    A bondservant is a slave. It was not the type of slave that we had in our country but the person was still a slave. There wasn't one type of slave in the Bible. He seems to be limiting the word slave to the type of slave we had in this country. Bondservant is a type of slavery. It is no different than the way we use the word "hell". We have an amputated understanding of hell - fire. Hell in the Bible was the place of departed souls. Hell contained two compartment: one of torment and the other was "paradise" or "Abraham's bosom". Bibilcally the word slave had multiple meanings and one of them is bondservant, which is most definitely not the same as the type of slavery we had in America.

    Hello! I really value this kind of content to bring perspective and open conversation on issues that can be hard to think about. I hope that encourages you 😇😊! One thought I had whilst watching the video was that I wonder if the fear of death for the melancholy can cause a melancholy to lose trust of themselves as well...I.E. I suspect melancholy's whom have had "other worldly" experiences may experience dissociation and disconnection from themselves due to a "fear of death" and a struggle to accept their lack of power and the judgement that may and or may not fall upon them? I would be very interested in your Biblical take on this kind of person, because I suspect this may be a very common type of person in the Church, which is perhaps someone who feels compelled to "die to self" due to a "fear of death" / "fear of judgement", and struggles to be "honest" and therefore I guess struggles with false responsibility due to this fear maybe?

    • @noname-iv6fc

      Thanks for your encouragment and feedback. I'm glad you found this valuable. You have offered some keen insights! I suspect you are very much on to something. In general the type of person you are describing, at least so far as I have seen "in the church," tends to be subjects of the more legalistic denominations. In general, God is not interested in someone simply "dying to themselves" to avoid judgment, but rather someone who "desires" to die to themselves because they have been repulsed by the wicked tendencies of human nature. The melancholy is at a higher likleyhood to run a risk of dying to self for the wrong reason (fear of death/judgment) which is detrimental to their mental and emotional health because they feel they must do something in their own effort which is in fact impossible; most don't realize it's impossible. Thus, surrender is required and empowerment by the Spirit. However, I think many who are young in faith (no matter their temperament) and have not truly come to see God accuratley fall into this unfortunate state.

    The generation of the fig tree, where both good and bad “shoots” were set out in Israel when became a nation again in 1948. There will be cries of “peace”, but there will be no true peace, not until after Christ returns. These cries of “peace” are indicative of the looming beginning of the tribulation of Satan as antichrist.

    Lee, so glad you made this video. As a military veteran with multiple combat tours I do have PTSD. So hearing John Macarthur say it does not exist almost made me angry. However, after listening to what he was saying I have to infer that his intent is on the over medication of mental illnesses. I agree with you on the fact that some individuals do require medication to help offset an imbalance. I think the problem with the medical field and the mental health field as a whole is they only treat the symptoms and not the illness. Truth be told the only way to completely heal mental illness is through the blood of Jesus Christ. I do not see the VA or any other medical industry going that route. I am sure I could go on for hours as this short video has so much more to unpack. Suffice to say that regardless of what we label the mental illness to be or whatever John Macarthur has to say on the subject, if you suffer with anything seek help. Do not go it alone or cover it up. Ask for help from a good Christian counselor.

    By far the most effective form of evangelism was the early Christian ekklesia living the apostles doctrine as demonstrated in acts2v42-47 and acts4v32-37. Have a look at acts2v47. What are your take-away's from this conversation?

  • @markferguson1338
    @markferguson1338 Месяц назад

    An ekklesia is not a church and these two words shouldn't be used in the same sentence. An ekklesia is a political entity that gets its business from its ruling authority. All members of an ekklesia are equal and all members are encouraged and expected to participate. All Ekklesia have a quorum. A Christian ekklesia has a quorum of two or more, it has untitled servant leaders and was a house group movement structured geographically. The Christian ekklesia partook of the agape meal and practiced the apostles doctrine as demonstrated in acts2v42-47 and acts4v32-37. The church is a man made institution that officially started in ad381 and is described in rev as mystery Babylon the mother of Harlots. The first Democracy was the ekklesia in Athans and the Roman Ekklesia was absolutely designed to promote Roman culture and laws. The most important thing to understand is that the early Christian ekklesia lived the apostles doctrine which is kingdom culture and the opposite of the world systems culture of greed and fear. Read acts2v47. If we learn to agape one another as an ekklesia then we will fulfil Jesus statement when he said " by this shall all men know you are my disciples if U have agape for one another ". Your message is sound but you will never get a church to behave as an ekklesia because the structure is man made.

    Pastor Mark Driscoll did the correct thing in this situation. What he did was no different what Jesus did when he turned over the selling tables where God's house - His house was being abused and blasphemed. Mark Driscoll had a responsibility to speak up against sin - no title or position is required to do this - simply someone that stands up for righteousness and against sin. God can use a donkey to communicate judgment - therefore anyone and everyone should stand against sin. The lasciviousness displayed at the conference where God was to be preached, was total wretchedness and pure evil.

