The sizing issues in these old anime’s were hilarious 😂

Quick context: the spiraling cost of building the rocket disheartened the government, so they leaked information of it being a nuclear-ish missile to goad an attack. (The rocket is near both nation's borders.) The scientist's and soldier's only hope of preventing all out war is to successfully launch it, proving it isn't a weapon.

Some of the most Iconic imagery in all Anime, even animation itself, it is a shame the rest of the movie is an Incomprehensible mess , even if it is an abridged version of the source material, it isn't the best written. I would love some kind of revised version one day, take all the best beats of the story and characters and make a tighter more cohesive vision , would be sick.

The parade itself acts as a symbol of collective unconsciousness and repressed desires breaking free. As more people’s minds get swept up, they lose control, becoming part of the nightmarish, chaotic flow. This phenomenon reflects how fragile the line between conscious and subconscious thought can be, especially when tampered with recklessly, creating a nightmarish vision of dreams overpowering reality itself.

this and Akira are top notch anime

I remember first seeing this masterpiece of a film and also “Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust” back-to-back when I was 17 and I’ve been a super-fan of Kawajiri (and MADHOUSE) ever since: this is not just peak 90’s “Man-ime”, this is a legendary lost-art; moving art!

I remember reading a comment a couple years ago that this seemly chaotic surreal of this scene is actually meant to be satire of everything troublesome in Japanese society; High su*cide rates, anxieties over natural disasters, adults quitting their dreams over to have "real jobs", people having children for them to become their cash cows in adulthood, the sexual exploitation of young women, an increase in homelessness, isolation among young men (Hikikomori), corrupt and greedy politicians and the diversification of religious beliefs.
