👍🏾 I enjoy videos on the Marantz av7706 since I own one lol. Good comparison video.
Good I’m glad and thanks for being a loyal subscriber, i really do appreciate it.
Kinda useless review. We can all read specs. At this price level we are interested in sound quality.
Yes I understand, my next video will be on the 8k marantz n this arcam. I said in this video both sound quality is superb but unless you experience it yourself you won’t know. If you don’t find value in this review feel free to find it elsewhere.( description of sound quality is also subjective, I can only give you my opinion.)
LG has a better USB Media Player in their tvs.
Good to know thanks
xbox x here, lets take gta5....4k in fidelity the controller has in put lag ..really noticeable, 1080p in monitor mode pcb or whatever it is the xbox x is clearly running this game 20% faster...on screen movement is really obvious. not tried in 1440p as i dont have a monitor, 50" tv Panasonic different between 4k and 1080p is noticeable but not really just looking at it. movement in 4k is not clear as the 1080p.
Good analysis, one day we’ll get that 2160p@120 or above; probably not for a while though. For now I’ll settle for 1440p/1080p@120/144/165Hz.
How are they at low to extremely low volumes? I'm too old for a pair of speakers that need 90dB to sound their best.
I would have to say at low volume it’s alright even at high volumes it’s not too bright
dude your room no good for sound mate, you have opening s in all directions.
Yes that may be true, but it will have to due. If I turn my unfinished basement to a solid theater room the wife will definitely divorce me for sure. Thanks for the comment mate.
I logged in just to give you a thumbs up and comment cause that shit worked.
Good I’m glad, thanks
Below are questions regarding pc and home theater connections. If sound card is dolby and dts certified. But the card has rca out, So connecting to home theater system (also having rca cable input) Does it give us the dolby and dts effect? And does a futre sound card have an hdmi arc? Because now all home theater is now coming with arc connections.
Great question, anything when converting from a digital source to an analog using an AVR your AVR will simulate Dolby/dts but not a true Dolby/dts signal but will still sound good. I run this signal because I use my display port for pc gaming. For example I only get true Dolby anything/Atmos signals when I use HDMI cables 2.0 from pc through AVR even arc. But to answer your question our sound card may have all the capabilities of Dolby/dts it still needs the pc game or movie to have the decodes, in other words to ensure digital Dolby/dts signals until they upgrade USB connections or add display ports to AVRs, HDMI is the only way to get a true digital Dolby signal using a home theater connections. For arc it should work through your AVR, as far as future sound card for arc I’m not familiar with that. I hope this answers some of your questions.
Is the sub supposed to sound clear ?
Cause I just got one and the sound is muffled
It should not be muffled at all, it should have good clarity at normal volume
According to the narrator, what exactly constitutes a big room and a small room???
That is a good point, roughly anything smaller than 20’X20’ I would consider small.
Giving you an update on the Arcam AVR11. I finally got it hooked up this past week. I am running it in preout mode and man that Arcam sounds good. It is a different sound than the Emotiva. I really like the way the Arcam sounds, it is a fuller sound. Man I love that Arcam.
Thanks for your update and yes the arcam is a beast, I still use and love my arcam avr550
@@hoodeddragons yeah the Arcam is a beast for real.
hi,will 5.1 atmos be btter than 7.1.2 truehd?worth the difference of money?
IMO, atmos is worth the money only if it is 5.1.2. If you’re only doing 5.1 you don’t need atmos.
@@hoodeddragons thanks,i m asking because i see alot of 5.1 receivers that are d atmos, the vsx 543 for exampîe and thought the same as you said,so it s better with a older 7.1.2 receiver.
Correct you need at least a 7.1 Atmos receiver
@@hoodeddragons thanks again
I don't know what you mean "amplifiers wont worsen sound quality". Amplifiers have noise floor (SNR), dynamic range (SINAD) and distortion characteristics at different frequencies and speaker impedances, just like DACs do. As can be seen from actual measurements on different audio review websites like Audio Science Review and Audioholics. That will influence sound reproduction and sound quality.