    I dont trust Driscoll, or any mega pastor these days - but on this he was not wrong. I was HORRIFIED at the opening performance and I feel like these conferences are feeding a very toxic masculinity that has arisen in the Pentecostal church for quite some time. I am a Christian aka a follower of Christ. I am no longer a follower of men's version of church. I cannot stomach it anymore, and instead I will cling to a faith that is free from men's interpretations. I am sad for me and for all Christians who no longer belong.

    It’s certainly an angle to take a look at, and I have to admit that for a split second I asked myself if it was possible that Mark was aware of this and how it would give him the “good pastor” effect. While I enjoy some of his sermons and teachings and agree with most, quite a few of his reaction shorts have had me shook and left me with my mouth hanging wide open. Apparently according to Driscoll, anyone who dares to question some narratives with a perceived “conspiracy “ type view is a stoner who was to their misfortune, homeschooled... I believe he Once said some women was a whore in one of these reaction shorts which is most definitely NOT the way a Christian talks. I have rebuked Mark a few times in the comments as the majority had. I could see how a righteous rebuke as we seen today could certainly gain him some positive praise BUT it could NOT be done without throwing another pastor and an entire church under the bus which I don’t believe could have been agreed upon. This sort of thing would not go over well if found out later. I believe what we seen today was genuine.

    I completely agree that he is calling the church to a higher standards. I don’t know anything about him aside from what I’ve heard. I’ve heard he has many characteristics which are not becoming of a leader. But what people don’t seem to understand is just because someone is wrong in many things does not mean they can not be right about something, and just because you disagree on/with everything - In terms of a person or point of view -does not mean you cannot be on agreement over something. I think that as followers of Christ we should always work towards a heart posture of being quick to listen and slow to anger or defensiveness. I think many people- especially from what I’ve seen online, were just hearing what he was saying and judging it off of how they feel about him instead of actually listening to what he was saying.

    I used to go to this church before God moved me out of it 4 years ago and I was new to the faith as an adult when I started there a year before that. I feel like at one time this church was led by a man of real genuine faith in Christ, but something has changed and when I saw it, it truly broke my heart. James River used to have a real good impact on this community. Mark Driscoll speaks there at least once a year and has for a very long time. I agree with what Mark said because he is right BUT I agree with those who think it was probably not the way to do it. HOWEVER, look into the things this church has been doing and know that there are a lot of people who needed to take a step back and question what's been going on there and now they are because as I said, something is off. BUT here is my question, after all the shenanigans that have been going on in this church for at least 4 years, this kind of stuff is seriously not new to James River, WHY was Mark there to speak anyway? I'm not sure I trust Mark Driscoll. Not certain he wasn't just trying to go viral because he has done stuff in the past to indicate he could have self-centered motives like that. I don't know and I am NOT the Judge, I can only judge things that I see against what I know to be the truth from the Word of God. My thoughts are that maybe Mark is himself seeing truth and could not shake his disgust in it all, finally. Maybe what he said was something God ordained him to say to make people wake up OR maybe it was self-motivated, I don't know. But what I do know is I am SO sick of the devil using our churches to make Christians look insane, make us turn on each other and distract us from what is really important which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ who humbled Himself and became as the perfect sacrificial lamb to die on the cross so that every man could have the opportunity to accept Him and be saved. When our churches act like circus shows, we make Christians look like clowns, and I am very unhappy with all of this nonsense. Let's pray that all the people involved are either truly in the faith or have real "come back to Jesus" moments from this ordeal.

    Just had this conversation. Apparently the opening act was on Friday and Mark spoke in the afternoon the next day. He hung out with leadership in between. I think he was 100% right to call out what had happened. Did he do it knowing he would get fame from the clip and the shock and awe of it? I don't know. I can't judge that. Maybe. I do know he just earned a lot of followers and he is a very questionable guy with some credible accusations he's still engaging in spiritual abuse. At the end of the day, it needed to be done! Glad it was called out. Let's just all walk forward in great discernment.

      Also, thank you for calling out the abuse of Mt 18. We've got to stop!

      I agree. I know for me, sometimes I react to things right away and sometimes it takes time to process and I realize later that there’s an issue. It could also be that everyone around him was fine with it and when he went back to his room later, he found he couldn’t sleep because it did not sit well with his spirit.Only God knows.

      Thank you for the timeline. Explains why Pastor Lindell reacted the way he did. He should have told Lindell what was on his heart and give the church to address it. And if they booted him home, he could have addressed it then.

    Ron discovered many other Biblical locations, documented including Noah’s Ark. As far out as it seems the Ark of the Covenant found, I wouldn’t bet against it.
