There is some good information hidden in here. I think though that he is one of those doctors that wants To push drugs instead of a better life. We all know that all drugs are toxic. That means that they may help you with the one thing that you're taking the drug for But it will cause other problems in your body. I think that the best Pathway too better Bones is natural , holistic and medical intervention. We should not have the mindset that only a doctor can help us with drugs. Keep in mind that medicare, and pharmaceutical companies which is controlled by the government, do not care about your health! Their top and bottom line is to make money. Doctors only know what their pharmaceutical reps tell them. There is very little research being done on O.P and o.p. This video was recorded two months ago. Much more research has been done since then. And this is not an updated version of what is happening now.

I think it might be easier to understand if you all would stick with one name or the other instead of switching back and forth. For example, in one sentence you said Fosamax and then in the next you said alendronate. This happened for the other drugs as well. Very confusing, at least for me.

What about PROGESTERONE? PROGESTERONE IS THE HORMONE TO BUILD STRONG BONES. WITHOUT PROGESTERONE; NO AMOUNT OF ESTROGENS WILL REVERSE BONE LOSS AND PROGESTINS LIKE MPA OR LEVONOGESTREL CAN ACTUALLY HURT BONES IN THE LONG RUN.

The root cause of bone loss is multifactorial but the it makes sense when you know what happens to a women when her ovaries start to shut down and even when normal healthy ovulation and periods slow down to even 8 a year [ forget menopause: perimenopaiuse and even late 30's unusual periods can even signal the begining of bone loss for women] The 3 hormones which oscillate up and down during normal ovulation are PROGESTERONE; TESTOSTERONE AND ESTRADIOL....these are P,T & E2 for short There are baseline P,T & E2 values that come from the adrenal glands. These levels are lower than the supplies that come from ovulation. P from ovulation is a ramping up and down spike around day 21 E2 from ovulation ramps up and down in two spikes centering at days 7 and 21 T from ovulation ramps up and down centering at day 14. So then the woman has abnormal ovulation [ perimenopause]. Periods can get infrequent and heavy or weird discharge and crazy moods <<<this can be due to the ovaries putting out too much E2 or too little because the ovaries are not in good sync with the brain hormones LH and FSH. ALSO she may not be ovulating but still getting E2 spikes but virtually no P and little T. Perimenopause can be hell for some women. P and T lowering greatly but E2 still pumping out before complete menopause can cause havoc all over the body. The lower T causes muscle wasting, lower metabolism, low sex drive and insulin resistance. The lower P causes cortisol dominance, anxiety, lack of sleep and thyroid dysfunction and bone loss. WITHOUT addressing the lowering of P and T even in perimenopause sets the woman up for bone loss and metabolic misery even before menopause. Study the Wiley protocol for more information. You really dont want minimal baseline P, T or E2 only as these hormones are all important in helping keep bones strong as well as metabolism. ESTRADIOL alone is not sufficient to keep bones strong. AND treatment should begin before and probably before menopause and even in the begining of perimenopause. Done correctly; the wiley HRT protocol can make you keep the health of a 28 yo and no drop in sex drive or bone density. The price is you have to keep the body on a hormonally induced monthly cycle but without EGGS. It is possible to have monthly periods until you 90 yo and a much healthier and happier old age. Wouldnt it be crazy to see beautiful healthy 80 yo women that still have to buy tampons? But people might even think they are 40 yo and some of them could be doing triathelons.

One of the questions I get asked most often from my Strong Bones students is 'how much weight should I use in class?' 'Must I use heavy weights?' 'Do lighter weights make a difference?' 'What does the research show?' So, I was thrilled when Dr. Belinda Beck spoke at the OsteoBoston meeting a couple of weeks ago, and I tuned in with great interest. While I found her presentation very interesting, I was also quite concerned. I believe she gave the impression that Onero is the ONLY thing that will help build bone. She and I had a subsequent email exchange about this, and we agreed that working on posture and balance is also critical, AND that everyone needs to begin where they can. This is the topic of the blog I posted on Tuesday, 7/2. Please check it out, and be confident that you should NEVER give up exercising if Onero (for whatever reason) is not possible for you. www.ourstrongbones.com/blog In good health, Joanne Fagerstrom, PT

This was a good video and I respect this doctor's approach. When I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at 65 (3 years ago), the doctor told me I'd have to go on Prolia for the rest of my life. I didn't know too much about Prolia but asked if it was safe over a period of say 20 years should I live to 85. She said there wasn't long term data but it was safe. She referred me to a physician who specialised on osteoporosis and he also said take Prolia. When I studied it myself I was BLOODY ANGRY that neither of them told me about the spontaneous fracture risk should I have to go off the drug. Neither of them offered a plan to manage the condition over the rest of my life, but resorted to "take the drug". I have finally been referred to an endocrinologist who told me he would not recommend Prolia for the younger older women unless there was a real need to do so because he was not comfortable with the longer term risks (and these are not just the spontaneous fracture risk). So there is a cohort of women who have been prescribed Prolia and have been on it for years and are now in a terribly dangerous situation. I know of one woman who was on it for 9 years and had a leg fracture and has now had to go on an intraveous bisphosphonate to hopefully prevent further fracture problems. This is an utter disgrace, and negligence by the medical profession - made worse by the fact that the Womens Health Initiative erroneously said that giving women HRT would increase heart attack and stroke. So like so many women in this timeframe, I was never offered HRT as a possible preventative. I have osteoporosis because the medical profession DOES NOT do anything to prevent osteoporosis in peri-menopausal and menopausal women. This endocrinologist (he's a professor) I am now seeing supports the Onero exercise program that is based on the successful Liftmor trials by Belinda Beck from Australia and will consider drug treatment after my next bone scan next year (and he says he'd be thinking about an anabolic like Evenity FIRST because there is evidence that people who have not had any bone treatments do better with Evenity). I have been undertaking the Onero program now for 14 months and until I have the bone scan, I won't know if it has made a big difference.

Once i found out why i was having the pain I needed 300mg mg of coenzyme Q to resolve the symptoms. Remember your nutrition needs to be goodfor these drugs to work.
