How to Excel as an EMT: Veteran Medic Tips
I got accepted into an EMT program and don’t have a driver’s license. I did not apply to the program with the intention of working on an ambulance, but in a hospital setting. I saw one video where this guy was talking about being a student and being asked to drive. I don’t want to put anyone at risk not having my driver’s license and being put in a situation where I may be asked to drive. Do you think it is common for students to drive? Is this something I should worry about?
What is the difference between a normal paramedic and a rescue paramedic? Does the NYFD ambulance also have the same medications?
I didn't know FDNY had BLS trucks. I'm not too surprised though, its a great cost savings solution.
My boy talks funny
It starts at $12 and some change to be an EMT-B here in Las Vegas…. I make more doing armed security at $20. I want to be able to find a way to be financially set and still do EMS. It’s been a dream of mine to be on the ambulance. It just pains my heart how under appreciated the pay is for how crucial and imperative the work is.
Honestly the first part of this video made me cry. It’s breaks my heart how little EMTs get paid. There needs to be a National increase in EMT wages. God bless you and thanks for sparking reality and wisdom to us.
Love your mindset and message. Thank you, got my first job as an emt in a clinic, untraditional job for an EMT where people are are doing nutritional IVs. Been using your video as a reference.
Thank you
true bro.

When my dad was a paramedic in the early 90s he was getting 8.50 an hour and when he retired as the paramedic supervisor in 2018 he was making 29/hr after 30 years!
Thanks for sharing man
Any time!
Alcohol is amoungst the worst drugs there is, it's a dangerous hard drug masquerading as a legal soft drug. I don't miss it, never feel like there's anything that would be made better with alcohol. Think of how much crime is caused because people were wasted. Every time I see some mindless vandalism I just think about how someone must've poisoned their brain.
I wish my father would listen and stop his over drinking
Oh my gosh... I cannot even imagine this. I am so sorry you had to witness this. I'm a former paramedic, and current physician. I don't know what it is, but during my time in EMS, those were by FAR the most traumatic times of my medial career. Does not even hold a candle to the stuff I saw in medical school and as a physician. We really do need to do better for our first responders, they see the stuff that is so bad that it does not even make it to the hospital.

Purpose over pleasure
facts!
Its not problem to do it on highway, chellnge is to do it in city traffic
Hey I replied to this here: ruclips.net/video/ETsxGMS8D9g/видео.html
Awesome overview.
Thank you!!
If it wasnt for the brainwashing that is marketing in the US, alcohol would be looked at like heroin and meth. The advertisements always show the beautiful people dancing on a beach or in a night club, never the people needing liver transplants lying in hospital beds. Its true that when you booze, you lose. Its why their industry puts millions of dollars into ads so it seems like you're ONLY cool if you drink what they're selling you. Same goes for early tobacco ads.
Keep in mind that plenty of people can drink a bit no problem at all. Just a couple beers on the weekend only, not being trashed all the time. Not making excuses or anything, I'm somebody that shouldn't drink at all! Alcohol is fucked up for me.

This is gold man! Thank you
got you....just uploaded a follow-up video for you
Very seldom do people do the work by the textbook. I worked in a nursing home and interned at a hospital.. we had to get the work done.
Yes ma'am
I figured you were probably 12at the time 😀🔹I initially thought someone had been drinking their breakfast 🍺🍺 as to why they crashed into the building 🔹I will never forget 9-11
Quick question, how many oz of water should men drink daily ?
Hey thanks for the question- I just posted your answer “EMTs Drinking on the Job”
What is happening?
I am helping my partner
Thank you for being a paramedic in the Bronx, my old hood. My dad had Parkinson’s disease and as he got worse and worse he had some sort of dementia and would call 911 constantly even when we told him not to and tried to reassure him. If you ever took patients to Montefiore Hospital you probably met him 😂
I hope all is well!
This is fire 🔥
Thank you so much!!
A 24 hour shift carrying people around is a workout in itself i think of work days as my cardio days 😂
Please note - there is room for improvement in this point of view
I'll make a video explaining
@@nycstreetsmd have you already made it?
I dont have a high school diploma. Yet the school course academy is telling me that i dont need the diploma to get my certification as a emt here in bronx ny... i also asked what are my chances of getting hired without a diploma, and was told good because most private agencies only want the certificate... is this true ? In this video you said high school diploma or ged is required yet i contacted 2 schools and they say otherwise. Im 30 years old.
thanks for the question - I'll make a video answering this question
Best interview 🚑
thanks!
Dope interview
thanks!
this was really relieving to hear, im in emt school and im terrified that when my clinicals happen theyll see me as a burden and that they will not help me
thank you for sharing - I will reply on video
Lots of inclarity in words, only clarity at demonstration
please explain?
I think fire is the way to go now a days. Currently working in ems. Looking to get into fire full time or switch into to nursing. Ems isnt sustainable long term unfortunately.
I hear that....I'll make a video answering your comment - thanks!
Damn bro you got my sub just motivated me to keep pushing through and accomplish my goal
I'm glad it helped!!
Bro I’ve used ems as branch to nursing with that being said (I’m a aemt ) this was literally the most informative video I have seen coming from a RUclips medic . Your right though but I only been in ems 3 years and I know it’s not healthy to live a quality life much respect for the video . I can see you love helping people . I’m finishing up nursing now
I got you...remember you are more important than your job!!
If you're lucky you'll make $20/hr as an emt. But mostly minimum wage
where?
@@nycstreetsmdwestern New York lol. At least nyc has a pension and is municipal through fire service. Private Ems companies here are just above minimum wage with no retirement
You’re a dr? 😮🫡
Yes
Love how you tell it like it is. I’m 59 years old. Stay in shape, (still run 5ks) have a post grad degree and a small business. I’m also starting an EMT program at a local community college. Why? Because now I can. Like you said, you have to be selfish in order to be selfless. I had to take care of myself and my family first. Now I hope I can give back a bit.
Thank you for sharing brother. let me know if theres a video topic you would like for me to speak about
Please explain all knowledge provide emt document
huh?
Hello sir
hi

Can you provide insight on how the ambulance got paid in DR?
I got you!
You guys don't use normal radio mics? That phone is giving off EU vibes.
EU?
I dont have a high school diploma or ged.. yet i have a friend in the field that said i dont need it. As long as i get the needed certificate im good she said. I also called the school for courses information and they said over the phone that agencies only really care about the certification.
ok - apply!
I work IFT and get paid almost 30 an hour. I do 4-12hr shifts and anything over 40 hours a week is OT at time and a half.
In Jersey?
@@nycstreetsmd yep! in Jersey!
