Visible Darkness

Der Leiermann
"Der Leiermann" ("The Hurdy-Gurdy Man"): Back of the village stands a hurdy-gurdy man, cranking his instrument with frozen fingers. His begging bowl is always empty; no one listens, and the dogs growl at him. But his playing never stops. "Strange old man. Shall I come with you? Will you play your hurdy-gurdy to accompany my songs?"

Mut!
"Mut!" ("Have Courage!"): He shakes the snow from his face and sings cheerfully to silence his heart's stirrings, striding into the world, against wind and weather: "If there's no God on earth, then we ourselves are gods!"
Das Wirtshaus
"Das Wirtshaus" ("The Inn"): He comes to a graveyard and wants to enter. But all the rooms in this "inn" are taken; he resolves to go on his way with his faithful walking-stick.
Der Wegweiser
"Der Wegweiser" ("The Signpost"): "Why do I take secret ways and avoid the other travelers? I've committed no crime. What foolish desire drives me to seek the wastelands?" He journeys endlessly, seeking peace and finding none. A signpost points the way: "I must travel a road where no one has ever yet returned."
Täuschung
"Täuschung" ("Deception"): A dancing light wants to lead him astray, and he is glad to go along. "Behind ice and night and horror" it shows him a warm, bright house and a loving wife within. Illusion is all he has to go on.
Der Stürmische Morgen
"Der stürmische Morgen" ("The Stormy Morning"): The storm is an image of his heart, wild and cold like the winter.
Im Dorfe
"Im Dorfe" ("In the Village"): Dogs bark, and all the people are asleep, dreaming of success and failure, finding on their pillows what eluded them in life. "I am done with all dreaming. Why should I linger among the sleepers?"
Letzte Hoffnung
"Letzte Hoffnung" ("Last Hope"): He gambles on a leaf quivering in the wind. If it falls from the tree, all his hopes are dashed. He falls to the ground himself and weeps over the "grave" of his hopes.
Die Krähe
"Die Krähe" ("The Crow"): A crow has been following him. It has never left him, expecting to take his body as its prey. "It won't be much longer now. Crow, show me constancy unto death!"
Einsamkeit
"Einsamkeit" ("Loneliness"): He wanders, like a sad and lonely cloud, through the bright and happy Life around him. "Even when the storms were raging. I was not so miserable."
Frühlingstraum
"Frühlingstraum" ("Dream of Spring"): He dreams of springtime and love, but wakes to cold and darkness and the shrieking of ravens. He sees frost leaves painted on the window. When will they turn green? When will he again embrace his beloved?
Rast
"Rast" ("Rest"): Only now that he has stopped to rest does he realize how tired and sore he is. And in the quiet he feels for the first time the "worm" which stings him inwardly.
Irrlicht
"Irrlicht" ("Will-o'-the-wisp"): The false light of the will-o'-the-wisp has led him astray, but he is used to that. Every path leads to the same goal. Our joys and sorrows are but a trick of the light. Every stream reaches the sea, every sorrow its grave.
Wasserflut
"Wasserflut" ("Flood"): The cold snow thirstily sucks up his tears; when the warm winds blow, the snow and ice will melt, and the brook will carry them through the town to where his sweetheart lives.
Frozen
"Erstarrung" ("Frozen"): He looks in vain for her footprints beneath the snow where she once walked with him through the green meadow; he wants to melt away the snow and ice with his tears. He has nothing to remember her by except his pain. She is frozen in his heart; if it thaws, her image will flow away.
Filthy degenerate 😂

Thank you 🙏
I think I am Music addict. "Hi, my name is.... and I am an alcoholic".. I like to Paint a lot, and I have ran out of music to listen to, since I paint a lot. My brain hurts from all the stupid stuff I had listen to past year. Last night I listened to Rammstein, pretty wild ride. And Even Adiago for strings (Which if my favourite) or the Devil's trill sonata makes my ears bleed. The Rammstein album was JUST a Experiment. Should I take a break from sounds? probably. What I wanted to write is that This music you somehow made is nice. Great adventure for me. I see you wrote it, The music. I can't even imagine the process to do that.
The process can be very similar to painting or any other creative outlet for that matter. Once you learn certain techniques and forms you can then start incorporating it all into what is uniquely 'you'. Something I used to really enjoy listening to when I painted were Johann Hummel's piano concerto 2 in A minor and 3 in B minor. Especially the B minor concerto. Thank you for listening, and if you do decide to listen to the concerti I hope you enjoy them. He has always been a big inspiration of mine.
really not sure how I end up here but I like it
Glad you did make it here. Thanks for listening and glad you enjoy it. I put the full Requiem up as well if you'd like to hear it in its entirety.
Never quit. You are your only audience. It doesn’t matter if you never get a single like. It’s all for you and you alone.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I know you are correct. When I compose and end up being the sole listener though, it feels so much like an empty process. The friend who passed was a huge supporter of live theatre and the arts, and he was always a source of inspiration and encouragement. I probably won't completely stop composing. Who knows I may compose more in honour of his memory. It just hurts losing someone so close. Thank you for your words.
What a beautiful tribute to your friend! You MUST keep composing. You have the gift.
So sorry for your loss.n The music is amazing brother !
Brilliant work...Let me know when you want another video made with your music brother..People LOVED the last one we put up on the channel...This has a driving pace ! Glorious !!!!
I would greatly appreciate it a video were to be done with this piece. It would mean a lot to me in this trying time.
@@visibledarkness1181 Sure...we can do that brother....
@@visibledarkness1181 Can I keep the loop...download it as an MP4? It would be easiest...the loop visual works..
@@SophiaMusik of course. Do whatever you would like or need to. Thank you so much.
@@visibledarkness1181 Ok brother...give me 3 days on this...will upload...email me a description/dedication to your friend ....you know my email brother ..

