This is a slideshow of my winter project of converting a standard GMC Savana (same as Chevy Express), into a camper van. Links and details below for various parts and materials used. Most of the wood used is basically MDF. See videos on painting MDF before trying to paint to save you a bunch of time and money. Ceiling and ceiling border is 1/8 pre-painted MDF purchased at Home Depot. Bench tops...

That's a very cool van I like that love the layout
I have to say something, WOW!!!!!
incredible, very nice. I like the 3D printed bits. Good idea.
Nice inspiration for my e350 extended
Ok, first question. Did you also bolt the new floor railings through the van floor, or just rely on the strength of the welds? What size steel? 2x2 tube?
Sorry for the late reply. I welded the new railings to the original seat railings. Yes, I used 2x2 square tubing.
Nice Job. We have the same van (although the added complexity of having the rear AC unit to work around and a CCV pop-top) and after an initial prototype layout didn't quite work, am back to the drawing board. Will definitely be looking at and absorbing some of your ideas and approaches since I think it's pretty close to what would work for us.
Wow beautiful interior and excellent layout, impressive. !
whats this editor?
Nice table, to beautiful to cover up.
I wish I could try one of those reedin supermodels! Keep up the awesome riding!
Perfect intersection of functionality and simplicity. Great build.
are you close to the dmv area
Top class. Rugged, functional yet simple. Excellent work.
Will done.. Keep it up 👍
Where do u buy the pads for your benches. How did u get your table to go down to conform to the bed?
I don't know how he did it but it looks like the same method used by ironing boards.
HI Kimberly and sorry for the late reply. The pads for the benches are simply a memory foam mattress purchased off amazon (Queen I think). It was cut with an electric steak knife. Much cheaper then buying regular foam. The custom table base/legs were made of 2 inch conduit and form scissor legs similar to like an ironing board. I hooked an actuator (from amazon) to it to make it raise and lower.
Well done Mr. Kirk Ziegler!
Thanks Dude!!! Wish I had this back in high school!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🙌👏👏👏
Of all the versions of this scene, this is the best. The script fits like a glove and totally hits the typical horrors of kiteboarding.
This is hilarious 😂 thanks for the share
I love this stuff!!!!
How many knots do you have there in end of March, beginning of April?
I am not from there. I was just visiting for a week and lucked out to catch a wind day while there.
ROFLMAO
0:52 i lost it.
Heavens to betsy...This is insane!
Funny shit, nice work!
Awesome
Pretty funny there Kirk! I'm with WeatherFlow (WindAlert, iKitesurf, iWindsurf, SailFlow and FishWeather). Love the creativity!
Thanks for the compliment! Glad you liked it.
Spot on!
I'm from the other side of the state... I wondered if you have any tips on the launch location(s) in Ludington?
Brian Fisher Hi Brian, I have only rode there a couple of times and the main beach (Stearns Park) is where I launched from. We mainly launch from the very far north end of the beach. The swim bouys end before the beach there ends, so you have a little alley way to get out in without being within the swim area. However, the park ranger guy said we could launch in the swim area as long as it did not have any swimmers in it. Or, you can explore the 5 mile long beach front north of the park. You have to drive past all the homes though towards Big Sable Point. You will see various turn offs on the way that have little beach access points. Just note that a couple have a lot of like dead tree stumps sticking out of the water.
Kirk Ziegler Great, lots of good info there! I'm only in my first year of the sport, trying to make a mental list of the "good" beach areas that we have access to launch from. I have found beach information online, but getting replies from people that have physically been to the locations are very helpful, thanks again.
