stalking the postie 😆
looked at property in scotland in the past fell in love with one part of the highlands, now this location i would love to rebuild the demolished restore remaining but modernized..looks close to a big hill i'd like that with a huge bunker complex built into it,bunkers under the homes if possible.i want a commune and this area remote but not totally with what i see maybe around 20 homes occupied nearby to intergrate with.i 've big ideas just need alot of millions to get it rolling.
all demolished? google maps still showing some.
see this place mentioned on yahoo "last resident passed away" lease of area may be up for grabs soon? area looks amazing wish i had the good health & wealth to own that plot & some ajoining woodland & freedom to redevelope for my own dreams of a mini commune, afew neighbours quite away to town etc from looking on maps.the history behind these huts interested me ww2 pow's,borstal...i'd liked to kept & had restored through in some razor wire & guard towers. off to part2 good stuff.
A lovely little place. I know it well.

This looked so atmospheric Julia :) ~ Anna 👍
Julia diolch yn fawr . It was wonderful to see this slate mine at Aberllefenni, I guess this is the one that three generations of your family worked at ? It definitely would have been so hard for them, we heard stories from Dinorwig near us here in North Wales and it was va very hard life. Thanks for sharing and connecting. I've subscribed to you, hwyl! 👍 ~ Anna 🏴
Hi Julia this is fabulous to see the crown and sword of Owain Glyndwr , great man who wanted the best for us Welsh people. Nice to hear this man talk who owns the sword of state and is looking after the crown. Loved this and thanks for contacting us 👍 ~ Anna
My dad stayed in a youth hostel in the early 1940s in Upper Corris on a cycling holiday during the war. He fell down a railway embankment when his rear wheel went over the edge. He hobbled into a shop in Corris where Mrs Douglas really looked after him and patched him up. Dad's 94 and says he'll never forget Mrs Douglas.
Thanks for the comment. It was interesting and I shall add it to my history archive of the Corris area.

Would of been nice to see it close up either in the jar or out of the jar...
Hey 👋 I recently visited corris, on a weekend break with my family. We stayed at the Chapel (capel ebenezer) in ceinws. During our stay we made a trip to the corris craft centre and I remember seeing you pottering away in your garden which is beautiful by the way 😀 we were skipping down the steps and said hello to you. Since my visit I wanted to know some history on the area. I have been reading back over the history and every story I come across had your name under it. I can't believe how much history you have on the area and how far your family date back. I hope you don't mind me leaving this comment but when I come across your RUclips channel I remembered you and wanted to say thank you for allowing me to find some history on a beautiful magical village. I wish you all the best for your future and I think your an incredible lady ❤
Thanks for the lovely comments, they were the nicest that I have received. I am glad that you like Ceinws as I love living here in the little Welsh cottage ( Yr Efail ). I am pleased that you found my history useful. If I hadn't written it down, memories of the people and places would be gone forever. Thank you Natalie and stay safe. Julia.
@@juliagunn5259 Much love to you and your family. I do hope to visit the area in the near future so we may see each other again 😀 ❤ Thank you for your reply, you've made my day 😊 ❤
@@Taywoman You made my day too. Julia
When was the footage recorded out of interest?
This film was taken in March 2009. Thanks for watching. Julia
Great Video. I have The Big Emperor Moth now, with 15 cm wingspan. The Big Brother of Saturnia Pavonia...Grretings from Germany. From a Butterfly Fan--Andreas.
Glad you liked it, Julia from Wales.
Im not familiar with corris and surrounding area. How do you get here on foot, which path do i take?
Thanks for watching our film. Abercwmeiddaw quarry is on private land and the path up to it is not a public footpath, although it is well used by villagers for walking their dogs etc. If you travel on the main road A487 from Corris to Corris Uchaf and turn right before the first houses of Corris Uchaf, on to the short link road across the valley to the old C class road to the village. Turn right at the T junction and in a few yards you will see a small layby, passing place with a galvanized gate to a track leading up the mountain side. About a 100 metres up that track, turn left along the level path which takes you above the village and along to the quarry. It could be overgrown now as it was 12yrs ago when we went. Enjoy the views but don't get lost up there. Julia
I don't know what you mean !

Hi. My mother, my grandmother, great grandmother and great grandfather lived in the house 3 Idris Street in your video. They moved there from Aberllefenni in the early 1960s. The house was 2 houses made into 1. My mother moved to Yorkshire in the 70s but my grandmother and great grandmother lived in the house until 1998. We used to visit every year and my sister's and I spent a lot of time exploring Corris as kids... I still visit every so often and take my children.....Love the place 💕
Thanks for watching. Who were they? I might have known them.
@@juliagunn5259 Hi My great grandparents were Robert Jones died 1965 Annie Olwen Jones 1906 - 2008 my maternal grandmother was Llewela Jones 1931-1999 They all lived at 3 Idris Street and are laid to rest in the new cemetery in Corris My mother is Elizabeth Anne Jones born 1951. @@bowenjaybee I watched your film of Corris and saw the holiday cottage at Darowen. Many of my family are from there too. I do remember a Llewela Jones , my parents Kenneth and Moira Rowlands would have known her well. Yes Corris is a lovely place.
Cool
Thanks for watching, it is surprising how many people have visited Corris.
Cool
Great vid. Went there about thirty years ago. Lots of changes.l would like to see it again. Thanks.
Thanks for watching and hope you will be able to go there again.
Please, tell me the real-life events of Awdry’s stories trucks and you can’t win
I'm very sorry but I don't know. However, the Corris Railway Society have close links with the Awdry family and should be able to help you.
They should extend the line along the old bed, and also towards near the Talyllyn and Ffestiniog lines
very interesting cus x
Thanks. There are more quarry ones. Have you watched Donald Stewart George yet? Your mother is on it. Lots of love and keep safe. Julia x
Brilliant video Julia 👍
Thanks John, hope you will like my other quarry videos too. I would also like to say many thanks for everything you are doing for the elderly during this Corona Virus. Keep safe while exploring these quarries. Julia
Loving the quarry videos ive recently taken an interest in the various caves and quarry's around the area. I walked through the cave in the corner the other day it comes out just below the slate steps in the wall. got wet feet but loved it.
I'm glad you liked the video Gareth and thanks for letting me know that the cave comes out just below the steps. Keep safe and well. Julia