You have a point there, I’m not sure the reference I made in this video without rewatching it, I’m sure I meant that the processor more so produces the sound quality and the amplifier just mostly delivers the extension of the sound
@@hoodeddragons No worries man. We live and learn everyday :)
Just to give you a heads up, someone posted almost the same thing you said about the RCA connection having a hum, he said use the ground connection in the back and connect it to the back of your AV receiver(should have a grounding screw) took away his hum, he used speaker wire. Hope this helps sir, grabbing this amp from all the good content you everyone puts out. Thank you for that.
Thanks for that info, I do appreciate it, enjoy your new amp when it comes
@@hoodeddragons another way to get rid of hum with RCA cables is to get RCA cables that are made with microphone wire like Mogami 2534 wire or Canare L-4E6S wire. That is what I use in my theater and I have no hum.
Thanks
@@hoodeddragons no problem. It's the same type of wire that is used for XLR cables. They do cost a little more than regular RCA cables but they are worth it.
Right on I do own some xlr cables, btw the hum I get is not caused by my cables, processor connection or speakers it’s from the outlaw internal components, and is probably caused by moving it multiple times; but the hum is almost nonexistent. Great comments and conversations, thanks.
ive always loved samsung plug and play hard drive video players through the year . i just wish it had metadata so it shows artwork or movie info. i personally use a nivida shield with kodi and it works great for that but i really wish they would add that feature on samsung
Right on 👍🏽
Auro3D is not object based. At least not normally. There is a THEATRICAL format for the commercial cinema called "AuroMax" which can use Objects like Dolby Atmos does, but it is not available in the home......yet. Auro3D has new owners who are preparing to release a new version of the Auro3D codec for streaming and this new version supposedly may include AuroMax decoding adding the ability to decode more than 13.1 channels.....up to 26.1 channels I believe. The newer version of Auro also has the ability to process Objects from Dolby Atmos or DTS:X, which is really odd and unique. But as far as I know, only the Yamaha A8 has this version of Auro. That version probably won't go industry wide until the new streaming codec becomes available.
Thanks for that info, much appreciated
No you dont need all that. On top of that only a handfull of games support 120Hz let alone VRR 😅
lol
Mine just stopped working, the light turns red and it doesn’t work
Sorry to hear that, thanks for the warning ‼️
I agree. Any native resolution the console targets at? Will look better than upscaling because it'll look fuzzy and weird unless the type of console you have targets that resolution. The series s looks better at 1080p regardless the tv or monitor
I appreciate that input, thanks
I liked where you were trying to go with this, but it was a bit hard to follow. So I guess you're watching through xbox series x and the atmos wasn't mapping correctly for those rear ceiling bouncers? So you got sound to come out of the rear atmos speakers by going to your avr menu an designating them to another position that finally did provide sound? Big question though is the sound appropriate? If it's playing middle data wouldn't that throw off an airplance fly over? My guess it would not matter much but you do want it accurate. You have the disc from techno dad, and the avr test tone but you're saying xbox doesn't map to those? Incedentally, I just noticed the ps5 in one game does map atmos to 9.1.4 except the top rears. In the ps5 settings there is no adjustment other than choose atmos, so maybe that is what is going on with xbox?
I appreciate your knowledge; to be clear this video does not pertain to any console, only that after my atmos test than realized that for one of my rotel processors when set to top front for my atmos channels did not properly run my front heights. Changing it to overhead is not rigging the set-up it’s only the default configuration for the aged rotel mkII processor which is outdated and un update able. Good conversation though. The Xbox reference was only about the Dolby Access app download.
What type of lg tv do you have? I have a lg AI thin Q. But my TV doesn't have vrr but it has ALLM
It’s the lg c9 series
@@hoodeddragons ok appreciate. I just came to the conclusion that the TV I have doesn't need vrr, as long I got the ALLM and 120hz and the game mode I'm good. Because I never experienced frames tears. I'm pretty good on the TV that I got thank you for this video for explaining everything. I heard that the vrr is supported in Xbox series x. Is this true because I own a PS5 and getting a Xbox series x next month.
