Just a Hexagonal grid pattern, thought I’ve seen other people use them to do molecular models for a point of interest.

The part that was lathed down wasn’t the same that got drilled and tapped. The lathed section was an inner rod for a disconnection slip joint.

False…. It’s been there for nearly a year without any issue. Meanwhile it’s actually not that heavy, not much different than two or three average Americans standing together in one spot.

This will be my second full sized shop space. And while I agree with you that painted surfaced get completely filthy over time when it comes to metal working or woodworking, I personally find it worth while to simply clean up frequently in order to have a not only a less dusty environment to work in but also an aesthetically pleasing shop space for clients to visit.
