The Professional Security Journal
Добавлен 7 июл 2023
Hello everybody! I’m a credentialed private security officer currently in the State of Nevada, I do armed & unarmed security work for a living & love what I do & seek to give my professional knowledge & tidbits & help further the security industry & build the next group of officers up! I think you’ll find I have a very unique view of the industry because of the reason that brought me to security in the first place: The 2017 Vegas Country Festival Shooting. I am a credentialed baton, handcuffing & defensive flashlight instructor (ASP AIC), I am a credentialed Taser-Axon LE Instructor, & a Sabre International OC instructor, as well as being an OC Aerosol Instructor, I am also a 0.68 Sabre "PepperBall/OC Launcher" Instructor.
I’m a credentialed less lethal instructor through manufacturer certificates which are accepted nationally, POST & IADLEST certified. I hope this channel serves prospective, new, & experienced officers well and hope to build people up and help elevate your careers!

Here is the thing with the red dot. The red dot penalizes you for a poor presentation. If you can’t find the dot on presentation, it’s very likely that the dot is high outside the window. If you tighten your wrist downwards, the dot will reappear. Your presentation has to be consistent each time and if not, you have to “fish” for the dot. The penalty is you can’t shoot right away, if you have to fish for it. Even before the range, you can practice presenting at a target at your house. If upon presentation, it’s not there right on target, you can’t press the trigger. This should be done before you hit the range. Instead of swapping a slide, you can always remove the battery and practice the iron sights. Of course, they have to be suppressor height. If you pay $400 for a slide, that money could have been spent attending a red dot course to get you to proficiency.
I’m finally here!
Actually sir this works without a light as well , youres looks to be just as tight as mine is , has it gotten better as you wore it in ?

