8926Bruh that sounds like a pretty uninformed and racially biased comment. Your disparaging an entire country’s manufacturing sector and it has literally nothing to do with the video 😂
@alookbehindtheseams it isnt disparaging when its true. Also I said what it looks like. Not what it is. I dont know what it is. It could be a sewing club.
They also did this during WW II in England due to all the rationing.
@@HistorygalAnna awesome 😎! Thanks for sharing and watching the channel it means a lot
wow. industries today would never adjust their packaging to be more useful to the consumer

O my goodness I have a potato sack blanket from my grandma ❤❤ love this piece of history
Thanks for sharing! What a cool thing.
When I buy stuff with really cute packaging, I always keep the packaging and use it for my scrapbooking instead of throwing it away.
I always try to repurpose things like that!
Glass jars for everything! To store sewing items, food leftovers, homemade salsa, iced coffee etc. Cut up shirts are great for cleaning around the house or reusanle toilet paper. Old toothbrushes become little scrubbers for jewelry, laundry or around the house. Pruned branches get dried out to make natural indoor plant poles. Plastic lids become coasters, lids or put under oant pots. Its endless what we can reuse or upcyle! 😊🎉
I love your resourceful ideas!
Wore flour sack dresses - my mom was an amazing seamstress.
It sounds like your mom was really talented!
If you have cotton scraps that you don't really know how to use...buy some beeswax and make your own beeswax wraps :)
Awesome idea! Thanks for sharing
I started a scrap quilt. Litterly layers of scrap leftovers from other projects (mine, MIL, mom, and some from estate sales) I have got two layers done. Was going for a winter but might make it two summer quilts instead.
That's a great idea! I've always wanted to try making a quilt.
@alookbehindtheseams it's a pain the floof but should be nice in the end. This is not by any means what is normally quilting now. Which makes it easierish.
I wear the same like 6 shirts and 8 pants. (And a sports uniform and a bunch of costumes) if I’m not wearing one of those I’ve been kidnapped and replaced with a clone
I’m a big proponent of the 30 wears challenge. I tell everyone try and wear every piece of clothing you own at least 30 times.
I don't have regular cups. It is all reused bottles and jars- bonus it makes them transportable, just throw on a lid. I also have no issue if they walk away. I really love knee high socks and when they wear out, I cut off the bottom to make arm warmers.
That's a great way to repurpose old socks, thanks for sharing!
One last thing… I want to challenge you. What can you reuse in your home right now?

Are you the owner of this factory and company?
Thanks for watching!
I worked at a fish processing plant, and they do the same thing with the packages that come out of the factory. Never know when a screw falls off and ends up in a bag of fish.
That is so interesting but it makes sense, thanks for sharing!
That’s so interesting 😮 I never realized that was a problem manufacturers had to look out for

Polyester made my foot neuropathy worse. I never listened to the hype, just my body.
That sucks! Do you strictly wear natural fibers now?
@alookbehindtheseams yeah I wear cotton socks when possible and then just barefoot it. My feet are always freezing but I hate the feeling of socks lol. I do well with cotton socks, threw the polyester out. Cheaper but not worth it

Yes! 'Satin' is all 100% plastic these days.

Are we not looking at tags?
The tags were wrong! That’s the point of the video
Or just iron the material and smell.
This won’t work unfortunately. It has to burn 🔥
You can also just hold it above the flame 😊 The heat will melt the material and you can actually see it happen. No need to actually set it on fire so it’s safer for your hands 🔥.
I didn’t want to ruin the entire garment accidentally! Cutting a small piece of fabric from where it won’t be noticeable is “safer” in my book.
Can’t you tell just by the smell? The smell of silk is incredibly strong and unique.
is it? doesn't it just smell like burnt hair/other protein based organic matter?
Do you mean before or after you burn it?
No it has a unique smell. A combination of burnt hair and burnt fish.
The things is threads and yarn has the same name in Indonesia,we called it “benang”
Thanks for sharing! I had no idea.
Same thing with the 100% cotton claims 😂 everyone thinks they love cotton, when in reality must people don't even know what real cotton feels like! Spoiler: it's not soft, stretchy or flexible, also very hard to dye 😂
I feel like you are trolling here because everything you just said about cotton is wrong.
I think this depends a lot on how it’s prepared. Woven cotton won’t be very stretchy at all right? But a knit type of fabric is more likely to stretch? Something like a 100% cotton tea towel is a perfect example of not stretchy or flexible and not soft. 100% cotton sheets can be soft but they’re not stretchy. And a 100% cotton tricot shirt, or a jumper knitted from cotton yarn can be pretty soft and stretchy at the same time 🤔
Yes this is accurate. The fiber type itself is not the determining factor. Thanks for watching!
Is there any way i can test the clothes before buying them? At times when i shop they write 100% cotton but i think it is because no one usually questions about the quality that is why they are able to continue to do this. I just want to verify if the price i am paying is actually going to quality product rather than being scammed.
Bring your scissors and matches to the store!
