We have a vermillion flycatcher that visits us every morning in Tucson.
@@TrekkingwithDebandMike lucky you!! They are gorgeous 😍
Love all of the birds and elk. It will be fun to watch your big year.
@TrekkingwithDebandMike Thanks for tuning in, and yes, it was very birdy, especially at the Redondo Campground.
Cool video. I felt like we were going to slide while driving on the white sand. Lived in Colorado too long. lol new sub.
@TrekkingwithDebandMike YEs, it's tempting to move back to NM and out of CO. We'll see! Where were you in CO?
@dnasbirdingadventures Woodland Park. We loved it but enjoy full-time travel.
beautiful location. Loved the snaps of the Red Tail.
Thanks! Dave's getting pretty good at capturing birds flying
Thank you for this video. I love Bosque, and this video captures it well.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this excellent video. I might try to do some bird photography at Bosque in December. Your video gives me hope.
@@stanburman9978 You’re welcome & thanks for watching. I have one more video from Feb. of this year that may help even more. In December, you’ll have Snow Geese and Sandhill Cranes in different ponds for the “BLAST OFF” in the am since they aren’t usually together roosting. I chose the Snow Geese since we had witnessed the Sandhill blast off in Kearney, NE already. There were 1000s of Sandhill cranes in the fields between Alb. and Bosque during the day already last month. Here’s a Feb. video with a better idea of all the birds you’ll see in Dec. ruclips.net/video/MU28LKUnWBo/видео.htmlfeature=shared
@@dnasbirdingadventures Thanks so much. Have watchedd the other video. Excellent! And a big help.
What a cool experience! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and happy birding!
Please note: Actually, the colorful plates mentioned are made from radio active materials, not trinitite. They come in all different colors. I believe we had some growing up. Of course, they're not made anymore.
There use to be a free area on down the road. Came across a really old camp site. U could bearly make out what it was. Alittle burned sticks. Right beside it was the smallest arrow I had ever seen.. still have it but when I return I will give it the museum there.
That's interesting.
One chilly morning we went out hiking on the sands. I kept hearing crunch crunch crunch I kept looking around trying to see were it was coming from. Looked down it was me.. it had snowed slightly and the top layer had turned to a thin layer of ice.
It’s amazing how nature can surprise us, even in the desert!
Been there done that. Wish I could had stayed . Always called it home..Hope to make it back soon.
It sounds like the park's rules have changed quite a bit, maybe because of the bases nearby. It was our first visit and probably not our last. Thanks for tuning in to our channel. Happy birding!
Amazing video! It looks like some birds that you titled Willets around 13 minutes into the video are nonbreeding Stilt Sandpipers!
Thanks! They very well could be. I'll have to look further. Happy birding and thanks for tuning into our channel.
I love John Butler Trio!!!!!!❤😊
Very enjoyable and enlightening. I learned a few more species!
@@jeannehorvath7618 Glad you enjoyed it! We're still learning birds.
I live in Garden City. I just saw a huge sandhill crane near our high school. 😊
Yay...We've been seeing quite a few in New Mexico on our travels. 3.5k reported in the refuge by Roswell. They're so exciting to watch and hear as they fly by. Thanks for watching and happy birding.
Fantastic video, I was there had a blast!
@@S1159836 thanks! Were you racing?
Thank you for a great video. I had not heard of this ranch. It is on my list to visit.

It was! Kansas has some hidden treasures....mostly below the dune lol

Lol...that would be better than the music I put in there.
Keep doing what your are doing! I love the content.
Thanks so much. Happy birding!
Absolutely gorgeous episode friend, storytelling as always is so captivating 👌
Thanks so much for watching 🤩. You're comment is so kind. I think we'll make that campground an annual stop.
I love those kind of owls.
Us too. They're so magestic. Thanks for tuning in.
Why have you not given the Cheyenne Bottoms Refuge and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge? It is one of worlds perfect for birds, animals and plants.
@@brianbarber4501 ok, now those are on our list! Thanks for the tip and for the informative comment. We had heard of Bottoms. Happy birding.
@@dnasbirdingadventures You guys have been amazing. Good luck.
