Mask 1985 Ending Song by Bob Seger
Mask is a 1985 is an American biographical drama tv film directed by Peter Bogdanovich, starring Cher, Sam Elliott, and Eric Stoltz with supporting roles done by Dennis Burkley, Laura Dern, Estelle Getty, and Richard Dysart. Cher received the 1985 Cannes Film Festival award for Best Actress.[2] The film is based on the life and early death of Roy L. "Rocky" Dennis, a boy who suffered from craniodiaphyseal dysplasia, an extremely rare disorder known commonly as lionitis due to the disfiguring cranial enlargements that it causes. My all time favorite movie from my childhood
This doesnt sound like Seger anyway
It wasnt Bruces decision, it was Coliumbia records...
The boss rules Bruce Bruce Bruce !!!!
Wasn't the Grateful Dead's Ripple the last song when looking away from the cemetery?
I love this movie..no matter how many times I watch it brings tears to my eyes..🥹
5:15 What a dumb looking hair color!
I think Eric Stoltz was phenomenal as Rocky! Really connected with him in this movie!
Everybody in this movie was top notch. Eric Stoltz, Cher and Sam Elliot. I watched this in the theatre's when I was 5yrs old and it made me cry and still tears me up when I watch it. This movie was a pure cinematic masterpiece!
Bob Seger's music is more appropriate and fits into the movie Mask better than Bruce Springsteen's ever could.
Terrific and beyond brilliantly done!!!! Wonderful acting by all!!!!!!
I was 11 when this movie came out, I LOVE this story / Movie about Rocky Dennis he was Brilliant, love his story if it's authentic love Bob seagar, but watching the credits of this clip I as a Now a 47 year old man I hate How in the Credits the actor eric stolze is In caps over the person he was portraying, but the actual person ROCKY DENNIS his name was in small print for his life story, how disrespectful, not tryna be a downer cause I love Rocky's Story & life timeless classic god Bless🌹♥️🙏💪🇺🇸💯
Love this song !
The real Rockey Dennis didn't know who Bob Segar was.... Lol. He liked Bruse Springsteen
I actually liked Shaun Cassidy
One of my favorite movies of all time
The theatrical cut is better.
Cher is such a fantastic person The movie was amazing I remember watching it as a teenager
@andrion waser I am not an animal. I am a human being.
It needs more cowbell and plastic surgery wouldn't hurt
I had plastic so I could look like my spirit animal the lion
A wonderful movie.I love Bob Seger perfect combination
Like a rock would have been a better song
Great song you always loved not forgotten
I never thought so before or after but in this movie cheer was so beautiful!!!!
I liked the Suunny and Cheer Show also.
Great movie. sad ending.
This movie is creepy
Bob Segar is way better than Bruce Springsteen
Yeah they changed some of the songs, Springsteen was the kids favourite but he wouldn't release the rights for a little indi film., Bob Seger, the legend he is said go for it.
I couldn't agree with you more. Bruce is pure trash compared to Bob!
Agreed
Wholeheartedly Agree 💯
Springsteen is garbage. Never liked him.
I just bought the directors cut version of Mask and was completely disappointed. They eliminated all Bob Seger songs and replaced it with Bruce Springsteen who also is great but it doesn't have the same biker/rebellious feel of that life. The worse part is when they played Born in the U.S.A. in the graveyard scene IMO
Thank you i love bruce springton but bob Seger song was amazing I love mask ive seen it many times and love it
I agree that was so stupid, the original had no music.
The real Rocky was a Springsteen fan.
They also replaced the Honda Goldwing riding club we hung with, with these outlaw types
Cher was so sizzling hot in this movie
Bruce said no, not enough money, Bob said yes. Bob rules. Roll Me Away is still the best rock song for any of us that were fishing through life, trying to grt it right.
I never hear this story. Could you explain please? Thanks.
@@ivanocozzoli7943 Bruce Springsteen was Rocky Dennis's favorite musician. He wanted too much money for the producer to use Born to Run. So they used Bob Segar's Roll Me Away. Years later the movie was reissued with Born to Run.
That's not what happened. Peter Bogdanovich, the film's director, told the real story many times. Springsteen was on board with the project and had OKd the use of the songs from day one. During post-production, the studio took the film away from Bogdanovich, cut some scenes to bring down running time, and used Seger's songs.
@@victorbruno271 Yes I heard it was the studio. The Bruce version is out and great but the Bob version is in the films DNA.Especially Roll Me Away. What is this weird version anyway.
Bob version is better.
NOT Bon Seger
Every ride is a Rocky Dennis Day! Love this, wish he was still with us bit he's in my heart. When I ride his spirit rides where he couldn't go. That's forever my plan. Every bicycle mile its right.....ride with class please. Thank everyone who lets me salute 3 flags. I dont want to make sense it's not everyones gig. Love......GREMLIN
Every day is a Rocky Dennis day for me also
This is Horrible!!! Just horrible!! 🤦🏻♂️ uh!