My condolences on the loss of your dear friend, VD... A thoughtful gesture to compose a requiem in his honor Cheers...
Interesting and so creative! Melody has a haunting quality. (My cat went for the snowflake on the screen.)
Thanks. Did your cat try just the once, or were there multi attempts and phased attacks?
@@visibledarkness1181 He was sitting on the floor and noticed the snowflake morphing up on my screen. First he stood on his hind legs with his paws on the edge of the desk to check it out. It was too exciting. He jumped up on the desk and stared at it while I listened to the rest of the music.
What piano VST/digital instrument is this? It sounds pretty realistic at times
Sorry for succh a late response. I use the sonivox eighty eight ensemble library. Some of it is just exported straight from finale where I'll maybe add a compressor or stereo spread. If i decide to really take my time with a piece ill do further editing in presonus studio one.
Very interesting and unique piece.. wonderful arrangement! Cheers VD
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy it. For whatever reason I'm really enjoying the sounds of these two instruments together lately.
@@visibledarkness1181 Very welcome...
Argus ! This is amazing Viz !👏
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy it. I'm currently working on another movement for this sonata. How have you been though?
@@visibledarkness1181 I have been pretty good...busy as can be...I feel like taking a well needed break from music..lol...how does one break a life long compulsion ?
@@SophiaMusik well what worked for me, all I had to do was lose everyone in my life who had any sort of music appreciation and understanding, spend about 16+ hours each day writing up to 6 different pieces at a time before finally finishing a 4 movement symphony, 3 movement piano concerto, and a 4 movement piano quintet, then play them for someone to receive the feedback of, "of. It's nice." 😅
@@visibledarkness1181 Conservatories hated me till they didn't. Things are changing. Even in the work place..having a Bachelors degree means nothing anymore, and nor does masters of PHDs..The thunder breeze and rushes of wind of the forest is all that matters musically speaking. I threw out everything they ever taught me...
@@SophiaMusik I don't believe composition is necessarily something one can teach. Sure the fundamentals, but not the nature.
I'm enjoying this very much, Viz! You definitely have your own voice as a composer. 💜
Thank you. I have been enjoying writing music again. It may have taken a few years to get over that 'burnt out' feeling, but I'm glad I have.
Beautiful melody... love this arrangement! Cheers VD
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy it. I'm not entirely sure why, but I've kind of been working on these like a madman I will be putting out the next movement shortly.
Brilliant track... cheers VD
Very interesting sounds. I'm keen to hear more.
Thank you. I put out the second and 4th movements. Third (scherzo) soon to come too.
This is an awesome composition, my friend. In my opinion you rival some of the great composers of the past. We don't need comparisons; this work stands on its own greatness. I would love to see you get a live performance by a top violinist. 💖
Thank you. I too would love to hear that. Now to find a harpsichord with a sustain pedal 😅
Love the arpeggiation my friend ! As usual, it's delightful !
Thank you. This one started to drive me a bit bonkers when mixing the violin to get it to sound halfway decent. So I'm glad I can finally be done with this and move on to the next. 😅
I hear you...I am like that too...Music is to be breathed, not merely remembered...@@visibledarkness1181
Hello. And yaaaaaaaaaas. The small keys sound like an upright. Yet the piece is grand. I paint. Good luck.
Hello. I'm very much a fan. This is striking. As the arrow. Gripped from its quiver. The cool chilly air from wence the morning came. Is stilled by thy mind. One hand. The tool itself is it's instrument. But a fractured blink. And the sinew pulls the shaft back in to the crescent. The bow is loosed. Good luck
Wonderful, love this one! Brilliant work here Cheers VD
Beautiful piece... love the dynamics Cheers VD
Brilliant arrangement, VD Cheers brother, hope you are doing well!
Thank you. I hope you're well too. I Just survived the tropical storm in southern California. It really wasn't that bad, just a lot of rain and some flooding. Now it's a new day and the sun is shining again.
@@visibledarkness1181 Cool... glad you got through it! Enjoy your day, brother

Thank you. I'm glad you are enjoying it. This movement is probably my favorite of them.
I think, you must have successed with your wonderful talent👏👏👏🌟✨
Perfect as musician and composer 👏👏👏🌟✨
You have a unique voice as a composer. Am enjoying your music very much. Tonal, chromatic, complex, detailed. I like your orchestration a lot. Some musical structure, recurring motifs, but you also flow in an episodic way that is charming. Also really love your use of harmony. Wow, this is simply very fine music. You MUST keep composing, my friend. 🥰 🎵
Thank you so much for those kind words, and for the encouragement.
Epic!😍
Thank you. I should be uploading the second and third movement today sometime too
