Rivian 2025 R1S Delivery Tour : What To Expect🇺🇸
Nice, Tomoka State Park is a good choice for camping in that area and typical west and east coast FL vegetation. If you go more inland you will find more pine trees
We absolutely loved camping at Tomoka State Park! Thank you for watching 🩶
Have you experienced anyone asking if you had a breakdown/engine trouble yet because the frunk was up? Happened to me a few times already and then the look when they see no engine in my Lightning lol!! Im not familiar with the 30 amp situation. Is there a different charge rate with it vs 15/20 amp 120 volt? I assumed that it would still be the same 1.2 kw/hr - 5 days to full lol. Great vid.
We had a few people shocked when we opened the frunk and asked where is the engine located?! In our experience 30 amp outlet would deliver 5-6 kWh which would charge up the battery significantly overnight (14-15 hours to full charge). 50 amp outlets would take you to the maximum rating of 7.8 kWh for the Rivian mobile charger! Please share more your experience! Thank you for watching 🏕️
Can you provide links for the windows and windshield shades, they looked to be a perfect fit for R1S
Of course! The brand is called Heat Shield and I will leave the link here for you.Thank you for watching! www.heatshieldstore.com/

Welcome to Florida. If you drive thru Vero beach check out the McKee botanical garden. Have fun. You will see a lot. And possibly me!
Oh wow! Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep that in mind!🏕✔️
Cool, perfect camping weather here in FL, and you will find many more campgrounds with trees/shade/privacy.
Amazing weather in Florida! I love it!!
Brilliant. I would like to know if you captured the true miles to Kw stats. Not the trip logs but charging up to 80%, then drive as you do for a day or 3 amd below 25%. Note the miles driv n since 80% and see how many Kw it takes to top it back up to 80%. That will give me an idea of the miles per Kw. I'm aware we wont drive the same way but it will give me some info. I have an offer on a R1S but don't want to trade my Tesla X for a Kw hog
I have a similar spec R1S right now. You'll get about 2.2 miles per kWh or about 450mah/mi
@iamnid thanks but is that what the screen is showing or is it actually doing the math after driving from 80%, down to 20% and then topping back to 80%. To me, that would be the real miles per Kw with all the bells and whistles included. My Tesla shows 307wh/miles but actually doing the math, it's 2.6 miles per Kw
I did a quick 3 hr test of my 2023 Lightning with heat on and lost about 2% per hour, it was only about 35 out. Had it set at 70. Im going to try a small plug in heater test in the coming days.
Yeah the R1S is really something. 👍
What spec R1S is that?
This car is Dual-AWD Standard with 22” Sport wheels. Thanks for watching!
@@ElectroCamper2024 nice no have the same color dual large with 22 range wheels
Aweseome stuff!!! I would get this car and literally just stay in it.
Thank you for watching !!
Wow! Love the car and the adventure. Its my dream to do just this stuff. Plus the work setup is just amazing. Just one question. How much time does it take to setup all the gear? Thats the only difficult part of it all i feel. Packing and unpacking
Thanks for watching the video! It takes anywhere between 30-60 minutes depending on the site conditions. There is a learning curve, so eventually it gets easier and faster!
I have dreams/visions of doing the same in an EV SUV, but your video shows the reality that it's not as easy as it sounds. when you bring "stuff", it all needs to be moved around to set up your bed. The new ID Buzz would be awesome for the space, but range really is poor.
Thank you for watching! We’re glad our video gave you a glimpse into the realities of EV camping. It does come with its challenges-packing and setting up can be exhausting-but staying at each location for a few days can really help reduce the stress of frequent moves. If your trips aren’t too long and you have access to the Tesla Supercharger network, range becomes much less a concern. EV camping definitely has its learning curve, but it’s such a rewarding experience once you get the hang of it!
That delivery specialist looked amazing, seems funny, very professional and knowledgeable. lol. :) BTW HI!! How you liking your Rivian?
OMG Hey!! 😊 So great to hear from you! You were absolutely amazing-thank you for making the delivery so smooth and fun! We are absolutely loving our Rivian so far. It's been such a joy to drive. Thanks again for all your help!
Yeah bc ur not a guest..duh
Just so people know most hotels instruct their clerks to run off anyone trying to charge an EV who isn't a guest.
Level 2 wont get you far
I know but it’s better than nothing!
@@ElectroCamper2024I prefer the Mexican buses that run on slave work my guy... It's free and affordable in the North Korean barrier
Great vid! You can share addresses directly to your vehicle from Google Maps. No need to copy and paste into the Rivian app to send.
Oh really, We didn’t know that! We will try it!!
Thank you for watching 🫶!!
Loving the videos! Keep it up.
Thank you for watching 🙏 🩷
Holy cow that thing sucked down the juice. I have slept in my Model 3 probably 200 times and the most I have EVER consumed in one night is 21%...and that's because it was like -3 degrees out. Usually I consume 1% per hour on average. Have camped 5 nights in a row without charging and still had 35% after.
Yeah I was surprised and a bit anxious seeing how quick it was draining. I had the same experience in my model 3 even in extreme weathers. I guess it might be the downside of LFP batteries. We are planning to camp overnight without charging again and I will certainly keep an eye on the battery.
@@ElectroCamper2024 interested to see more, I want a new EV camping rig. M3 is just too small.
I love that y'all were listening to "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
One of our favorite songs!!😆
Awesome job