Because it isn't Bob Seger
@@kellycraig-slogar6676 no because the movie sucked
I Bet Rocky/Roy Is Watching This Movie In Heaven Bless His Heart♥️♥️
Bless my heart? In the South that's an insult
I'm still alive. My mom and her loser boyfriend faked my death to collect insurance money
“Next time... next time we’ll get it right... Roll me away...”
Great Song Great Movie - Great story
I think its great that Cher is bringing "awareness" to the children who suffer from these facial deformities. I cried listening to her testimony.
Yeah me too im glad that she is making a difference to it
I love this movie I am a huge Bob Sager fan.
Me too i have his songs love them and i love this song
Yeah, America's Funniest Home Videos was awesome
Bob Seger song...NOT Bob singing it
It might be, but it's not the studio version. This version isn't what was used in the movie.
It is a tribute band called Detroit Rock Hitters
I thought it sounded different.
Rocky Dennis movie a good film in the 80's and Cher was amazing in this film as Rocky's mom.
Yeah it is i love bob Seger because of the film and rocky rip ive learned about not judging people for the way they look cause of him and the hunchback of norte dame and wonder
Yes, a big, BIG mistake cutting the original songs heard in the film on the DVD...the ending song "Roll Me Away" was perfect to end the film...
the original soundtrack was supposed to be Springsteen, Rocky's favorite performer, but they didn't have the rights or permission to use his music until years later when the director's cut was released with Springsteen's music on it. it also had the deleted scenes added to the film as well
@@brian_keith The Springsteen songs didn't suit the flow of the film, like Seagers.
No one is a bigger Springsteen fan than me and even knowing that he was also Rocky's favorite, I still feel that Seger's "Roll Me Away" is the perfect song for the end of Mask. This song has a power and a culmination that just fits so right. Finally feelin' free!
Yeah ok I thought i was dreaming when i heard Bruce instead of Bob on dvd of this last night.
Do you have clips of any of the other Seger songs in Mask? I need it for a research project! Or just the names of what songs play over what...
I recreated this from the Mask dvd. Unfortunately no I don't have the original tv version. That was the purpose of this upload. I really wish I would have recommended this back in the days it was filmed on public tv. I certainly recorded everything else though. Maybe I'll upload those segments later if I don't get slammed for copyright. Thanks.
Opening song was Katmandu. I was confused to hear Bruce on the Directors cut. Both soundtracks -songs-can be found on the internet
mentalthoughts, I appreciate your work here and that ending was an epic moment in the movie with Roll Me Away being the absolute perfect song. With that said I am not sure where this all started however the song on this video and several others is Roll Me Away, Bob Seger cover Detroit Rock Hitters.they ate a Bob Seger cover band and It is hidden as Bob Seger Greatest hits album (Detroit Rock Hitters} tribute band I wonder how many purchased this album on a shady site somewhere thinking they were getting Bob Seger Greatest hits album. I administer fan site and have contact with a member or two, I am going to send them the link to their album to make sure they are aware..I think I made a harsh comment before however I knew I was correct just did not have proof, so sorry for that....As a die hard Seger fan for 40 years I have to bite my tongue when I read the comments from newer fans,, So not you are aware, would be top drawer if you were able to put the actual Seger song with this video, you would be the only one... Stay Cool, Sorry for the novel, just felt bad for a previous remak which I deleted...Lorraine........ruclips.net/video/bFb_vvgv0Ik/видео.html
That would be awesome if you have the original
💖💖💖@@mentalthoughts5273
This song is not on the mask soundtrack why ?
I think because of copyrights to the original soundtrack.
I know it was on the vhs film version but then they added bruce springsteen songs to the dvd version that i remember
Rocky Dennis actually was a huge Bruce Springsteen fan, when the movie originally came out, they could not get the rights to Springsteens music, which is why the soundtrack on the VHS is all Bob Segar tunes. When the director was asked to do a directors cut of the film for DVD he reached out to Springsteen and finally got the rights to the tracks he originally wanted for the picture. Personally I love both versions for sentimental and factual reasons, seeing the picture with Springsteens tracks gives it more of a organic real feel, but as a kid watching the VHS too many times to count the Segar tracks pull on my heart strings. Overall just love the picture and show to as many people I can, it's an important film for all generations.
It was because of this great movie i discovered seger thanks cher
batman66ism me too
Director's Cut had no Seger. Almost all Springsteen. Let down -- Seger is 5x the songwriter.
@@ringo666 I discovered Seger on a bootleg copy of the movie which was converted from VHS to dvd. That's the copy with Seger before the director's cut. If you watch the movie again with the commentary you would the director himself say why he used Seger at the time.
