please tell the sofware name that you used while designing the scenario thanks
Saw this years back. Beautifully simple. John, This is a GEM you produced for people like me. with no SAN background.
Thanks for your great video, which makes it easy to understand those complex concepts. It did inspire me a lot! Thanks again:)
The best video in 2024 that I have found which explained the host layer, fabric layer and storage layer and how things work end to end high level… very information. Thanks for posting this.
I know this is 7yr old, but I have to laugh... Only Cisco would say MDS was a success. The only place I've ever seen an MDS was on eBay. FC _IS_ Brocade and Qlogic. (which is why everyone sticks their logo on those two. even EMC and IBM! and back when they were a thing, Sun.) "I need 20 subnets" As _THE_ network engineer, that's far from the impossibility everyone thinks. Consult the oracle (spreadsheet, IPAM, notebook, whatever) to find 20 nets. Then go add them where ever they belong in the network. It's not the milliseconds it takes in a GUI, but it's also not hours. It doesn't take committee meetings - 'tho your company's change management may vary. (for the record, that's not a single click in ACI, either.) (The most involved networking task I've done in my career is migrating the company from igrp to eigrp. That is NOT something I would trust to any management GUI. I know how that ends... waking up people all over the place to power cycle things, or worse, get on a plane to DC.)
This guy is a genius.....also a good teacher 🙌🏻✨
Thanks for a great introductory video about SAN. I bought 2 fibre channel cards by mistake and now trying to find a use for them on my home network.......grin
thank you very much for this explanation
Thank you mr. Storage
Wow.. hier sollte es auch Knast geben für sowas ist j wahnsinnig
Excellent explanation
Thank You 👍
very nice that means server1 can not talk to server2 while both are under same EPG,BD and Subnet. correct ?
Its May 2022, this is the Best video so far to understand basics of SAN
Wowwww 😍😍😍This is how an explanation should be ..
Very good introduction talk actually, wondering why no many likes on file.
it's such a great explanation please can you recommend to me the name of the software that you have used.
Thank you!
I needed this explanation, and I thank you so much for sharing it. It's taken me several weeks to get my head wrapped around the subtleties of UCS/storage/MDS/zoning/wwpn/target/initiator/masking/device-alias configs and this put it in perspective for me. THANK YOU!
Simply Amazing. Even a layman can understand SDN after watching this.
Good video
appropriate! so can you tell me what software tools you have used for designing
Thanks a lot
Do you have a course for UCS central available?
💙
I don't understand why those damn asses dislike this, seriously?
I was literally about to write that. How did they not like the material in this video?
Excellent!
Thanks a lot for the awsome explaination
I really love this video uwu
Thanks You, Great Understandable explanation.....
the whole point of SDN was to use open standards like openflow in order to minimize costs. if you buy cisco ACI you are locked in cisco
Exactly. Disaggregation is where it's at.
thank you John for clear explanation!
Best explanation and intro into ACI! Thank you!!!! Although, sounds like us "Route/Switch" guys' days are numbered.
You are soooo correct. Our next evolution is Cloud Architecture and some sort of scripting language such as Python. Any Route/Switch engineer that fails to do so, will have a hard time getting employed in 5 years.
@@darrelstrickland6623 Thanks for the info, Darrel! I might just get out of this game before then, haha :-)
@@TheLithGH Nah don't do that. The game is fun. We get to go to work and play with toys. A Cloud Architect is like playing video games. Bruh we get paid to have funnnnnn lol!!!
Hey Mr John very helpful video. Thank you so much.
John is one of the best instructors in the world. I have watch few of his videos and I simply love how he teaches
So, essentially, you need manual static IP config for all devices and manually create your routing tables / firewall on the switches from scratch. Holy crap what a nightmare. I take it these switches are not auto-sensing, lol. Question - you didnt mention ipv4 or ipv6 networks. Do tcp/ip networks not apply in SANs? Is this outside the realm of the OSI model? What scenarios would make a coverged network adapter a better solution than a network adapter / hba pair? I’m subscribing. You have a new student :)
I’m in GEEK HEAVEN. This is what they left out of the Comptia A+/N+/Sec+. Linux skip it and Server+ covers it vaguely. Thank you for explaining this the WAY you did...
The best explanation i have ever seen. thank you.
Really Perfect!
Nice
Wonderfull !! its the best explanation............... Just awesome History till last new
such an amazing presentation man, I love it
John, Thank you so much, I really appreciate the way you taught this lesson.
Great explanation. Very clear.
very good presentation
is on MDS no need setup vlan ? please reply
is mds are SAN switch?
what ia mds
Thank you
Thank u John