You’re welcome, VRR is definitely supported on the series-X, should also be supported on the PS5
Nice to see a long term review. I'm about to buy this bad boy with a 100 bucks discount, new. It's going to replace my (LG PB60G) 1280x800, 500 lumen, DLP LED projector that I bought in 2012. I've had a couple of others in between but I have all sent them back due to not having a good enough image quality and rainbow effect. Now I found out that 3LCD is going to fix this. So, with a little bit extra resolution, higher lumen output and better projection technology, I feel this is going to be a good upgrade. My biggest issue being that I have a bigger room, so the projector will have to be ceiling-mounted and it will be in the middle of the room. I wish it had a longer throw so it could be placed near the back-wall, but hey, for better image quality I'm willing to make small sacrifices. I also think the Epson EF-11 is going to be a lot quieter than my current projector. So all in all it's going to be a substantial upgrade, even though the EF-11 is already a three year old model. Another benefit is the low power consumption of max 102Watt which basically means it will only generate as much heat as 1 extra person being in the room. On hot days this is a very big bonus.
Right on, thanks for that informative comment, you will enjoy it as much as I do.
@@hoodeddragons Thanks! I'll let you know when I have tried it out :) In my country we are entitled to use a online purchase like a projector for up to one hour to see if it offers the functionality that you expect it to have. If it isn't satisfactory we can still send it back and get a full refund. So it's not such a big risk. Though I'm pretty sure this is a keeper :) Also nice to see this projector has a normal remote control, though the downside is that if the remote breaks, there are no controls on the projector itself haha.
Sounds good, lol it won’t break
@@hoodeddragons I'm gonna make a backup of the IR signals anyway haha ;) Just because it's possible with an ESP8266 controller. I don't know if you sometimes do things with electronics, but it's fun to mess around with. You can then, for example add an IR remote to your Home Assistant setup and control your projector from Home Assistant. It can then turn off the lights in the room and simultaneously turn on the projector with a single voice command, etc etc.
Nice
If anyone still having an issue I just fixed it. I remove the disc and installed it from the xbox app
Thanks for that info
I use heights. Bookshelf speakers mounted to the ceiling aimed directly toward the listeners. My front heights are mounted at 30° of elevation. My Top-Middles are at 100° (right between my front row and back row) and my rear heights are at 150°. Perfect setup for 6 heights. Object based audio is fantastic. I have had Atmos and DTS:X since about 2018. You have to watch the right movies. When you find one with a good sound mix, you'll know. Its unmistakeable. Auro3D is a European format, mostly found in Germany. It lost the format war to Atmos. You CAN find native Atmos movies from Europe. For example the German version of Twister is available in both Auro3D and Atmos on the German version. I recently upgraded to a Denon X6700H for the 13 channel atmos (7.1.6) and can now take advantage of Auro. I really like the upmixer. I use it quite a lot on older material available in Stereo. For most Multichannel (but non-immersive) material, I use the Neural-X upmixer. And native Atmos for most newer releases. So I'm making frequent use of all three formats.
Sounds to me like you need to get the Spatial Audio Toolkit. Will help you set up your Immersive audio and had call outs and test patterns in Atmos.
That does interest me, but I believe I do know what I did wrong, gonna make my next video in a week on how to make my atmos better. Thanks for the suggestion n comment.
