Beautiful! Sold my 21 foot fiberglass freighter i bought off a builder in Maine and I miss it. Scott canoe copied his thwart free design with step through center seat and I think two rivers sells the new design. My 5 hp was too small. What do you run?

I grew up in a 12 foot cedar and canvas boat. We later also had a cedar and canvas canoe. Warm on the feet, quiet for fishing. I'm well into my senior years and i think i need a small cedar canvas freighter. 😊

I just saw on "Explore New England" You Tube channel about your freighter rendezvous on Moosehead Lake. I never heard of a Maine Freighter or this style of canoe, It got me so intrigued, I started researching this style of canoe and dang, it is very rare to find. I only saw 1 place that builds them in Maine and nothing found on the used market. I guess more will be possibly on the market come spring. I would like to be able to go out on bigger waters fishing by myself if my sons cannot make it. Issue is, I'm a BIG person, hence my channels Title. When I sit in our current canoe, I need a passenger because the nose comes up way to high. I figure if I go to a much longer and beamer canoe, I can go solo on the Western Lakes in ME. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!!

WoW! Where did the V-22 Ospreys come from! Didn’t know there was a marine base in Maine! Love your video’s! Need more of them! It would be nice to have a few videos on your setups for the freighters! Motor sizes, paddle recommendations and anchoring ideas would be nice too!

What kind of speed and range do you get with your set up? I assume the Yamaha can go the distance on minimum fuel

Love that 9.9 Yamaha on your boat! I bought a prototype 21 from a guy who ended up showing Two Rivers how a no thwart model could be built. I had a 5 hp on it and that was way too small! But those worked on the 18s he made.

We’ve canoed many of the same waters. I have a 21’ freighter that spent many days on Moosehead in 2021. Already looking forward to 2022 camping and fishing!

I use a old 76 Grumman 19’ here in Alaska for moose hunting it has a lift and 9.9 HP with Rockhopper prop guard sure is my baby of a canoe !
