Regardless of what others say about Bob Geldof, he pulled off the impossible (at a time where there was no internet 🛜 and satellite 📡 broadcasting all across the world was difficult) for a really good cause.

I’ve heard people say that Bob Gildulf was being difficult, rude and/or demanding but from what I see he did that with good intentions. He was serious about raising money for impoverished poor countries who were in desperate need of help. That’s what I see.

Queen absolutely stolen the show and Live Aid without them is not Live Ais, is a parade. Freddie on that stage was a razor, a livewire, a magnet, a force of Nature. And the rest of the band was so natural and easy...

We still love Freddie Mercury; the world continues appreciating the wonder and fantastic results of 1985's Live Aid as Queen's 20 minute concert still entertains, remaining a constant reminder even here in 2024.

I hope in years to come we look back on this with collective pride. Unlike the US there wasn’t an insurrection but in acutely difficult circumstances, three honourable parties and their leaders acted in the national interest. To stand aside, to group together and set aside interests. It may have been a one off but it showed the ability to work in the national interest across party divisions and in an increasingly polarised world, it’s important to remember that it is possible.

Just wondering bc I’m considering buying one of the 2 DVDs and wondering if this is on one of them. Interesting what was going on behind the scenes and was this the first concert to raise money for the poor like “We are the world”?
