From the video I've seen of the Remaster games, I like the original TR1 so much more because areas like the Lost Valley feel like they are deep underground due to a lack of a sky. I get that it was not meant to be that way and it was just about technical limitations, but that's how the original felt when I played it and it's cozier, I think.
