J&J Eating Adventures
США
Добавлен 16 авг 2023
My son Jason and I (Jason) love food. We decided to chronicle our food adventures eating in and around the Houston, Texas area. Sometimes we will have guests like my wife and Jason's mom, Ivette, my parents, friends, or other family member. Thank you for coming along with us on this journey! God bless you!
Portillo's @JnJEatingAdventures
Portillo's serves the Chicago staples: hot dogs, beef, burgers, salads, and their chocolate cake. We finally came in to try the Richmond location and were not disappointed. The food is good for the price. The Chicago beef is full of beef and they even offer a big beef sandwich. The burgers are good sized, beefy, and charbroiled. They use Vienna beef for their hot dogs too. The milk shakes are just average, nothing special. The chocolate cake is moist and not too sweet. We will definitely be back.

The Cookshack @JnJEatingAdventures
Просмотров 19719 часов назад
The Cookshack offers Nashville hot chicken and ribs in the form of tenders, sandwiches, and salads. They offer a variety of sides as well. Jason got the chicken and waffles with french fries and I had the 1/4 rack of ribs and the grilled tenders with coleslaw. We were very disappointed with the food quality, portion size, and the price. The google rating is somehow a 4.6. Maybe we came on a bad...

The Honor Cafe in Conroe is not only a great restaurant, but a tribute to our military. The food and service is great. The restaurant is like a museum with all of the armed forces memorabilia. Tornado Burger @JnJEatingAdventures
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.21 день назад
Tornado Burger has been around for years for a simple reason, good food at a good price. Nothing fancy, just freshly cooked food, fresh toppings, and homemade fries or onion strings. They also have cheese steaks, beef or chicken too. They offer a spicy burger patty with garlic, onion, and jalapeño in the patty. My only complaints are that they do not offer fresh brewed iced tea and they do not ...

We tried Parry's Pizzeria and Taphouse in Sugar Land. We had the I Love Meat pizza and the parm bites. The pizza is good. The dough and toppings are flavorful. The parm bites not so much. It's a nice place to watch a game. They also offer wings, sandwiches, wraps, salads, burgers, and calzones. parryspizza.com/locations/sugar-land/ Music: Classic Rock Solo Jam Epic Guitar Performance Music By: ...
9er's Grill @JnJEatingAdventures

9er's Grill is named after their 9 oz beef patties for their burgers. We ate here one night before we went Christmas lighting. They have more than burgers on the menu though. They serve breakfast, they have sandwiches, and plates. Anything from chicken fried steak to chicken tenders. Overall, the food is good and the prices are very reasonable. They offer daily features as well. They also have c...

Jason, Ivette, and I went to the Post Food Hall, in downtown Houston, one night to look at Christmas lights and to eat some dinner. We haven't been there in a while and they charge for parking now and it is expensive. We paid $15 to park. It's $20 to park in the garage. It was the starting price of $15 per person to go up on the roof and see the Christmas lights. We decided not to. We went into...
Lone Star Saloon @JnJEatingAdventures

We went to the Lone Star Saloon in downtown Richmond for dinner one night. Unfortunately they had a limited menu due to Miracle on Morton Street event going on that day. They still had the limited menu even though the event was cleaning up when we arrived. The only choices were burgers and tenders, besides some appetizers. The food is reasonably priced, but is just average. It is nothing specia...
Cantina Barba @JnJEatingAdventures
Просмотров 550Месяц назад
Cantina Barba is known for their cantina cheeseburger and on Tuesdays they are buy one get one free. Make sure to order a double because a single wouldn't be enough. The burger has homemade pickles and a burger sauce. The burger has a nice sear and the cheese is nicely melted. It's a good burger, but could be great with some salt. The fries are average and the elote is good with chipotle mayo, ...
Gugliani's - Italian Comfort Food @JnJEatingAdventures

Gugliani's is in the back of a shopping center next to Meyerland Plaza. It is a neighborhood Italian restaurant with a good looking menu. The pizza crust is homemade and the prices are very reasonable. Jason and I ordered a 20 inch meat lovers pizza and took half of it home for another meal. The complimentary breadsticks are amazing. Don't miss their homemade desserts either. Service is great a...