Congratulations on the new Rivian!
Thank you so much!
Great that I found ev campers! Im getting a camper shell for my Lightning XLT and am planning my first camp trip sometime in December LOL. I see the electric capabilities as a HUGE deal. Heat and A/C are not an obstacle. We will see. I can sleep on the floor in the back with the seats up if im unsure of my surroundings or until I feel safe sleeping in the back. An electric heater running all nite is nothing on these batteries. And safe....within reason. Caps can be known to leak in heavy rain. This will be brand new.We will see. I have investigated the Rivian vs Lightning and Rivian is a very good vehicle. The lightning I have is affordable and also very good. They are both versatile and capable of camping adventures!!! Best wishes
Welcome to the EV campers community! We started camping in our Tesla Model 3 and found it very convenient! We just didn’t have enough space. You are basically carrying a huge battery pack with you and having outlets will give you infinite possibilities! I am wondering, does Lightning have camping mode or similar feature to keep A/C or heater running during the night?
@ it does not have the camping feature, but you can program it to keep the outlets on until the battery reaches a certain level and then it will shut them off to Save the battery from draining completely
The lightning is definitely not as intuitive software wise as Tesla or Rivian. I am very surprised they don’t have the pet feature seeing his house so many people in pick up trucks have their dog with them lol
They should collab with a bigger software company like Apple or Google or even Tesla! Ford makes awesome cars and software shouldn’t be a roadblock for them. Keep me posted on your camping experience!
What window shades did you use?
The brand is called Heat Shield and i will leave the link here for you. Thank you for watching! www.heatshieldstore.com/
Thanks. Those look like a good idea for public camping sites. Enjoyed your video, particularly the Savannah bit, as we’re just back from a visit there.
Oh, you were there too! It was a really great city.👏 Yes, the item is easy to install and remove. I really recommend it!
Time = Money my guy.
Waited a full fortnight
Sun was up when he started and down when he stopped. I hope he didn’t have anything to do.
Love the commentary, looking forward to the next video.

