@@handcockalexander72 same here
I"ve lived in both Texline and Clayton
@@Partyatmosphere i love it up there
Actually it is only about 2 sec. to across DC by I-495
@KCETinTW lol... you're probably right. I wasn't actually timing it but I knew those 3 borders were really close
I bet there's some nice bass in that lake.
@@robertsansone1680 should have stopped the train and threw out my fishing rod
@@davidbashay6286 And I bet they have millions of fire ants on shore. I used to fish at Lake Texoma & got plenty of stings. Good video. Thank You
@robertsansone1680 thanks, glad you like it
I was hoping this was going to be the main out of Englewood, through Dayton and Liberty. I was lost until I recognized the long bridge across Lake Houston. Great video!
Nah... you see Dayton & Liberty on the way into Houston
I’ve never rode on a train , but I found this video surprisingly relaxing 😎 it’s not about how fast you get there , just enjoy the ride ❤ come to Corpus Christi!
@spunkymomma5935 the trains are really nice and relaxing
Why does the Sunset limited cross lake Houston I thought this train basically followed I10 from coast to coast no need to cross lake Houston.
@@DJboutit2 don't know the answer as to why, but the train really mostly follows 90 than it does i-10. Maybe it crosses Lake Houston to give the passengers something to look at other than just trees
Sunset Limited mostly uses the former Southern Pacific east to west route, now owned by Union Pacific. To be honest this route more closely parallels US Highway 90, than it does I-10.
Mr Bashay, does UP practice directional running, with the former MoPac running eastbound and the former SP running westbound? Or, does UP assign a route based on traffic density or train symbol? While well maintained, the former MoPac line seems like a secondary route with lower speed limits. Thank you for sharing the video. I have only ridden the SP line. When I went to New Orleans in the late 1960’s, the MoPac had exited Houston to New Orleans service. The “Sunset Limited” was coaches only with the Automat car. I believe it was 1970 when the “Sunset Limited” regained the diner and a sleeping car, but went to triweekly service. Sadly, it’s still triweekly under Amtrak.
Scene as restored Union Pacific steam locomotive 4014 crossed it several years ago... ruclips.net/video/I0GkhLDQlZk/видео.html
Nice place for housing in the first segment.
@DUBMANS yeah really nice.... and you'll have trains blowing through your backyard everyday... lol
@@davidbashay6286I love your videos. I collect insulators and was wondering if you ever see any telegraph poles with glass insulators in your travels.

A few years ago, I saw a video done like this out the back window, and somehow they made the playback go in REVERSE. It was so cool to seem like you're looking FORWARD. 😅
@@mikeyh9528 i was trying to figure out how to run the video in reverse. Kinda new at this
Passed my house at 49:55 minutes
These are great. I work for UP but I haven't been out here since 2006, crazy to see how much stuff has changed.
Thanks for that train ride first time iv even been on a amtrak train or any other train unless im playing my Train simulator.
I greatly enjoy your rear view rides..it takes a lot of patience and fortitude. I am trying to trace your route on Google Earth. Identification of junctions and towns would be much appreciated. The rear view is far superior to the side view which is just a green wall of vegetation. This is as close to a cab ride that we will ever get. I noticed in an earlier video that Flatonia got missed, Not serious but well worth another ride! Honestly we don't need to be looking at the interior or eating. You seem to have an stupid troll who writes like a 8 year old. You're doing everything just fine...although some identification with captions would be nice. Looking forward to your three hour ride...New Orleans???
@huskerhank9896 first of all, yes you're right, coming from San Antonio, I missed quite a few towns, Flatonia, Schulenberg, and most definitely Columbus. The reason for that was because I was using my phone and actually standing up and holding it while we were moving and after that hour and a half, I got a lil tired and went sit, at least until getting to Eagle Lake. On this one I just did to Beaumont, I had a super strong suction cup that held it up for the entire two hour ride. I was able to catch a nap because it never fell. As for the 3 hour ride, in December, I'm looking at doing New Orleans to New Iberia, my hometown over the the Christmas break. I love the rear view because like you said, those side views only give you countless trees and is quite boring. Thanks for watching and for your compliments. I'm still kinda new at doing this but some captions are be coming soon. Just gotta figure out how to add all the extras
And here I thought that a railfan was exhausting himself for my pleasure....and it was a suction cup LOL Looking forward to more rides.
