J&J Eating Adventures
США
Добавлен 16 авг 2023
My son Jason and I (Jason) love food. We decided to chronicle our food adventures eating in and around the Houston, Texas area. Sometimes we will have guests like my wife and Jason's mom, Ivette, my parents, friends, or other family member. Thank you for coming along with us on this journey! God bless you!
Scotty's Saloon @JnJEatingAdventures
Scotty's Saloon sits in a small town in Booth, even though the address says Richmond. When the weather is nice, it's a good place to sit outside. They have a brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday. They also have live music sometimes. The food is hit and miss. The burger, the chicken tenders, and the BLT are great. The french fries, waffles, and pancakes were not so good. The service is attentive and friendly. This is a bar, so they do start a tab even if you are not drinking alcohol. No tap water either, Ozarka bottled water is $3 a bottle.

P. Terry's Burger Stand @JnJEatingAdventures
Просмотров 66219 часов назад
P. Terry's Burger Stand is a burger chain from Austin. We ate at their first Houston area location in Richmond. The menu is simple: burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, fries, milkshakes, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, banana bread, and homemade lemonade. The burgers are good and the fries are homemade. The milkshakes are good too. They are not worth a drive across town, but if you ar...
The Burger Barn @JnJEatingAdventures

We enjoy going to the Burger Barn in Rosenberg for consistently good burgers with fries or onion rings, crispy beef tacos, and wings. They have more on their menu but this is usually what we go for. I tried a grilled chicken sandwich once and it was really good. The prices are very reasonable too. They have TVs in the dining room to watch the local sporting events as well. We've seen the Astros...
Gold Tooth Tony's Detroit Pizza @JnJEatingAdventures
Просмотров 1 тыс.21 день назад
Gold Tooth Tony's makes great Detroit Pizza and some good garlic bread. We had the meat lovers pizza and with the garlic bread, it was enough for the both of us. The pizza is meaty and we were too full for dessert. It's a small place. There's only about four tables in the restaurant. It's primarily built for takeout, but we were able to wait for a table because a family was getting up and leavi...
Texas Tradition - Burgers and Steaks @JnJEatingAdventures

Texas Tradition in Katy has a great menu of burgers, chicken fried steak, shrimp, Tex-Mex, etc. The hamburger buns are homemade, burgers are hand formed, and the desserts are homemade. The wood interior and Texas decor is amazing. We really enjoyed it. www.katytexastradition.com/ Music: Happy Pop Country Village Rock Music By: Nicko Gloire from Pixabay #shrimp #fries #jnjeatingadventures
Best Burger & Chinese Food Restaurant @JnJEatingAdventures
Просмотров 727Месяц назад
Best Burger has been around since 1983. They chop, grind and form their patties with USDA Choice meats. The toppings are fresh and the beef is cooked on a flame broiler. We had bacon cheeseburgers. Jason had a double. The burger was good. We had no complaints. The fries were hot and seasoned crinkle fries. They serve Chinese food too so I ordered an egg roll. It was fresh, hot, and crispy. They...
The Frio - Hill Country Grill @JnJEatingAdventures
Просмотров 329Месяц назад
The Frio, in Cypress, is in a renovated stable that was built in 1907. They call themselves a hill country grill and the food does reflect that with a good variety of Texas style dishes. We had grilled shrimp tacos, carnitas enchiladas, beef quesadillas, a pulled pork sandwich with fries, and a buffalo chicken sandwich with onion rings. Everything was good, but the shrimp and side of rice weren...

Jason, Ivette, my parents, and I are at The Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood, about 37 minutes west of Austin. This is the original location dating back to 1967. The menu is simple, but the barbecue, sides, and desserts are very good. The service is great too. We had a great time. The have three other locations now, but Driftwood is the original location. saltlickbbq.com/driftwood/ Music: Country Mile...

Jason, Ivette,, my parents, and I went to the Topwater Grill in San Leon to celebrate my dad's birthday. Topwater Grill has a great atmosphere and it's right on the water. Boats can pull up right to it. It's very busy, but the food is hit and miss. Some dishes like the chicken, fried steak and french fries have a lack of seasoning. The shrimp scampi has a lack of seasoning and the sauce was bro...

