Daytime use doesnt drain much battery at all. Ive never used an entire battery strictly as daytime but id imagine it would be close to 6 hours. Thermal uses a bit more, might get 4 hours there. The only feature that drains the battery quickly is IR illumination, so not a concern for daytime use.

@@theoutdoortrader Thank you for the response!! Is the eye relief ok? Im thinking of putting 2 on my precision rifles. But iv been thinking why not put 2 more on my other 308’s too

@@EatingTheDawgs theres essentially no traditional eye relief as its an lcd screen but you’re eye does need to be fairly close to see the full screen inside the housing. Placing your eye about 1” from the eyepiece is about the ideal relief. When you get 1.5” off the scope you’ll start losing field of view. I’d imagine it would be fine on a 308, but long action or magnum cartridges might bite you.

It is a hotspot indicator. I’ve found it helpful in detecting smaller heat signatures at distance that I might have otherwise overlooked.

It's a great spot indeed, thank you! And, you are right! After almost 10 years of living on this land, I've never taken a deer. They find sanctuary here, and watching them brings us a lot of peace. It's my strategy for a day when we do need the meat!

The first deer was ranged at 100 yards. At 0:59 I use the ranging feature again on a deer at 29 yards. 2:18 shows multiple attempts to acquire range, and in NV mode the IR laser can be seen flashing during measurement in the upper left quarter of the reticle where a small ranging reticle appears for measure.

The video starts in thermal with PIP window in NV. I switch through settings a few times but have my thermal view set to a very small x reticle, while the NV images show the larger graduated mil-ranging reticle.

Yes the PIP shows the thermal image simultaneously with the Digital/NV image, or vice versa.

Yes, PIP must remain on the top half of the screen but can be set to Left, Center, or Right. PIP can also be quickly turned off by holding the right button down and can be turned back on the same way.

I think you are right the zulus has better NV, but having used the ThermNight for a bit now I can say having the thermal capability is worth the trade. The detection is simply unmatched. There are things you would never find with the NV alone, even at 4k.
