I was really hoping to see an original song from you and here it is! If I can be so bold, I’m proud of you for putting your own work out there. Of course, all lyrics are in the eye of the beholder but I think I can relate to some degree. I’m nearing 50 and depression visits me less frequently these days than my utterly chaotic 20s. It is indeed like an old friend, being so familiar. Almost like a blanket. That said, maybe I’m so used to it that I’ve just integrated it into my life. I prefer to be alone most of the time anyway so it’s difficult to tell where I end and my old friend begins. But I’ve come this far and I’m, for want of a better word, happy. Keep calm and carry on, and keep writing beautiful songs. And for the love of god don’t delete anything! Worst habit I have, deleting everything on bad days…. RUclips videos, recordings, song ideas, everything because I’m suddenly convinced it’s all shit, regardless of what my peers tell me.

Lovely arrangement! Five seconds flat is a pretty damn good album, definitely a highlight for the year. If you haven't seen it, I recommend checking out the beautiful cover that Maro and Lizzy did of Bon Iver's Hey Ma back in 2020.
