With nearly 2hrs of underwater footage compiled from 2 days of filming this is my most ambitious project to date. I hope you all find it entertaining and hopefully provoke a few thoughts about how you go about your barbel fishing as well.

Autumn on the Tidal Trent @ Sutton on Trent.
What were they feeding on mate?
3mm halibut pellets. i usually put a couple of droppers worth in the area I'm fishing the pellets sink in amongst the gravel and encourage the barbel to feed as they naturally would. Just put baited rig over the area and they'll soon find it.
@@paulfloyd6790 Interesting to see the grayling getting stuck in mate.
@@michaelbeale42 yes the dove is one of my favourite rivers.
Great work matey. Maybe they were just preoccupied on the pellet and not interested in the larger bait, it does happen a lot, hemp is well known for it so why not pellets. Some clonking roach there matey would be nice to get a few of those out.
thanks.

Great footage Paul, very pleasant to watch! 👌👌
Also wasn't till I watched this vlog that you could catch barbel and chub in France.👍
france, belgium, holland, germany, austria czech republic all have same barbel sp. as here in uk. several other species of barbel can be caught in spain as well. The biggest barbel species is luciobarbus esocinus which is found in iraq and grows to 6ft and over 100lb.
@@paulfloyd6790 thanks for that information I never new that every day is a school day👍
Great vlog PAUL this was something different to watch on RUclips.👍
Thanks Paul, Glad you enjoyed it.
Hello mate love the videos , can you advise what stretches you fish on the Warwickshire avon are they day tkt etc if so how and where to get them?
The stretch I fish is a private syndicate but a leamington anglers or Birmingham anglers ticket will give you access to the opposite bank.
try manor farm near Harvington, had some monsters out there
Hello you happy new year
I think you should edit this Paul as it is interesting in places, especially the last 15 minutes... good effort tho
Some nice tench there and that dark bream, mint!
Drennan Acolyte float rods are a supered with lots of power. Taken lots of chub over 4lb and into 5lb’s. It will most certainly take bigger fish as well. You can’t really go wrong with Drennan.
Nice little video Paul. Looks like a nice stretch too 👍
Notice your fishing the fastest bit of river,no chance of fishing from the other bank in that nice slack, fish won’t be using up much energy in the slack water, waiting for food to come along and pick it off?
Erm
Amazing 😂
Did you say that's a 15ft rod?!
sea angling in a river ,yes the trent is a big river but you see this type of sea fishing tactics on the middle to upper swale
Do you need a license to fish in a tidal river and what sort of bait would you use?
Very nice!
Enjoyed watching your video, very informative. which rod would you recommend for trotting Drennan Acolyte ultra or plus ?
Haven't been able to get on my local rivers for long time (Devon, floods snow etc !) Now it's close season but you're video clips give me something to look foreword to!!!
Nice video mate , no bullshit totally watchable , no plugging just a joy to watch
Robert Moore thanks
so beautiful!
Can't wait to watch this all the way through! Given me an idea too... ;) Thanks Paul!
very good video. Interesting to see how the fish feed. What I have come up with this video aswell as stalking barbel is that it's likely that the barbel have a suspicion of what the hookbait is..it acts a little differently, but their instinct of having to feed takes over and they take the bait. I've stalked many barbel that took the hookbait when all the loosefeed was eventually eaten by them.. You could see in the video the barbel knew something was wrong with that hookait, and it still put it's mouth right near it. A couple of more barbel in the area, and it's likely you would of had a take, not because the set up is so great, or because the bait is so wonderful, but because the barbel are feeding machines. The only reason why barbel are harder to catch now is not because they're so smart, but because the quantity of the fish has diminished over the years. Another thing I do is use roughly the same size loosefeed as the hookbait. For example I will put in some 4mm pellets, but I would also use just as much 10mm pellets if that's what i'm using as the hookait. Might aswell get them feeding on the hookbait kind of feed. For your long hair rig missing the take, you could just reel in a little bit. This is what match fisherman do when they use long rigs to feeders to straighten it out. I'm sure you already knew that though. What was also interesting is that even with pike in the area, the dace and roach were feeding quite comfortably. It just shows you that fish lose their inhibition when they're on the feed. Same goes for barbel, which is why we catch them LOL... They're just feeding machines. Good video.
i realize I am kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Arthur Jamal flixportal :D
@Junior Jake Thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I appreciate it !!
@Arthur Jamal You are welcome =)
cool
Fishing the lower tidal Trent next season for the first time.. Can't wait to get those big feeder out.
Great vid I've subscribed can you return favour thanks
Hi Paul. Can you run me through the Main hook bait you was using for most of the catches of the barbel and what was you putting in the feeder or how much feed ? Thanks
Hi Steven During my stay I used either single or double 16mm Cultbaits Creed boilies. At night I often added a wrap of matching Creed paste. I was using 3oz maggot feeders to which I was adding a couple of halibut pellets and Creed boilies that had been ground down in a Korda Crusha.
That is one serious river. Great vid.
Some nice lumps there Paul
+Jon Barlow Thanks Jon.
+Paul Floyd Hopefully be joining you guys next season @ Sutton....Hopefully!!!!!