Hey Mike, would you be available for a 15 minutes consultation?
Always be looking to better yourself in the security field and find what you want to specialized in ..
Palamerica… idk how your out fit is the one in SE TX was awful they actually got completely replaced with in house security at their sites.
@@elix901 the local branch command never seem to want to do their job. I don’t know how they survive as an entity in Vegas…
My brother in Christ.... you can't replace your extractor?! Are you dropping the slide with a bullet in the chamber or are you chambering a round from the mag and topping the mag off?
This was like 3 months ago, I tried clearing it for the RUclips safety police, but the red dot optic was having the well documented issue with the 43X/48 slim lines to where the screw was too long and interfering with operation. At the same time I am OVERLY paranoid with safety to the point to where I sometimes do “sketchy things” (IE looking down the barrel to make ABSOLUTELY sure we’re clear before we pull the trigger since I had to reset the weapon) Thanks for watching
But for the record since you asked - I work from a magazine and don’t do that chamber nonsense.
You don’t get enough views and subscribers. You need more I need you to start kissing babies and shaking hands
HAHAHAHAHA I don’t know why this comment was hidden somewhat. This made me laugh. I appreciate you dude
I’ve got to be honest with you. I have the safe life basket, weave duty belt. It’s honestly the most durable and comfortable belts I have ever bought Don’t give me wrong when you first get it it is completely stiff and almost impossible to bend correctly What I love about the belt is it actually comes with a pretty nice Velcro belt and when you put the belts together it’s so comfortable on your hip while at the same time not squeezing you to death As somebody who has a slimmer build, I have to loosen my belt up a little bit otherwise it rubs my hips raw. Because of this, it allows me to be more comfortable and more secure with safe life. If you haven’t checked their belts out, I definitely recommend it
@@jackspadeproductions6195 I started out with a SLD belt years ago. Nothing wrong with them really, there’s just so many better options out there. SLD belts are “ok” - they’re not bad, but not “OMG great” either. They’re a middle ground. It’s not an uncle Mike’s wholesale Walmart/Amazon crap belt, but you won’t see heavy hitters using it either. I use an AWS INC SMU Belt that I belt-keeper’d one of their belt pads to, essentially making a one piece duty belt system. You can find that in my shorts. Comfiest damn thing I ever have used in my time in security. So much so, that I’m probably gonna get another one for RTC as I make a whole new duty belt for Transit
@@Shieldel safariland was always my go to. Loved that nickel belt buckle 😂
@@jackspadeproductions6195 AWS INC is the OEM for the “Gucci” Ronin belts that heavy hitters *ARE* using. So by going with AWS I get basically ronin for cheaper
👍
Mike, I always appreciate your honest approach to these debriefs. There are so many EPs coming out of the forest now. As for the female agent, I didn’t know that there was a lot of people criticizing that she could not put her gun in the holster. Most of these people criticizing have never had their client shot. That obviously induces a significant stress factor. Also, the instructors at Gunsite will tell you to look at your holster. When I took a class with Mike Glover, he also told us to look at your holster. But you are right…. when I started off, looking at your holster was taboo, and the instructors expected you to look for more threats with your gun out. Obviously there’s a point of time when there is no more threats and that is when the instructors still encourage you to look for more threats that are not there. I actually USED to teach that!
@@crimbullet I try to give people the benefit of the doubt - as I said, you can only introduce adrenaline and stress to a certain degree in training, the full brunt will never be experienced unless it all goes to hell, and THAT’S something you hope to god you never experience - unfortunately, this detail did indeed get that full brunt and “their dose” of full adrenaline.
In the service we used Blackhawk Quick Disconnect system. A lot more options available but it is incredibly reliable. Makes it a breeze to move a holster from your belt, drop leg, or plate carrier.
I see
Being a Safariland QLS fan, this TEK system deserves so much more attention. I also tried to search the Internet for pressure test for both the TEK and the QLS. There is not a lot. Unfortunately, the only pressure test that I saw was the video you sent me where Blade-tech tests their own product (TEK) and the QLS on camera.
Off topic, any thoughts on the new LawPro system? That allows full use of a direct impingement rifle to be used even when folded? I have the older version; the platform will not cycle although it will fire the only chambered round in a folded state.
Interesting
Yeah, that’s pretty interesting. That four of the ASP batons were defective in its own manufacturer instructor course. 😂 😂…
Is that the x5 legion
It’s the 4.7” XFULL
Interesting..only thing the excessive scratching is unsettling, goober neck line, as you mentioned… background. But other than that very fascinating to watch the “average Joe” security officer getting ready for a new site, congrats 👏
Thanks for pointing out the scratching - it’s a problem I’ve been battling for a bit since starting RUclips. I was born with eczema and try not to get too out of hand on film. Sorry if it was distracting!
@@Shieldelno worries just pointing out, the eyes always follows the hands; Aquaphor lotion should help minimize the inflammation/itch

I carry a peacekeeper baton 24 inch. I love this baton.
Yup I went largest with the 29. I don’t trust ASP. I’ll never go back lol
Thanks for the history lesson on duty belt buckles.

