I'm back! I was feeling super demotivated to work on videos for a while, but I'm feeling a lot better now. This video did not help, I don't have nearly enough footage to show how ridiculous that day was and what I did get had some audio glitches. Anyways, lots of good stuff to come soon! I got a lot of great stuff in 2024, including my first mainline steam, and I can't wait to share it ;) 0:00-...

The second half of our full day railfanning the Chicago Line went much better than the first. NS ran an oil train with nose to nose warbonnets and a few CPKC run through trains. I've been really busy with some big projects lately, so that's why this video and the next few will be farther apart than normal. Even so, I hope you enjoy! On the first full day of our Indiana trip, we went to Butler in hopes of seeing a roadrailer. Little did we know, both trains were annulled for the two days of our trip. We still had a fantastic day on the Chicago Line, with some extra traffic from the Detroit District. 13.1k hp has one loco in Austria peek power 😄
Yessir glad to see new content up! Awesome video
good job.one of the ways of knowing your training has paid off.
WOW! Really surprised they didn't pull a knuckle!
The locomotives start one car at a time by backing a bit to introduce slack in the couplers.
Now I want to make this system to my train game
I think I can I think I can
Finally my favorite train videos are back AGAIN
I'd guess the horse power to tonage ratio is off. Need another loco or 2. And maybe not conversion units 😉
Biden’s America. President Trump makes sure there is enough sand on tracks all time.
Nah this locos engine sounds like Wdp4d indian loco
" Sir, shouldn't you buckle up" "Ah...... buckle this ! Ludacris speed... GO !!!!"
Surely unsafe and over loaded if you cant get going ?
Awesome videos! How busy is this line and what time of day is best to railfan it north of Columbus?
Hmm, I would guess that it's around 20 trains a day? As to what time of day is best, I've found that most railroads are pretty busy between 4pm and 6pm. I don't live here so I can't give you an exact answer, unfortunately. I do know that the CSX line right next to it, the Columbus Line subdivision, is so dead that you'll be lucky to see even one train.
@iceclimberGD I appreciate your information
The other locomotives didn't sound or look (exhausts) like they were running! 😮 No wonder it was so damn hard to start out!
How could this train move in gradient when not being possible to move on level?
It was due to lack of friction on the tracks, with enough (sand) friction, it could make the gradient. Power was not an issue here, wheels slipping were.
If this was UP, they would have more power than this for the same trailing tons, probably on the front but possibly a trailing DP which , just my uninformed opinion as I've never driven one, improves train handling en route and avoids these sorts of tire-spinning standing starts. I have seen UPs that start slowly but never revs the diesels as hard as shown here. I'll admit I'm usually too far away from the starting point to say there is no spin, most likely there is some, but never to the extent of this video. I seem to recall NS had an accident in the hilly parts of VA or WV, having inadequate power for tonnage that may have contributed to loss of control in what I seem to recall was a derailment near track speed because the braking was inadequate. I may be misremembering but I was horrified by the NTSB report imagining myself in the cab followed by a huge out of control train for all practical purposes. Cool video though. Am I right about NS having a reputation for running trains with inadequate power?
That's right, even on this line I've seen a lot of trains having problems getting up a short mountain grade.
Clearly the engineers hand luggage was overdimension
I really do wonder how the wheels under this fatass piece of heavy metal even budge
I'm glad you back🎉🎉🎉 so long time 💗💗
We are so back, amazing video 🙌🏾
THE KING HAS RETURNED
Glad it’s not just in my train simulators.
On my home sets , I just replace the rubber band on the wheels.
I'm giving her all she's got, Captain! "I don't know how much longer I can hold her together!" 😂
the little choo choo that could 😅
I dunno. I think it's foolish to overload those locos when they could have just added one more mid-train. That can't be good for the alternators or the motors.
Nearly 1 million views! 999k!
Power restrictions at its finest lol. Other two were cut out lol
13k hp is not what is impressive, it's the traction effort in torque!
💯🚂💯🚂💯
I heard no slack shudder as the train accelerated slowly. I always thought the train needed to back up slightly to give the cars slack before resuming acceleration. Ideally, you want to pull a few cars that one second before the slack is taken up to pull the other cars further down as inertial slowly builds.
HE HAS RETURNED
Woah, he’s back!
Yep! I got a looooot of work to do...
4:53 that's definitely not run 8
That's why you have at least 4 pairs of sander... what's the point to sand part of the rail, which is the wheel leaving?
i guess overloaded....
The power of the EMD SD70ACC is amazing! The sounds of a 710 at near full throttle, incredible. This locomotive appeared to start this entire train from stop all by itself. I'm amazed at how smooth and refined the 710 is at high revs, as smooth as a BMW inline 6. EMD is the best of the best when it comes to prime movers. Just ask towboat operators.
What a horseshit engineer. Use 40-50lbs of independent to control wheel slip. This clown is pure ass.
🤔Somehow, I pictured George Kennedy at the throttle chomping on a cigar yelling, "COME ON, BABY, COME ON!" (Airport 1970)😅
New title: Locomotive does burnouts and massive boosted launch
I hate seeing some impatient Morons Who can literally here the train horns blowing and They still don't bother to stop
Dead channel
That train derailed in a rock slide
Cool video!❤
All that power and they only just get going, gotta be one heavy train!
Bro gust spin the wheels
Just
Hoooooooooorn… ❤️
Were GE locomotives pulling too?
Only the lead locomotive was, the other two were offline
@iceclimberGD That's why you couldn't hear the sound of those machines, if they had thrown those machines it wouldn't have been difficult to throw the EMD 🤔