Jason, Ivette, my parents and I went to Live Oak Grill in Sugar Land for some fried shrimp, onion rings, tacos, quesadillas, a cheeseburger and fries. The food is good for the most part and there is a great Texas Hill Country atmosphere. I loved the fried shrimp and onion rings. The shrimp were plump and had great flavor. The onion rings were big and had great flavor as well. Jason was disappoi...

Jason and I went to Joe's Oyster Bar and Grill in Rosenberg for their Saturday lunch burger special. It's only advertised on Facebook and we had to ask our server about it. For $8.95 you get a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. Great deal. It's a half pound burger that's grilled to order and they ask you how do you want it cooked. We got ours medium of course. I subbed onion rings for the fries ...
Papa Gyros @JnJEatingAdventures

Papa Gyros has been serving Greek-American food, a long with Chicago and Detroit specialties, in Katy for years. Jason, Ivette, and I stopped in for some traditional gyros and a Philly cheese steak on pita bread with fries. The beef and lamb gyros with tzatziki sauce hit the spot. Jason enjoyed his Philly cheese steak pita too. The fries are good too. We had a coconut cream pie and a Greek past...

We celebrated Ivette's birthday with my parents at Lopez Mexican Restaurant in Houston. They have good food, great service, a great atmosphere, and reasonable prices. I had carnitas, Jason had beef quesadillas, Ivette had pork chops rancheros, Mom had enchiladas verdes, and Dad had a chile relleno. We had sopapillas and flan for dessert. The staff come over to sing happy birthday for Ivette. We...
Jollibee Filipino Fried Chicken @JnJEatingAdventures
Просмотров 2 тыс.3 месяца назад
Filipino fried chicken is what they are known for, regular or spicy, along with chicken sandwiches, pasta, tenders, and burgers. Jason and I got a 6 piece bucket meal deal with french fries, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, and two drinks all for $20 at the Jollibee in Missouri City. The sides are nothing special, but the fried chicken is pretty good. The mango peach pie and pineapple quencher...
Texas Roadhouse @JnJEatingAdventures

If you love perfectly seasoned and cooked steaks with fluffy baked potatoes, soft buttery rolls, and flavorful side salads, Texas Roadhouse is the place to go. Jason, Ivette, my parents and I ate at the Texas Roadhouse in Rosenberg. These aren't prime steaks, but they are very satisfying for the price. Ivette and I had a ribeye cooked medium and Jason had a sirloin cooked medium rare. My mom op...