Scotty's Saloon sits in a small town in Booth, even though the address says Richmond. When the weather is nice, it's a good place to sit outside. They have a brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday. They also have live music sometimes. The food is hit and miss. The burger, the chicken tenders, and the BLT are great. The french fries, waffles, and pancakes were not so good. P. Terry's Burger Stand is a burger chain from Austin. We ate at their first Houston area location in Richmond. The menu is simple: burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, fries, milkshakes, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, banana bread, and homemade lemonade. The burgers are good and the fries are homemade. The milkshakes are good too. They are not worth a drive across town, but if you ar...
The Burger Barn @JnJEatingAdventures

We enjoy going to the Burger Barn in Rosenberg for consistently good burgers with fries or onion rings, crispy beef tacos, and wings. They have more on their menu but this is usually what we go for. I tried a grilled chicken sandwich once and it was really good. The prices are very reasonable too. They have TVs in the dining room to watch the local sporting events as well. Gold Tooth Tony's Detroit Pizza @JnJEatingAdventures
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.3 месяца назад
Gold Tooth Tony's makes great Detroit Pizza and some good garlic bread. We had the meat lovers pizza and with the garlic bread, it was enough for the both of us. The pizza is meaty and we were too full for dessert. It's a small place. There's only about four tables in the restaurant. It's primarily built for takeout, but we were able to wait for a table because a family was getting up and leavi...

Texas Tradition in Katy has a great menu of burgers, chicken fried steak, shrimp, Tex-Mex, etc. The hamburger buns are homemade, burgers are hand formed, and the desserts are homemade. Good food at a great price!
Tornado was one of our favorite lunch spots when I worked in SW Houston. They make an excellent spicy gyro too.
Nice! I'll have to try that.

Awesome! Do you have your bingo card?
That's a tough question to answer because it just really depends what I'm in the mood for. The Jay Cafe in Needville, Goodson's Cafe and Mel's Country Cafe are all good. For pizza, Grimaldi's is our favorite. For Barbecue there are a lot of good places, like Killen's, Truth, Corkscrew, Smitty's, The Witt Pit, etc. The birria tacos at La Cruderia in Houston and Tacos Doña Lena in Spring Branch are really good. The chicken romano and spaghetti and meatballs are amazing at Campioni in northwest Houston. This is probably more than you were asking for, but it just depends what I'm in the mood for. There are so many places that I still want to try. What are some of your favorites?
Which spot do you recommend for someone looking for the ultimate comfort food experience?
Thanks for watching! My answer is above.
Im moving to Texas. $7.30 for a Burger combo? That's insane. Here in NC that would be at the lowest about $13
The burgers are reasonably priced. Thanks for watching!
Yummy! God bless!

