Thanks very much Dan, an excellent presentation and analysis of the events of the day. The complexity of modelling downdraught and then outflow boundaries will likely remain a challenge for NWP for quite some time......there is no way without an incredibly dense observation network, and incredibly fast assimilation into NWP......and even then it would remain tough and impossible for elevated events.

Thanks Dan, really enjoyed this analysis, interesting to compare it with the 16th August 2020 in terms of synoptics.