I have to xbox one copy of GTA 5 and it will get to about 29 % then just stop. Ill try to unhook my external HD but i tried on my older xbox one and still dosnt seem to work. thanks man ill try this
Hope it works for you
I have only heard auro on you tube, but it did sound really immersive. I only use a budget Panasonic btp 180 bluray player and a Samsung q 600b with rear speakers, and most blurays are Dts as standard, which I find more immersive than atmos. My upfiring speakers are only 10w each so i dont expect much there. I just feel Dts is a lot more tonally and directionally balanced in a basic lounge set up. I even tried atmos music, Peter Gabriel i/o album, and I honestly prefer the bright mix on a Panasonic sc602 mini hifi to the inside Atmos mix on my tv set up. I'll stick with 5.1 for my situation 🙃
Fair enough, good comment thanks
turbine in Germany sells various movies on blu ray such as Daylight and twister that have both auro 3d and atmos discs in case. ihave both those are the only 2 auro sources I have no special 4k or blu ray player is needed.
Nice, thanks for that info
Are you referring to console stuff or something? On PC, I have Windows Spatial Audio, Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Sound Unbound which includes DTS Headphone: X, DTS: X, and DTS:X Home Theater. And on Dolby Atmos, there's 4 sections. Gaming, Movies, Music, Voice. Each one has settings for "Detailed", "Balanced" or "Warm" and for gaming, a 4th option called "Performance Mode" for enhanced spatial accuracy. And, then you can make custom equalizer settings, too. I have an Asus B550-F Gaming Wi-Fi II with the S1220a codec and dual OP amps so I use Realtek Audio software to control the amps and Sonic Studio III to enhance other settings. I like 'em all except Windows Spatial audio lol. Edit: But, for me, I prefer Dolby Atmos for Headphones with my Creative HS65 Surround headphones. And I don't use the USB plug for my headphones for "virtualized 7.1 surround sound." I use the onboard audio so I can use all those features I listed, including being able to use the "dual OP amps" and set them to extreme so my headphones can get loud enough to damage themselves.
In this case for console, and for my pc has Dolby atmos capabilities for my home theater surround sounds.
did you try putting a usb stick into the avr to try auro3d?
Yes that didn’t work along with the native atmos demos; with these demo files it needs a fast usb processor such as an SSD.
if the auro3d were native tracks then our pc's have no software to process that.
That sounds about right, I appreciate that info thanks
Good you're annoying
This is blind talk, not testing
I will welcome your review between these two, your take will be considered, if the points is sound I might do an update video. Either way thanks for your opinion.
SVS Elevation Dolby speakers had best specs = best crear sounding of 4 KEF's it has 5" driver, but FR, are poor compare to SVS Klipsch Dolby Atmos R-41 SA specs are missing. Great AVR BTW.
Thanks I appreciate that and great info
Which drill bit do you need for it

What drill bit you need to attach the l length to the wall?
You just have to find a one screw that will fit between the bracket, a Philip head

Hi. Can you change the subtitle's color and size when watching movies from USB drive?
I wasn’t able too

I use a mediabridge y adapter on my svs pb 1000. My monolith sub used an xlr cable, which I perfer.
Nice, and good info on the xlr connection, thanks.
Is this a good cable for a 1440p monitor?
1440p/180hz monitor
Yes it is but I would recommend any hertz over 120 an display port cable
@@hoodeddragons why would a display port cable be better? The monitor I got is 180hz
Only if you want to go beyond 120hZ, because that hdmi is only rated to go to 120hz
@@hoodeddragons I see, thank you
Great video. I had my Klipsch Dolby Atmos speakers setup incorrectly and this helped me to select the correct setting. Thanks! I have the Yamaha A3070 and run it in straight for Atmos movies. Works great. I haven't played around with crossovers on my Klipsh speakers and all are currently at 80 Hz which sounds pretty good.
You’re welcome, thanks for this comment
Thanks for making the video! Theres not a lot of material out there for this product :(
You’re welcome, thanks for this comment, it’s always good to know when someone appreciates a video.
they are the same sound quality, Atmos just gives you extra height channels you don't get with true HD, which IMO isn't worth it as most movies put very little info to those channels anyway, if yo hv a good true HD 7.1 esp with 2 subs 7.2 you are fine. enjoy and be happy...
Thanks for your input, that about sums it up; object base surround sound is not fully optimized yet.
Good job! Temp S