Im moving to Texas. $7.30 for a Burger combo? That's insane. Here in NC that would be at the lowest about $13
The burgers are reasonably priced. Thanks for watching!
Yummy! God bless!
Thank you for watching! God bless you too!
Jesus christ slobs my knob
I have been wanting to go there for a while thank you for your tour
Thank you for watching!
Did your dad enjoy getting sandwiched by sausage? He definitely looks like he would and ask for seconds!
I don't know where ""Katy" is, but the PINCHO franchise is very popular in the Miami (Florida) area. I have three locations very near my house to choose from. They are also in Broward County. Miami is in Miami-Dade County.
@@VILJL Katy, Texas. Just outside of Houston. Thanks for watching!
I enjoy Texas Roadhouse, but my local one is always packed. Got to go back some time.
@@hildahilpert5018 They usually are always busy. You can call ahead and get a place on the wait-list though.
My daughter took my grandson and said it was just mediocre, not bad, not great....
That's pretty much what we thought as well.
the hype made by foreign vloggers making videos for Filipinos who can rarely afford to eat in fast food is too much. So people can have really have high expectations. In the Philippines, the Mcdonalds chicken was better. But they seem to change the recipe and so Jollibee is on the same level or better. Jollibee is great. But it can be too expensive for the average Filipino.
@@eduardochavacano We don't know anything about that. We can only comment on the restaurants that we have access to and compare them to other food we have tried.
Looked really delicious. I wondered if the burger patties were cooked on a charbroiler or a flat top grill.
@@WilliamHilscher-v9v They are really good! I don't know for sure, but I think a charbroiler.
The patties are made fresh daily with 100% fresh ground beef. They have a 25/75 fat content and are cooked on a flat-top grill.
@@ahmerali31abbasi Good to know!
Their ribeyes are great and you absolutely can’t beat the price!
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 Absolutely!
Barb’s B Q is the new hotspot in Lockhart. The girl was a pitmaster at Franklins and Goldees, two of the best in the world.
Wow, we'll have to check it out one day.
They have great burgers. The wagyu cattle ranch you drive through to get there is theirs and it’s an RV Park....
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 They do have great burgers! Sometimes the best places are in unassuming areas. Nice to see where the food comes from.
A Katy Foodie group says their CFS is very good and recommends this place now that Clancy’s is closed!
The food is very good. It's all homemade. In our opinion, the Jay Cafe in Needville, has the best chicken fried steak.
I used to eat there in 2003 when I moved here. I would call from work and place a pickup order and get it at the window. Great burgers loved them. One day I decided to go inside and eat and when I walked through the front door the ammonia from mouse urine started stinging my eyes and I left and never went back. They closed for many years and just recently reopened. I guess that smell is gone or your son would have pointed it out along with a lack of seasoning.....😂
You are right, it used to be very dirty. It's been cleaned up, just an old building.
There are salt and pepper shakers on the table for a reason....cool it with the “it’s not seasoned”. Old people can’t have all that, season to your liking at the table!
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 Just a personal opinion. I went to culinary school and have worked in the restaurant industry for almost 30 years. I have always been taught that the food has to come out seasoned. Everyone has their own tastes and dietary needs and they need to make that known when ordering.
Witt Pitt is as good as Lockhart BBQ, no need to drive. The only thing better at Lockhart is the sausage.... Came here after watching your Schultzes BBQ video, they are mediocre at best and surprised they stay in business but I think they have been here so long they have a local following....
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 Schulze's was a disappointment. Witt Pitt is very good. We still like to drive to Smitty's in Lockhart. It's a nice drive and very historic. Not to mention great barbecue. It is nice to have great places close by though! We have a video on Smitty's if you want to check it out.
Where are you from? Those that know drive two minutes down the street to Witt Pitt, some of the best bbq in the state!
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 We live in Rosenberg. Yes we agree Witt Pitt is so much better! Some of the best we've had.
Great to get to see y'all 😊
I appreciate your descriptions! It really helps!! Now i just need you to come to South Jacksonville and taste everything 😅

A Happy New Year to you and yours! This place looks really neat and the food looks fancy.
Happy New Year to you as well! The food is great. They offer a wide variety of flavors.
The steak fries look like we Aussies wold call CHIPS but they look limp & sad. They should be crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. The salad looked sad too..... nothing crispy or fresh at all....no wonder it was drowned in ranch dressing,& even that needed a reboot.Honestly, you guys found that meal acceptable ? Even a pub over here could better that without a second thought.
The food is good overall. The salad was the worst part of the meal. Yes, the fries (chips) weren't crispy, but they had a good flavor. They were also cooked through. Maybe they should be called potato planks? Thank you for your input and thanks for watching!
@@JnJEatingAdventures In Aust that type of chip are called "wedges" & can sometimes end up looking like that if the server doesn't care.Nothing personal & I do say this with a smile but I'm glad you paid for it cos I wouldn't leave a tip.Oh,funny that......we don't have to tip....!
This meal looked good. We started making gyros at home just this Summer. We made chicken ones and they turned out great!
That's awesome! Sounds so good! Check out my new channel called Jason in the Kitchen on you tube. We may make gyros one day!
Back in my days volunteering at Theatre Suburbia (1980s and 90s) MytiBurger was our go-to on set construction weekends. They were average, in a good way, then and certainly fit our budget. Sounds like they are still that way now, years later. I'm going to get over there on a nostalgia run as soon as I can.
Nostalgia is important. It's been around for a long time. I would hate to see it close.
Sometimes the "hole-in-the-wall" eateries are like a hidden treasure. That's a unique place with a taste of Sci-Fi. The food looks so good! Those are some big onion rings.
Exactly. We try not to eat at too many chains. The food is great!
Where is this located? Is this in Austin?
This location is in midtown in Houston. They also have two locations in Austin.
I was just at the Congress location in Austin. We are transplanted NYers living in SATX and were in Austin for ACL. This one in Austin is as good as any NY pizza Ive had...San Antonio needs help on the pizza front. @@JnJEatingAdventures
