Akal Ustat Part 5 - The Transcendent Gaze - Tuhi Tuhi Tuhi Tuhi
This is part 5 of a new series that will traverse the main concepts and themes throughout Akāl Ustati (ਅਕਾਲ ਉਸਤਤਿ), The Praise of the Timeless, Guru Gobind Singh's composition within the Dasam Granth.
In this meter we explore Guru Gobind Singh's transcendent gaze, viewing the Divine within everything, the water, the earth, the sky, within his heart etc. This divine vision expands to a point where the Guru sees nothing else but the Divine, writing, "ਤੁਹੀਂ ਤੁਹੀਂ ਤੁਹੀਂ ਤੁਹੀਂ" - You Alone! You Alone! You Alone! You Alone!
Within this passage we also encounter instruction by the Guru, pairing this wisdom infused vision with devotion (bhakti), writing ਭਜੋ ਹਰੀ !, "Worship Hari!".

Fatehnama Guru Khalsa Ji Ka - Chapter 4 Reflections
Просмотров 6862 года назад
Fatehnama Guru Khalsa Ji Ka is an incredible text, so much to unpack, below are a few of my reflections from chp 4, interesting to see Maharani Datar Kaur play a pivotal role in the Multan battle of 1818. The author's play on Gurbani is also fascinating in the context of warfare. You can view the full text at: archive.org/details/20200124_20200124_0756/mode/2up?view=theater

    Chandi di vaar seemed to me to be a very mediocre text. Nothing but swords clashed and brave warriors roared and then finally devi disposed them off. And then next round with next demon.. again swords clashed.. no depth, no higher stuff. No nothing. Quite ordinary actually..

      @@FranceGaulGallia No celebration of the overweening magnifence of God here. Inferior stuff. Nothing to worship here. It asks us to focus on something other than God.. when we are asked to keep only God in mind. Even literature wise it is very uninspiring. Poor stuff.

    • @FranceGaulGallia
      @FranceGaulGallia 3 месяца назад

      @jusmeetsingh1907 Well, you can ignore what you don't fathom. *Chandi di vaar* doesn't negate anything from early Indian belief systems where Shaktism and Vaishnavism coexists. According to some internet scholars even Maharaja Ranjit Singh might be a fool to mint coins calling devaki nanadan Krishna as Akaal! Or the sword of Guru Tegh depicting Chandi. Their understanding as an early Sikhs or Gurus was way inferior to modern understanding by scholarly internet Sikhs (shishyas)

    • @FranceGaulGallia
      @FranceGaulGallia 3 месяца назад

      @jusmeetsingh1907 You can treat Chandi di Vaar just like Akaal Bodhan in Kshatriya tradition, where warriors invoke goddess to be successful in their battles. Monotheistic people should view it from lens of Monism because that is the essence of it.

  • @jusmeetsingh1907
    @jusmeetsingh1907 4 месяца назад

    Why did Guru Gobind Singh not add this text to Guru Granth Sahib? After all he did add Guru Tegh Bahadur bani to Guru Granth Sahib.. do you think because it was unworthy of being treated as sacred and divine?

      @@FranceGaulGallia Guru Granth Sahib has all North Indian languages ! And Arabic and Persian. How is language an issue ? 😁

    • @FranceGaulGallia
      @FranceGaulGallia 3 месяца назад

      @jusmeetsingh1907 Not really. Loan words don't define use of language extensively. SGGS and Dasam Granth are different work of art compilations. Braj is extensively used in Dasam. Dasam is more focused on avatars and Shakt traditions of Kshatriya Singhs whereas SGGS is based on Vaishnav Bhakti movement for the most part. You will notice except Farid most of bhagats are Vaishnava. There is even a reference of Lehna (Guru Angad later) leaving Shakt tradition and become an ardent Krishna bhakti follower in footsteps of Guru Nanak.

    • @FranceGaulGallia
      @FranceGaulGallia 3 месяца назад

      There are some Persian compilations as well as most learned people who dealt with Mughals knew it. As Persian was language of colonization used as Mughals to subdue Indians and consider them inferior. War of Singhs against Mughals have also been dramatized in Dasam. Kshatriya Singhs like Kharag Singh w Jaradlsandh are warriors against Krishna as it is dramatic work called Bichitr Nanak. It's treated just like works of Shakespeare but in religious form. Many folios even display sodhi gurus separately worshiping devi because of the Kshatriya tradition Monism is not the same as Monotheism. This is where people without any sense of Kshatriya warrior history get confused and find it difficult to fathom reference of Guru Gobind singh regarding Goddess. This is a similar tradition to what even Arjuna followed at the advice of Krishna deapite Krishna being his Charioteer. Sikhs (Shishya) have diverse sets of beliefs that many find hard to believe. Even Khalsa can not survive without blessings of Goddess as stated by Guru Gobind Singh himself in 1428 of Dasam Granth. While he wants to establish Hari worship, it doesn't negate Krishna avatar or Devi worship, as clearly seen in Dasam Granth. People can reference xyz scholars to play around with words, but primary texts clearly show devi worship (Dasam) and Krishna (SGGS) worship equally. These baseless scholars haven't been to any tribal parts of India or explored Kshatriya warriors to understand the deeper meaning of these beliefs that have prexisted before. Kabir, Namdev, Ravidas all these Vaishnavas existed before Guru Nanak. Guru Gobind comes from Sodhi Kul however and follows Shakt tradition. Guru Arjan despite shown in devi folio is ardent Hari bhagat (mentioned in ssgs) who writes and compiles most of SGGS. Reflection of Namdev and Kabir are heavily influencing the earlier Gurus while they have their own contributions to Vaishnav thought.

    The part on rituals / rites and how we utilise them was useful - there’s a lot of confusion about that within the panth - most people seem to think a) we just dont do any rituals at all or b) we do them but there’s always some hidden spiritual meaning behind them, but the key really is the way we utilise them and how bhagti transcends all of this. Looking forward to future episodes, thank you