Almost had forgotten how much of a Lowland/Swampy area with numerous River 'Forks' it was along the scenery between Humble/Dayton over to Beaumont. Gotta love some Redneck's lost Boat on the side of the Tracks @ 1:03.06. I qualify since I grew up in the Beaumont/Pt. Arthur area. BTW~ Word of unsolicited advice: I enjoyed this Video. Keep doing what YOU want to do on YOUR Channel. Don't let anyone tell you how to DO YOUR Channel. I for one appreciated just the Sounds and Sights of Amtrak... You didn't need to put on a Show. Keep up the Good Work.
My wife Lisa & I did it twice - sept 1st & 2nd 2024 & it was FANTASTIC!!! She was scared of heights but Loved it!!👍🚁👍
Yes it was very exciting and I'd definitely do it again
U don't have any likes on this and it's a two hr vid. U show it from the rear of the train and u talk or visit the train inside.
Yeah Mr Andy, you're right it is lacking the liked. Kinda new at this. I just thought the better train videos are shown from the rear. On a positive note, it's up 1.8k views after just 24 hours. Any tips you may have to enhance these train videos will be greatly appreciated
@davidbashay6286 show ur face on there and yr room that ur in the train. Show ur food that u eat talk to ur audience
@andylang4432 only issues with that suggestion... rode in coach, so there was no room, brought my own snacks, so didn't eat anything that was sold on the train. However, yes I do need to start showing my face. I'm just a little camera shy and haven't gotten over that yet. I'll definitely work on that for my next video, which will be around December for a 3 hour ride that I'm planning
Thanks for posting. Been wondering what the Houston sub MT1 looked like in recent times with all new PTC installs from Chaney to T26. Havent been on here since 2020.
I didn't hear any the horn when it pass on the crossing and i like UP & CPKC Freight
How long did it take to get to Beaumont from Houston? I thought that trains were faster than this one. Damn!
Yeah you would think it'll be faster. But it was 2 hours
On the former route of MoPac's Orleanian and Houstonian, which competed with SP's Sunset and Argonaut.
This was MoPac track they were on???
Narration would have been nice
@edwardkeaton4972 yeah you're right. I just don't like hearing myself on video
Fantastic footage! The constant crackling of food/candy wrappers was driving me nuts though 🤣
@ViewpointUnique yeah that was annoying but a really nice ride tho
A neat ride through beautiful country. It looked like you ran through a shower, or just after one, at about 1:15. It was kind of neat to see damp ties and roadlbed. Thanks for sharing.
@user-AZ-phil yeah there was a lil shower along the way. Very peaceful and relaxing ride
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I was surprised to see a few searchlight signals still in operation.
Thanks glad u enjoyed it 😊
People have forgotten, it was trains that helped build America.
Its hard to get excited when theres so much trees and shrubs blocking your view.

I was on the Sunset Limited leaving Houston in May of 1993 heading to New Orleans
@basketballspinner wow that was a long time ago. I was in my second year of college at that time not even thinking about riding any trains
Is this headed toward Beaumont ?
@@jamesbates5762 nah... heading west, we took that one to El Paso
0:56 this part
@tycarter6284 yep that's it
The first of June of this year we were 6 hours late into Houston....a stub-end station that was bereft of anything worth getting out to see. Head in....back out. At least the local authorities are allowing halfway decent housing to be built. 6.5 Hrs late into New Orleans....thank goodness we had a bedroom and not in coach. Last year were 6 hours late into Emeryville on #5.....3 hours late leaving ChiTown.
@paulkalff6408 yeah.... I've heard the horror stories about these trains being late. Luckily we were coming in from San Antonio and the train was on time. Maybe it was just our lucky day. Who knows???
2:28 that’s me!
Lol.... I just reviewed the video and saw you at the crossing. I plan to do some of that
I love this view - thanks for the video! Is this westbound train 1?
Yes it is a nice view, mostly trees, but still nice. Thanks for watching
