Ravel Scarbo from Gaspard de la Nuit ~Tingting Zhang, Piano
Hi there, I'm excited to share this masterpiece with all of you. Scarbo, along with Ondine and Le Gibet from the set "Gaspard de la Nuit" is Ravel's masterful creation based on the 19th century poet Aloysius Bertrand's poems. If you read Bertrand's poems, you will be amazed at how vividly Ravel captured the spirit and the scenes through his ingenious use of register, texture, and timbre of the keyboard.
Recording this piece is not easy. It took me several months to get ready due to the difficulties of the piece and my unpredictable practice schedule. However, it's extremely gratifying to see how far I've come throughout the process. If you're working on this piece and have troubles with ce...

    Most people who can only play one thing on the piano can play chopsticks. This piece is the only thing I ever learned to play, I can't read music, I just got someone with the patience of a saint to teach me bar by bar. I must have played those first few bars millions of times as I slowly programmed my muscle memory. Being the only thing I could play, it's fair to say I mastered it, played it in every style going to fully explore the notes. Those top notes should melt into one another as they tumble and cascade into the lower melody. I think of it like pouring milk, one of Schubert's friends remarked when he would play it himself that it sounded like tiny mice running up and down the keys. You have nailed this too in that regard, and I'm more comfortable with your interpretation than many renowned pianists. You could have saved my friend a lot of patience and energy if you had posted this back then haha

    Personally I think sometimes the RH can be a bit softer, let the LH speak, and be shaped more. The trio could flow a bit more, have less rubato, and have some more dynamic. Other than that great tutorial!

    I want to know. Why or it seems you almost have only asian students? Or their roots are in asia. I know you come from china too. But here in germany thats the case too. Most or many new students at universities of music or other higher musical schools have asian roots too. To make classical music seems very very popular in china, japan and so on.

    Thanks for all your hard work to explain this piece. How do you fit the rhythms 8 against 5 in bar 6 , dont see any arrows showing this. The arrows in bars 2-4 agree with my drawn arrows on my manuscript, so we agree on this ! Bit more practical detail on pedaling would help. Thanks, Ron

    I never grow tired of listening to this hauntingly beautiful piece. But it wasn't until I decided I wanted to try to learn to play it, thinking it seemed an easy piece to sight read, that I realized how difficult it really is. Your performance here is one of the best I have heard: a perfect balance of delicacy, fire, the moments of torment in the left hand trills, all the while bringing out all of the melodies with crystal clarity. I had not known about Schubert's failing health when he wrote (improvised) this piece; on this performance I believe I can feel his longings, regrets perhaps, and ultimate sense of resolution and peace. Thank you for this gift.

    謝謝老師分享!分享伍德筆記❤❤❤ 中級階段5個要點: 1-0. 基本功(練習時間控制33%內),有量的積累;才有質的突破,技巧實現音樂;音樂體現技巧,正規的鋼琴學習不可或缺得部分,很枯燥。 1-1. 手指:跑動的速度、獨立性、指尖的力量、觸鍵的方法 1-2. 最直接的訓練方式:音接、琶音、和弦、練習曲 2-0. 音樂表現力:曲子的強弱、性格、意境、想法、特點表現出來 2-1. 如何培養:需要知道曲子最終彈出來是怎樣的、情緒是怎樣的,標準示範很重要 2-2. 平常要多聽音樂,RUclips對於學音樂,是個非常好的資源,想聽誰的曲子、聽誰演奏都能找的到。 3-0. 要接觸不同時期/作曲家的作品 3-1. 巴洛克時期:巴赫為代表 3-2. 古典樂派:海頓、莫札特、貝多芬、克爾門第、庫郎的小奏鳴曲 3-3. 浪漫派:舒曼、蕭邦的圓舞曲 3-4. 20世紀後:具有代表性的熱門歌曲等等 4-0. 養成日常的練琴習慣:每天60分,每周5天,程度、曲目決定所需的練習時間。 4-1. 投入的時間、付出的心思,和獲得的功夫是一定成正比的! 4-2. 培養「用心」練習的習慣:用耳朵認真地聆聽自己、動腦筋花心思的練琴、用心地要求自己做到最標準。練琴是腦力活動,而不是機械的動手指重複的盲練。不要一直重頭練,要分段練、用不同的速度練、有針對性的練,才是有效率的練。 5-0. 視奏能力:從最開始就要培養「讀譜能力」打好基礎、讀譜流暢,到了中級曲子難了長了,才能順利的把曲子學下來。 5-1. 視奏訓練:找比自己的程度簡單一點的曲子,每天花10分鐘左右,每周5天,視奏2~3手小曲子。2個月就能看到進步。 5-2. 練「視奏」要練習同時讀2條五線譜,不建議練單手。

    Excellent check list. Excellent teacher. 1.) Don't play right away. Look over the whole piece of music first. a. Clef Sign, Key Signature, Time Signature b. Hand position c. Starting and ending notes/chords d. Look for I-VI below I. Patterns (Scales and chords, broken or blocked) II. Range of the piece (highest and lowest notes in both clefs) III. Jumps or changes of hand position. 8va? 8vb? IV. Articulations (Legato, Staccato, Slurs; Phrases where singer would take a breath ) V. Black key notes (From key and accidentals) VI. Fingerings (Changes due to III) 2.) Ghost Play (~ 1 minute) 3.) Establish Tempo and Count (Deliberately slow) Dynamics (Loud, Soft, crescendo, diminuendo)? Repeats (D.C. al Fine or Codas)? Pedaling? Unexpected Rests or Silent Measures?

    • @tingtingzhang
      @tingtingzhang 5 дней назад

      A few things can help change your habit: 1. Be more familiar with the keyboard which requires daily practice on scales, chords, arpeggios, etc. for at least 20 minutes. 2. Sightread pieces with a small range (within an octave) for a few months to gain more confidence and comfort before trying more difficult pieces. It's fine if you accidentally hit some wrong keys but try to keep your eyes up. It takes time!
