    One thing I seem to be seeing here is this. The LESS electricity you try to use to save money on your bill, the higher rate you pay per kWh. Your rate actually decreases if you use MORE electricity. Now, that does not make any sense to me given that the earth is not a bottom pit of energy.

    This company is terrible. Customer service is like each morning they go find day laborers to sit behind the phones. One CSR had parakeets so close to the phone I couldn’t hear what they were saying. If you want to set up global call centers at least train the employees in service and etiquette!

    This is amazing. Please do one with the credit. I found a plan with 100.00 credit for over 1000kwh. We definitely do that each month. And price is 16 cents kWh. How to calculate it. Still seems like a good plan even at 16 cents with the 100.00 credit. Please advise! Thank you!

    I am one of those people who thought the 9.5 kWh rate is what I would pay for every kWh used. No one has ever explained this to me. I still feel slightly confused, but I have a much better overall understanding of it now. Question: Why should those two "base rates" be different from one company to the next? I had two stunning bills recently. One for $268, so I lowered my thermostat from 74 F to 59 F for the next month and STLL had the next bill come in at $221. I was appalled. I was uncomfortably cold day and night for that second month, and all I saved was $45. Turned out I actually paid more per kWh at 59 F than I did at 74 F. I still cannot wrap my head around it. One thing is certain, my bill with all electric is now almost 3X as much as my combined bills for gas and electric used to be, and I cannot afford an electric bill anywhere near these amounts. A friend told me one factor affecting my bill is that the cost to operate an electric furnace is much higher than the cost to operate a gas furnace. I do not see why that should be so, either.

    So really all I need to know is (energy/kWh) + (delivery/kwr) x KWH That I use and bam that’s roughly my bill minus the fixed charges like base and the other delivery charge ?

  • @bryangreen5602
    @bryangreen5602 11 месяцев назад

    I believe you are wrong. I believe that no matter the plan they charge you a certain rate for the first 1000, then a different rate for next 1000 and then a different rate for over 2 and they are all added together to get your average rate.

    • @sbean2987

    Can't we just look at the kwh the company charges since that is their fixed rate? Wouldn't that ultimately be the lowest price regardless of usage?

    • @JoinAmbitiousEnergy
      @JoinAmbitiousEnergy Год назад

      No because those averages include an assumed kwh used. The calculation changes based on the kwh used. A small apartment is not the same as a large house, for example. Did you watch the entire video?

    This was very helpful. If you see a low energy rate, is that the rate we should really pay attention to instead of the average rates? Also, what are your thoughts on 36 month plans?

    • @JoinAmbitiousEnergy
      @JoinAmbitiousEnergy Год назад

      You really should calculate all the rates like in this video. Every plan has an Electric Facts Label (EFL) so you can review ALL the fees and details. It's hard to predict what rates will be in 2-3 years. Rates for everyone have increased since 2020.
