    Where are you raising your ostriches?

  • @gabrielmagalhaes3893
    @gabrielmagalhaes3893 11 месяцев назад

    You have been doing exactly the opposite of what that old fellow said. You are putting youself and the birds in danger, they don't have enough space and they are living under a roof. He said all of that not to brag or put you down, he gave you those guidelines to help you and the animals.

    • @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security
      @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security 11 месяцев назад

      What old fellow? I am the oldest of them all. Nobody was in danger. They have a roof so they don't have to freeze in the winter. We get snow here sometimes, and rain for two weeks? Would you rather have them shiver in the cold winter after rain? It is not all covered with roof, so they have the option to enjoy the sun too. It is funny that someone commenting who doesn't know anything about the ostrich eggs better to be shielded from rain. If they had no roof that would put the babies life in danger. Maybe you should read up on what happens to the eggs if the cold water carries bacteria inside the egg through the pores my little friend. I still have no idea what was I doing, that was the opposite of the "old fellow" you were referring to. One last thing to mention: These birds are the very last to be in danger. You have probably no idea how strong they are. They can brake a 2by4 just buy bumping into. They didn't even had to kick for that one. Their strength is comparable to a pickup truck or a raptor. I would enjoy also to have a bigger space but I would be very curious how generous would you be after spending $20 thousand on strong fence and the roof. I didn't inherit any of this. I had to build it from my savings. Let's say I am doubling the space for them, Where is the extra 20K is going to come from? Will you be generous to donate that money? The roof also has a structural purpose I might as well mention. It adds extra strength to the fence , because they have the power to kick down the fence if the beams were not attached to the top with extra braces. You can have beautiful ideas how to raise ostriches, but if you never did it yourself you are going to believe anything what some people say.

    • @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security
      @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security Год назад

      It is weird to put the fencing for the animals first but that would save you from a lot of stress.. they are very powerful and adults can brake a fence it too week. Then when their place is ready you either buy babies or get the eggs and incubate then yourself. A lot of humidity can kill the development of the embryo, so if it rains a lot in the spring, you might need to extract moisture from the air. The rest is easy.

    i am abouit to order those tray but I see you use a wood cut out now what is your reasoning behind this

    • @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security
      @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security Год назад

      I just wanted to save money on the tray, it was all right for a while but I have ended buying the trays anyway later. The "wood cut out " could only hold about 6 eggs, but the tray could do about 12 eggs. First it seemed just so unreasonably expensive because those tray cost $100 each , but I have a feeling the they were made in china for about $5.... But even the incubator is crazy expensive because only one company makes it here, so they have no competition. Not long ago you could buy a used car for $1000. But even the drone that I bought 2 years ago for $700 has a way more parts and tech behind it.

      Yes , you know that is so true, that I though about it. If I wanted to grow crops after they fertilized the soil, I would have to keep moving the fence which is not possible that way because the fence poles are deep in concrete, however it would be possible to build two fenced areas with a gate between them. Once the crops are done and soil need fertilizing, You just open the gate. However it is not as simple still. Ostriches sometimes refuse to walk through open gates for days. I have that experience already. I had similar setup and some walked but some refused. I thought I will just put the feed at one spot and the others come... Sure... They rather starve for days (enough for me to freak out) than all ten of them walking through at the same time.

    For that amount of ostriches you need at least a couple of acres.

    • @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security
      @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security Год назад

      That is true. Unfortunately where we live right now a couple of acres cost half a million $. I know that price is very unreasonable, for desert land 110 degrees summer and freezing winter no water.... Until the wealthy developers pay that price to build their condos, the prices are over inflated. Two acres they pay half a million, they can build 12 condos, which they sell for sum of 6 million. The only thing can change this if half of the country would loose their jobs, which is exactly what Jerome Powell was fantasizing about for some time. The only thing is more expensive than Southern California is the San Fransisco and New York I believe. I you live somewhere else you probably won't believe it. I can't even make this up it is so unreal. My grandfather used to own 100 acres, but he lost it during World War 2( not is the USA, it was in Europe). That land is ten times cheaper, which would still worth ten acres here at the least. When I talk to people , most of them inherited that amount of land or at least bought it 50 years ago.

    • @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security
      @Bio_IT_and_Cyber-Security 2 года назад

      The space is much longer, than what is visible, but land is expensive in California. About 200-300 thousand dollars per acre. Or you get something cheap in the desert but ostriches hate heat. Even here we had 106 degrees today, lucky for them I had roof at least but they hyperventilate above 90 real heavy… they also need water which wood be a problem in the middle of desert . Then you say “they are from Africa “ but I think a lot of them dies from heat and dehydration. When you pay money, you can’t afford that, but you also love the birds. They are very emotional.

Isn’t the space you have for them to small for that many? Or is that just your feeding area? They need room to run! Plus I would like to add, can hardly hear you talking and sounds like you are even whispering at times! Are you going to be incubating there eggs?

      Sorry for the late answer. There was one of those life events, so I had to move and have started an emu farm. I am currently finishing one emu pen, but I had to make a bigger one as well. This is currently the last, but I hope I can continue soon. I have started building a big tiny house 5 years ago and that one also needs to be finished, because I could not work on it at the storage. I have almost ran out of money, so I have to Doordash and Uber to survive, because I am not making a penny on RUclips yet. I hope I can continue the truck in about September, maybe earlier.
