More often than not this summer/fall I've had schools of fish swim under the boat as I was fixing my gear. In this video the it happened as I was reeling in the first strike (Sandab). I quickly started reeling in the second line through the school and was rewarded with what fought like a hatchery coho. 74 cm, 12 lb red, @ 70' in 136' in front of Gillingham Islands/Saxe point at 7:35 worth getting up for. Anchovy 5' behind a 7" tomic (used instead of a flasher).

Managed to bring a wild coho to net by the green can on anchovy. This was shortly after someone nearly ran me down. He did end up with a pair of hooks on his gear, I got the rest back. It wasn't even that crowded this morning.

1st Chinook 2024 gaff release

Initially I thought I hung up on the bottom. The first Chinook of the season gets to grow up. It took three attempts but I managed to do the recommended gaff release. The first attempt the salmon was still too energetic. The second attempt caught on the first of the two barb-less 1/0 hooks. Third time was a charm.

Finally broke the skunk this year with a 3 lb coho. It danced all over the surface. Camera was off center so most of the action was missed. In the end it was wild, so back it went to grow some more. Break away flasher worked well.

Woke up to Cooper's Hawks trying to drive the Great Horned owl out of their nesting area. When we returned from our morning walk Crows and Cooper's hawks were harassing this Great horned Owl. The crows relented but the hawks persisted all day.

Three years after she conjured up a Great Horned owl in our oak trees, Jessie is at it again. This time the local Coopers Hawks were not happy about it

Possibly. I'd like to think so. It was on the bottom, lots of head shakes. PMax was showing lots of fish scattered throughout the huge herring ball.

Nice job. I wonder if you built the Flint skiff hoping it was a bit more stable for fishing? Both of these projects have my attention, but I'm leaning toward the Flint. Thanks for posting these videos.
The dory is suitable for rough water, especially when loaded. I use it for fishing on the ocean. The Flint takes up to a 4 hp motor and is suitable for calm days on the ocean and handles all the lake weather conditions I've been in.
