Hey Jon,I know you probably get ass this but I’m 70 years old and I’m trying to build a video company or to be a freelance videographer here in Vancouver Canada and I’m struggling largely because of my age. I don’t have a network of younger fellas like yourself have all this talent and and know how and have connections to, the people that are sourcing out or looking for Video talent do you have any advice on how I can get plugged into being a freelance videographer I’m pretty desperate for work Vancouver seriously expensive so expensive in fact that I have to live in my car and I really need to geta solid footing on that and could really use some advice from someone who knows what they’re talking about. Is that the upper limit of the minimax? How much does the rig weigh? I‘m thinking about minimax or vario5, but if i‘m under 5kg(min weight for vario5) i don’t know if that still works. Also minimax is cheaper of course(:

I'm a Canon C70 owner and for many reasons switching to Sony soon. What I keep going back and forth on is if I should start with the fx3 or the fx6. My gut tells me to start with the fx6 and then get the fx3 once the shutter angle update comes out. -- With the SDI ports of the fx6, do you follow the LIFO (Last in, First Out) procedure, or do you just leave it in when swapping batters?

Waiting for projects to finish before making a reel is a dangerous game 😂 Speaking from experience. I finally compiled my clips and just need to edit mine now.

Hi Jon. Another fun video. What do you see as the primary difference between bleached and unbleached muslin? Is it mostly just color temperature? I'm trying to get a sense of when a person might use one vs the other.

Which Is Best Suited For Filming Reality TV? The FX3 Or The FX6?

For anyone interested in the name: Carl Zeiss is the name of the founder, and Jena is the city. Pronounce it with a long "e" and you're spot on. From what google tells me this is the guy who invented the microscope, and the company is the same that is todays global leader in anything to do with optics and much more. I found 2 intact lenses stuffed in a cupboard today, and after this vid i ordered an adapter straightaway. Lets see what these gems can do

Thanks for the gear tour; I learn something every time.

In cases where the subject has no hair I aim the light to hit more of their shoulder to still have some separation without accentuating their "baldness"

Great video, I'm sure it's a good light for run and gun, but to me it doesn't seem like a good long lasting option. I like the versatility of metal mounts and having quiet lights is a must for me. Good for budget productions, but at some point there should be a cheapness threshold haha.

Jon, do you set your camera to MF mode during interviews? I have the same set (FX6 and 35GM). And sometimes I have the impression that focus may stutter a bit. Anyway, if you use AF - what AF settings do you use during such interviews? :)

These looks are tremendous. Super high-end. I'm curious why you clamp the muslin to the softbox instead of leaving a one-foot buffer between them. Wouldn't the extra distance further soften the light?