This was a great video. I can not afford this car but its fun to watch! Makes me excited for the R2.
Thank you for watching!
This delivery associate is awesome, he practiced! Wish my delivery at the Costa Mesa center was this smooth
🙏🙏💓
what were your issues at the costa mesa center? How long did it take? I am taking delivery there Dec. 5. Thanks
@@thisisdanchoi the delivery associate that helped me with my Ford lightning at the Ford dealership was very well-versed also and very familiar with the whole delivery process, which was very good in Quincy mass
I'm sure its his job. lolz
@@mst3rmindd he was very nice ,but just didn’t have a rehearsed process like the associate in the video. Ours was the first non employee gen2 R1S delivered out of Costa Mesa back in June so it was partly that. Car was in camp mode when we picked it up and was glitchy getting out of it so car would not go over 14 mph, etc which needed a reset. Was an omen to come because I ran into more glitches later on requiring service. I since sold the car due to losing faith in the car and company, which I’ve never done, always kept my cars minimum 6-10 years. Quite the rollercoaster.
Making me want to trade in my Tesla for this
2021 I bought a brand new Tesla and had a very similar experience. Later in 2023 I bought an used Tesla at another store and the experience was horrible
I love camping, especially up in the NC mountains. With the nice weather you had, I think a tent would be more comfortable and practical than in the SUV. That said if it's hot or cold, it's nice to have the interior climate of the SUV.
I agree! We are planning to camp with a tent attached to the car in the future. Camping in the car also gives us the sense of security!
Thanks for some "reality". I keep dreaming about getting an EV (also R1S), mainly for the camping and pet-mode options, but I'm spoiled with 500+ mile driving range in my Toyota Tundra. That said, I do plan on test driving an R1S in next week.
Yes there is a trade-off for sure! That’s why getting access to Tesla Superchargers was such a plus for Rivian owners!
If you start the charge from the Tesla app, it's more reliable.
Just a suggestion, post your battery capacity in percent instead of miles, and charging rate in kW, not miles. It's easier for other EV owners to understand your trip and charging performance that way. 😊
@@chex383 Alright, good point! we will have that mind. thank you!!

Thank you! 👏👏
Very peaceful and relaxing video. I really enjoyed it. I bought my first EV last year and absolutely love it. Already have 30k miles on my Tesla MYLR. Congrats on your Rivian. I am a day one shareholder. Took a beating on the stock but I believe in the company. Long hold for me
Welcome to the club! We owned a Tesla M3LR since 2020 and drove it all around the country. I don’t see Rivian as a competitor to Tesla and admire its CEO. I bought a few shares a few days after getting the car! The future is bright!
I took my R1S camping the first day when I got it few weeks back. Love it.
Haha We also wanted to go camping as soon as we got the car!
How do you like the base audio system?
It’s impressive. I think it’s better than my Tesla Model 3 system!
This is beautiful! I'm a Rivian R2 reserver! Waiting excitingly for 2026 or 2027 the latest!
Thank you! I am also thinking about reserving an R2! But for now trying to get the most out of my R1S!
Hi there! Do you have the dual motor standard? If so, how many miles did you end up traveling and how often/long did you have to charge? I’ve also been looking into getting the Rivian R1S and haven’t seen much videos on how the dual standard holds up w/ camping road trips vs the larger battery packs. Thanks!
@@jessicabonifacio Hi Jessica! Yes we do have the dual motor with standard battery (270 miles). We did a long road trip for about 600 miles (video coming soon!) driving on highways mostly. We mostly used Tesla Supercharger network as it was more accessible and reliable but a bit pricy! We stopped every ~150 miles and charged for about 30 minutes to get to 80% as full charge takes longer. We camped at an RV site with 50 amp electric hookup which helped us to charge up overnight. Overall having access to Tesla Supercharger network makes this one of the best EVs out there for road trips. Make sure to subscribe and watch our next video where we go through the whole road trip experience!

Yes that’s the exact specs! So far it’s been ok. I have had a few issues including software bugs but the camping experience has been great. I will be recording a video in near future talking about my experience. Are you planning to purchase one?
@@ElectroCamper2024 Yeah, I might pull the trigger on getting the dual standard, but with the 20” wheels and the forest green color. Do you find the range true to the specs? I have a Model Y, and the range is never accurate! 😂
So far it’s not been really accurate. Specially if you are driving on a highway (60-80 mph) and the temperature is lower than usual you will end up losing 30% more than estimated. I kinda regret not getting the forest green, it’s the best!
