Decided to watch on a whim when RUclips recommended these around ep7 or so and it's been fun to keep up with this over the past few weeks. Lots of neat little insights and details I hadn't noticed before even after a couple of rewatches/reading ahead in the manga. Looking forward to whatever's next along with S2 down the line! If you want a recommendation for something similar in terms of a long story with great world building and character writing then Mushoku Tensei comes pretty close and maybe even surpasses Frieren in some areas, though it's nowhere near as wholesome and the flaws (to say the least) of the main character can be a filter for a lot of people...

What bother's me about Lance's character is how avoidable the controversy is. He's essentially left his family in order to save her from their parent's and in doing so, he's sacrificed his own social status. And the story narrative has taught us time and time again, status is HUGE in this world. He gave up everything for her. Even his goal of becoming a visionary is rooted in wanting to keep her safe. In some way's it's similar to Mash's situation with his own father, plus Lance never behaves sexually or romantic towards her. He's very big brotherly/fatherly, not perv uncle. He's protective and justifiably worried for her. All that said, he's never explicitly said he doesn't like her that way either. It would be so easy to defend against the allegations but instead the story treats this stuff like it's a joke. All they have to do is add one line where he says "not like that" and theirs zero problem here. Yes it'd still be odd he keeps a locket of her with him at all times and he'd still be incredibly overprotective but at that point, it's a personality quirk and character flaw, not incest pedo behavior. One is definitely better than the other.

Hmm. Yes Frieren is freeze / to be cold. But freezing the lake was Lawine her powers are freezing stuff. For Frieren her name is more related to her character then with other names that do hint at the abilities. Also Ehre is stronger by her mana aura. In the previous episode Frieren asked Lawine if she would fight her, and Lawine said no, because she is good in detection and saw her "power" with her surpressed mana aura that stil is big as that of a seasoned mage. So when Fern compared Ehre to the others she was saying you have the most mana of your group so technically you are the strongest. And at last if you want to know who the grandfather of Ehre is, as a soft spoiler not outright telling you I could give you a hint.

The premise of the show is that the demon king was defeated and we get the life after shown from an elf perspective. Voll is over 400years old, beyond the average lifespan of 300 years of dwarves. So yeah he is most likely demented. Sure there is a small chance for another demon king around or the demon king wasn't defeated after all, but very unlikely.

There sure was some drama here.

Himmel is swordsman, eisen is warrior. Idk the different between those two. But that's much I know

Its so cool seeing Kafka and the vice captain starting to work together to make Kafka a actual fighter is a great moment, but Reno and Iharu unlocking their own potential is such a great beat. I can't wait for you to see Reno's return.

I hope you enjoy this anime, it is great! The first episode of this anime was originally planned to be released as a 90 minute movie but was instead changed into 4 episodes released on the same day. To get the full sense of the anime you should watch the first 4 episodes before deciding if you want to continue. That being said I believe you will like it enough to continue the series.

I absolutely get your mood. I grabbed the first few manga digitally as I got sick of waiting for weekly episodes at the time. Then after s1 ended I bought the first 8 volumes physically. Now I have pre-orders for volume 12-14 fhe spin off novel report on division 3 [takes place just after the mushroom fight dinner] and the comedy spinoff manga. Now I'm reading the ritual chapters while waiting for my physical copies to arrive 😂

So small notes: the weapon at Kafka's throat from the division 1 captain has the same 01 on it that the gauntlets that the old general wore, hinting at the fact that the sword is the weapon made from kaiju no 1. The weapon from no 4 has been dorment since the kaiju no 6 incident where it's wielder was killed. The no 6 weapon has never been used by anyone in the 10+ years since it was made. Kikoru's are is only a honju or daikaiju weapon, not a Numbers weapon. The little sigh from Mina gives me life! And her serious face to the military command while she's flashing back to the death of her cat and Kafka's supporting role in her moment of weakness is such good character motivation. Im in the low 90s in the manga, if I remember correctly the anime ends around chapter25? Maybe as high as 30. Can't wait for you to catch up 🫡🫡

So, did Mina's two conversations (with Kakfa and the operations officer) change the meaning of the end credits to you? For me it was an awesome revelation to realize she has been working on the report defending Kafka rhe whole time, while reviewing pictures and reports submitted by the members of the 3rd division. No 2 is a huge refrence to godzilla, from the theme to his arrogance. Even 1972 is a tie in as it's the date of one of the last hensai era godzilla movies XD

I love that the tiger starts to warn Kafka to keep his distance, the realizes that something worse is nearby and growls at the sky bomb I love the reading that Mina could have shot Kafka, but because he is Kafka, she broke orders and took him into custody instead of doing the standard operation

Toho let them use overtones of the Godzilla theme for #10 and #2's themes, so the reveal of #10's full power really shows off that sense of dread. Just a fantastic episode, the show of the off duty units showing up, the on duty unit scrambling to respond and still managing to hold their ground even against a night raid. It's great seeing Kikoru acknowledged that Reno was useful to her, proving she's matured as well in the last few months.

Reno tries so damn hard. The dude is just a legit friend. And Iharua did a great job trying to keep up even through everything was over his head.

It's so good seeing the crew working together and doing an awesome job of it, proving they are the right people for the job. Kikoru really feels like she desperately needed a father / older brother figure, and Kafka is absolutely the great mascot / older Northern figure that the whole division needed / love to have around. I love ethe juxtaposition of Kafka's human form is useless outside of combat but sharp at kaiju anatomy, while his kaiju form absolutely floors everyone with its strength. Mina's cannon is amazing and I love that it has two use modes, the major use shown here being its sniper mode where she has time to charge up and counter balance herself with a gravity support effect to prevent herself from getting knocked off balance by her own shot. Her use of it while needing to be mobile comes later and the tiger plays such an awesome role when she can't take the time to fire off such focused slow shots. The Kaiju have been around since at least a previous era in Japan, as implied by the wall art in the bath scene and later confirmed by the vice captain. It's something that gets delved into deeper later in the series / manga. I absolutely love they're showing off the specialization of the characters, even if only subtlety for the minor characters. The tactics of the military recruit, the creativity of the rich boy. The brutal strength of Kikoru. The focus on crowd control of Reno. Iharu's specialization doesn't come up until after season one ends, but it's got a ton to do with his attitude and sense of rivaly.

Interesting detail: the Fortitude level is based off the Japanese earthquake scale, so its logarithmic, so a 7.8 isn't 1 stronger than a 6.8, its 10x. So Kafka might be 1000x stronger then the 6.8 I absolutely love the use of the music for Kafka's combat And Kikoru is a very cute Tsundere, but some people forget she is half Kafka's age. I like how competitive and competent they keep both Mina and Kikoru the whole series, unlike so many series where the female characters stop existing 80% of the time. I like your thoughts on the suits. You'll find out more about person talent and the suits soon too

They actually addressed part of the fitness question your asking in the episode. Almost everyone applying to division 3 are above the average compared to the previous years, and it's suggested that it's probably because of Mina's growing fame. On Mina's reaction to Kafka: read it thenother way around. She saved him a few weeks ago from a kaijuu and didn't even meet his gaze. Now she's watching him try one more, and the fact he stands up on a broken leg, when he couldn't do that when she saved him a few weeks ago, that arch of her eyebrow is a sign she's noticed he is finally trying again. My suggestion: watch the tiny details. Mina's ongoing reactions to Kafka stay very, very small until one specific moment, but they are there, slowly piling up on one another.