FBI Qualification Standard is the way to go

Appreciate your insight brother
I’m starting to think that this is a better option than the tier one concealed level two retention that I bought
For the slimlines? This is definitely the way to go! Get you an OT defense nub mod to increase the ALS size and you should be set.
Mike, I need help looking for an on-duty pulse holster…………………………… Gotcha! 😂
Literally the only outside the waistband Pulse holster I’m aware of is an *OPEN-TOP* by Blade-Tech, with ZERO active retention - hence why I REALLY don’t recommend carrying one on your belt or vest in general along with all the other reasons you and I have both spoken on.
Good to know
FUAK
Good information! I don’t think a lot of people know about a retention chemical agent holster
The only other one I was aware of has appeared to have gone out of business. But I adore this spray holster. I’m much more “at ease” at work with asthma knowing my equipment is really locked down
Upon doing some research (that I should have down prior to this) I have found that Safariland calls their hood the *SLS*. I always get their two safeties confused. The SLS is the hood The ALS is the “ejection safety” as I personally call it. The ALS is the retention feature that hooks off a weapon’s ejection port Moving forward I will try to keep these two in mind - I nowadays holster in an Alien Gear and have moved on from Safari.
“My rear is clear” 🤦🏽♂️ 😂
BUT IT IS! 😜😂
What’s in the pouch!? 😂
On my belt in this video? It’s my phone pouch, so it was empty for this recording. 😜 unless you’re talking by my phone, that would be my streamlight HL-X. Even in my suit, I have a light. Even in daylight - I have a light. And a utility knife, I carry a Smith and Wesson border guard I’ve had since I started security. Even in the suit, it’s clipped to my pocket.
I learned the hard way that the ASP cuffs don’t fit in “regular” sized holders lol
I just went on the SAS website. Depending on the product additions, SAS and S*#% Life Defense “ FRAS” is nearly the same in price. The SAS is more by $100-$200 but it’s NIJ certified. I am not subscribed to Tommy, but I do know that he has some good content. He does promote SLD a lot. As for the Johnny Q videos, I did a RUclips short video criticizing SLD… a lot of his loyal subscribers have been pounding me 😂
Thanks bro I was just watching ur body armor video. I’m looking for level 3 and level 4 body armor NIJ certified of course I do want thin armor as well. Recommend anything?? I gotta hit that website you linked. Thanks brother.
As far as if you’re looking for FRAS - Stealth Armor Systems is the only thing I recommend for soft armor rated for what’s normally hard armor stuff. 3/4 wise? I just got Point Blank armor, custom made, measurements and all - to the nines with PB armor. It’s still being manufactured and I have yet to actually get it in hand, but yes, stick with proven LE brands. Anything under Safariland’s umbrella, or hell, even Randy, Tac11 kit. Randy is at least on the NIJ list - I’ve looked up Tac11 on NIJ in the past, and Tac does indeed show up, unlike MOST of SLD, only ONE *ONE* armor panel, model shows up on NIJ for Crap Life. Their red armor panels.
@@Shieldel Cool thanks man I’ll look into SAS FRAS and Tac11 I’m in California green tip is standard out here unfortunately man 🤙🏾💪🏾😎
@@americantopgunner5102 I’m planning on revisiting armor in the near future. This research was all essentially exterior armor, I want to go back to armor and talk on concealed vests- “interior armor” and even tshirt armor, that’s a REALLY lesser known form of armor.
@@Shieldel Nice. I’ve seen the T-shirt and Jacket armor pretty cool. I’d like to get some concealed armor I’ll have to check out the website and do research.
Have you done a risk assessment of the likely threat you will face? Or is the Rifle Rated armor simply because it's the highest rated, most protection, personal body armor can provide?
Sorry to hear about all of the challenges you had last year. More light at the end of the tunnel for you brother.
Duty belt in a week!! I love that concept. You guys better trademark that cause I’m going to steal that idea from you 😂
Good thought! I should TM it!
Good
In California, county sheriff departments, usually issue the CCW, but you can CCW in any county in California. Some counties like Riverside, have a written exclusion for private security work! We might have two different ideas on the black wolf app. I may have not researched this enough, but if black wolf is the solo provider in their app, and not necessarily takes the Uber model of business, then they would have a greater chance of operating legitimately. It’s kind of like a patrol unit. You verify the private security company but you do not verify the patrol driver driving through the parking lot.
I think for the pepper spray you should burst a little bit in the air. 😂
Now Shaun….what you’re proposing is literally suicidal…we all know how THAT will go with asthma ☠️😂😆🤣
@@Shieldel hahaha
Watching the video and give like
We can all work on new areas to always improve ourselves. Looking forward to the content.
El cajon!!!!
I miss home!!! lol
Just wanted to add something here that goes to your video. In California, contract private security is limited to investigating theft or loss related incidents. If you go out investigating other types of crimes, you need a PPO license. that is something that the private investigation industry pushed when they developed the rules and regulations out here
That goes to my “Grape” point? That’s actually awesome and good to know. Obviously I’m next door so that I wouldn’t know, but I quite like that knowledge! That’s cool - no sarcasm! :)
The “medic” patches are something I haven’t been looking for, but it looks like that’s an issue too.
It’s that stolen valor type stuff….just like SRT. I see it A LOT on social media
