    Great little hike! Thanks for sharing! Sophie and I recently made our second trip out there and the first half of this trail was incorporated into our hike. We came across that better alternative to cross when coming back; however, the water level was high enough that even those big rock were partially submerged!!!

      Yeah I went out there once and they were like "the trails across the river are closed" and I just turned around and left cause I had already done the trails on the inside of the river 😆 But the river can be pretty when it's full too!

    Been out to Meridian twice this past year - once trying to film for content, but I just didn't find enough that I wanted to use for a full video. I'm thinking about revisiting in the Spring and maybe some of the views will be a bit different... HOWEVER, I really like this place. Great hikes, great trails. Just no "big views" that I encountered.

      I'm actually a few months ahead on videos, trying to slow down haha! This one, and believe it or not, Little Forest Junior trail are my favorite here. If you didn't see it LFJ has a cool little pool/spring area just slightly off the path that was really pretty! But yeah going in Spring I bet it definitely looks better! I'll keep an eye out for your video when you get it recorded!

      @@HikingTexasTrails I did do a short of the spring pool on the LFJ trail. If I recall right, I turned this trip into a couple of shorts rather than a long form video. It's really one of my favorite parks to hike.

    We haven't done this trail yet. I've seen it from top of the Spillway Trail and it looks like it provides some interesting views. I'm not normally a big fan of when I see trails with such many switchbacks as, I believe, they are more designed with mountain bikers in mind than hikers :(. Would like to get those alternative views of the spillway, though.

  • @ADudeADogHiking
    @ADudeADogHiking 9 месяцев назад

    Love the challenge and love that you are bringing others along for the journey. Sophie and I have been out there twice in the past few months. The Spillway Trail was one we did on the first visit and had the pleasant surprise at the overlook. They have several blocks at the water crossing, but there is still not way to be sure that even these won't be underwater depending on the the water level!!! Sophie and I subscribed! We would love for you to also check out our channel, if you haven't yet. We just got back into hiking about May or so and starting filming at the end of October so we are new to this also. Perhaps we will run into on the trail sometime!