It's a cottonwood tree! I forgot to mention that in the video.

Cool, where in Co?
It's by the Colorado Springs Airport. Reservations required to eat in the KC97. We were able to get into the plane for an early dinner without a reservation.
Plus, our Merlin app picked up the Alder Flycatcher's call. I forgot to mention that in the video.
FANTASTIC VIDEO. Loved all of the Flora and insects. Must have smelled and sounded heavenly. Next July please take me with you. Seriously. Made me homesick.

Such a beautiful place to go birding! ✨
It really is! There were tons of mosquitos though. Thanks for commenting.
I live around Estes and just love our birds.
@@Hobgoublin We live just west of Loveland, close to Estes. We still need the Ptarmigan this year too. We frequent Matthews Reiser Bird Sanctuary, Lumpy Ridge, and in the park quite often. I just wish it wasn’t so busy this time of year. Thanks for watching!
Gulls will eat anything they can fit into their gullet hehe! I've never been to that part of the States. Lots of good birding, indeed. Whooping cranes are definitely on my bucket list -- sooo rare. Can't believe we almost lost them to extinction. Thanks for sharing. :)
@@LauraGYoung You’re welcome and thanks for watching. If we didn’t see them on this trip, we were definitely going to head to Corpus Christi area where they winter to see them. Wood Buffalo National Park Canada is another great spot to see them nesting. LOL, we’re realizing more and more how birds will eat anything. We love playing the game, Wingspan too which shows what birds will eat. It’s so fun. Happy birding and travels.
@@dnasbirdingadventures Wingspan is the bestest! :) :)
Thanks for sharing. My favorite photos are the Piping Plover and the Virginia Rail, because they are nice photos and the birds are rarely seen. I was amazed to see the Herring Gull eating a sea lamprey - makes me wonder if the lamprey could attach to the stomach of the gull, and eat it from the inside out! The only Whooping Crane I have seen was in the farm lands in western Lenawee County Michigan back in June 2016. It seemed to be paired with a Sandhill Crane. They returned in the area in spring for a number of years.
@@ASadler-ug1nm Thanks, I love the Piping Plover pic hiding behind the grass the best. He has a few others too on the Whitefish Point video. I, too, thought the same about the Lamprey. The sea gull seemed to make sure it was dead before engulfing it whole by knocking it against the rock SEVERAL times. We were only that close to a rail a few times, the Clapper Rail in FL and the Virginia Rail at Lon Hagler. This Rail had a hurt toe, so we let him/her walk all the way down the boardwalk to stay out of its way. That’s interesting about the Whooping Crane hanging out with the Sandhill Crane. I believe they migrate about the same time anyway. Thanks again for watching.
Yes we do! Here's the link...ruclips.net/video/3dCgfr9r6Og/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Such a beautiful place to go birding! New subscriber here ✨
@@wingsanddaydreams Thanks for subscribing! It WAS beautiful and new roads for us as well.
Back in the 1970s you could walk down to the bottom of the upper falls. .Those who were brave enough could walk behind it. The state figured out that it was not a good thing and restricted access. I was amazed to see the gull swallow a lamprey.
I would have loved to climb under the falls. We saw a huge cut under the rocks like a cave. Thanks for watching and commenting. The sea gull was pretty gross for me lol.
Thanks for the comment. I guess you have to be a birder to notice 😆. That's the main reason we went up there. I'm so glad they decided to return after that 2023 storm took out so much area. The museum made it worth the trip too. Amazing wreck remnants and history. We do love it up there in the UP. I think we missed a lot though. We'll have to return to the rest of the Seney WR and other areas we missed. You must frequent that area or live there. Those damn flies!!😮
I live in the lower peninsula but have been coming to the UP for 50 years. Two family members graduated from NMU in Marquette and one worked on a Great Lakes freighter . I used to fish a lot and am very interested in wildlife. I have yet to see or hear a wolf or a moose . Even a few cougars are around up there . I know Whitefish Point is popular for bird migrations. There are peregrines around Pictured Rocks. The UP is a great place if you like history , waterfalls , wildlife and all kinds of outdoor activities. The bugs are usually an issue late May until mid-August but as you noticed it seems to be a record year for them.
