Symphonic Student Association

The Symphonic Student Association (SSA) is a student-run organization at UC San Diego committed to fostering a community for students and community members who share an interest in classical music. SSA is the primary social platform for the UCSD Chamber Orchestra but hosts social events open to the entire UCSD community. In addition, SSA provides a range of performance opportunities such as: chamber groups, recording groups, gigs, and community outreach performances. Finally, SSA works to help improve musician’s skills with coaching from professionals for instrumentalists. SSA is dedicated to raising awareness in classical music on the UCSD campus by holding performances throughout the year and strives to build a community where students can gather to explore the boundaries of musical instruments and classical music.

Emilie Mayer was often referred to in her lifetime as "The Female Beethoven" -- the excitement of this dramatic work shows why. More orchestras need to take up her music.