@@KurtG-nn2cz wow, working on a freighter would be interesting. We were hoping to see a bear at least since I read there are 12k in Michigan and about 10k in the UP. We did see a wolf when we were on our way home in Necedah, Wisconsin.
@@dnasbirdingadventures The closest I got to a bear was at Tahquamenon. I was standing a good 50 feet from it and a large group was about 30 feet away taking pictures. It was on the other side of a rail fence eating blueberries. It gave them a bluff charge and then came towards me and climbed the rail fence a few feet from me. It was never a threat . I got it all on video. The freighter Michipicoten developed a 13 foot long crack in the hull near Isle Royale a few weeks ago. It made it safely to harbor. I do not think there will be a disaster like the Fitz again due to modern electronics on the boats. If big waves come up they will anchor in a protected area , sometimes for a few days.
@KurtG-nn2cz interesting about the bear. We ran into tourists getting too close to Bison in Yellowstone last year. We have a lot of bears, Moose, and mountain lions where I live. I have a great respect for them and give them space.
Great video. Most people who visit Whitefish Point are not aware of the birding. The flies in the UP this year are terrible . Some claim it was due to the mild winter. It is a beautiful area .
Being a birder, and being from Michigan, I enjoyed your tour. If you get a chance, you should stop by Seney National Wildlife Refuge while in the Upper Peninsula. As you said, with the trees in full bloom, it can be very difficult to see the birds. I give you credit for your patience to get photos - it helps to have a camera with a zoom lens.
@ASadler-ug1nm Thanks for commenting and watching. What a beautiful part of the country. We actually touch the surface of Seney WR at Whitefish point.. Then we got eaten alive 😆 by black flies further west. I'm putting the Whitefish Point video together now. I know we'll have to return to your state in the future for some more Birding. With our very slow and gas guzzling van, we pretty much took a straight line. More to come, too, with the Tahquamenon Falls area. Colorado doesn't have the thick trees like you do lol...plus our sight and hearing are going. Thanks again.
Yes, the black flies can be bad in June....
That is the best flicker pick ever,
The bomber flying 😂??
@@dnasbirdingadventures on a mission.
Love the sped-up footage where it looks like you're mad-speeding.
😆 🤣 😂. I'm usually trying to cut the length of the video but don't want to miss any of the trail. Also, sometimes I'm going so slow,,, like at The Loch in Rocky Mountain, sped up looks like normal speed 😆. Thanks for enduring through.
Thank you
You're welcome
Hats off to all the You Tubers who try to put together videos while on the road! It’s tricky and I don’t have wi-fi often.
Why can’t you add when your trip takes place? Surely you’re not there in july. I’ve had to make this request to several bird trip utube sites.
Good point. I was pretty good when I started producing birding content, but have recently forgotten to add the time. It's usually on the list of birds found. Wifi's limited on our trip this time since we're camping. Our videos are within a week of the birding adventure. This is from early June. Oh, and thanks for watching. 😊
Fantastic video. Watson Lake is one of my fave local birding spots. So glad to see others enjoying it as well! The goldens and swallows are always a highlight there -- and as you noted warblers of every sort abound in spring. (Shame someone cut down that old cottonwood by the river at timestamp 14:49, though. It's stood there since I was a kid.) I know those invasive flowers as "Dame's Rocket". They are rather pretty, aren't they? That's the first time I've seen them growing there.
Thanks for watching! Yes, Dames Rockets. I think I called the "Sky" . We saw MANY big trees chopped down since the last time we were there. I wonder if they were dead or had an unmanageable fungus????!! Thanks for commenting too.
Oh, Dave said it might have been that huge wind storm we had. Hmm
@@dnasbirdingadventures Perhaps. Sometimes older trees do eventually fall over after decades of Front Range wind. 🌬🌳
Just came across your channel -- great footage of the downies at River's Edge! I'd no idea it was such a birding hotspot until I painted there the other day. Thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks! I'd love to see your painting of it. Please share.
Thanks! We live so close and actually don't get down there often. It's great for birding and also bike riding.