I have been wanting to go there for a while thank you for your tour
Thank you for watching!
Did your dad enjoy getting sandwiched by sausage? He definitely looks like he would and ask for seconds!
I don't know where ""Katy" is, but the PINCHO franchise is very popular in the Miami (Florida) area. I have three locations very near my house to choose from. They are also in Broward County. Miami is in Miami-Dade County.
@@VILJL Katy, Texas. Just outside of Houston. Thanks for watching!
I enjoy Texas Roadhouse, but my local one is always packed. Got to go back some time.
@@hildahilpert5018 They usually are always busy. You can call ahead and get a place on the wait-list though.
My daughter took my grandson and said it was just mediocre, not bad, not great....
That's pretty much what we thought as well.
the hype made by foreign vloggers making videos for Filipinos who can rarely afford to eat in fast food is too much. So people can have really have high expectations. In the Philippines, the Mcdonalds chicken was better. But they seem to change the recipe and so Jollibee is on the same level or better. Jollibee is great. But it can be too expensive for the average Filipino.
@@eduardochavacano We don't know anything about that. We can only comment on the restaurants that we have access to and compare them to other food we have tried.
Looked really delicious. I wondered if the burger patties were cooked on a charbroiler or a flat top grill.
@@WilliamHilscher-v9v They are really good! I don't know for sure, but I think a charbroiler.
The patties are made fresh daily with 100% fresh ground beef. They have a 25/75 fat content and are cooked on a flat-top grill.
@@ahmerali31abbasi Good to know!
Their ribeyes are great and you absolutely can’t beat the price!
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 Absolutely!
Barb’s B Q is the new hotspot in Lockhart. The girl was a pitmaster at Franklins and Goldees, two of the best in the world.
Wow, we'll have to check it out one day.
They have great burgers. The wagyu cattle ranch you drive through to get there is theirs and it’s an RV Park....
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 They do have great burgers! Sometimes the best places are in unassuming areas. Nice to see where the food comes from.
A Katy Foodie group says their CFS is very good and recommends this place now that Clancy’s is closed!
The food is very good. It's all homemade. In our opinion, the Jay Cafe in Needville, has the best chicken fried steak.
I used to eat there in 2003 when I moved here. I would call from work and place a pickup order and get it at the window. Great burgers loved them. One day I decided to go inside and eat and when I walked through the front door the ammonia from mouse urine started stinging my eyes and I left and never went back. They closed for many years and just recently reopened. I guess that smell is gone or your son would have pointed it out along with a lack of seasoning.....😂
You are right, it used to be very dirty. It's been cleaned up, just an old building.
There are salt and pepper shakers on the table for a reason....cool it with the “it’s not seasoned”. Old people can’t have all that, season to your liking at the table!
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 Just a personal opinion. I went to culinary school and have worked in the restaurant industry for almost 30 years. I have always been taught that the food has to come out seasoned. Everyone has their own tastes and dietary needs and they need to make that known when ordering.
Witt Pitt is as good as Lockhart BBQ, no need to drive. The only thing better at Lockhart is the sausage.... Came here after watching your Schultzes BBQ video, they are mediocre at best and surprised they stay in business but I think they have been here so long they have a local following....
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 Schulze's was a disappointment. Witt Pitt is very good. We still like to drive to Smitty's in Lockhart. It's a nice drive and very historic. Not to mention great barbecue. It is nice to have great places close by though! We have a video on Smitty's if you want to check it out.
Where are you from? Those that know drive two minutes down the street to Witt Pitt, some of the best bbq in the state!
@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 We live in Rosenberg. Yes we agree Witt Pitt is so much better! Some of the best we've had.
Great to get to see y'all 😊

A Happy New Year to you and yours! This place looks really neat and the food looks fancy.
Happy New Year to you as well! The food is great. They offer a wide variety of flavors.
The steak fries look like we Aussies wold call CHIPS but they look limp & sad. They should be crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. The salad looked sad too..... nothing crispy or fresh at all....no wonder it was drowned in ranch dressing,& even that needed a reboot.Honestly, you guys found that meal acceptable ? Even a pub over here could better that without a second thought.
The food is good overall. The salad was the worst part of the meal. Yes, the fries (chips) weren't crispy, but they had a good flavor. They were also cooked through. Maybe they should be called potato planks? Thank you for your input and thanks for watching!
@@JnJEatingAdventures In Aust that type of chip are called "wedges" & can sometimes end up looking like that if the server doesn't care.Nothing personal & I do say this with a smile but I'm glad you paid for it cos I wouldn't leave a tip.Oh,funny that......we don't have to tip....!
This meal looked good. We started making gyros at home just this Summer. We made chicken ones and they turned out great!
That's awesome! Sounds so good! Check out my new channel called Jason in the Kitchen on you tube. We may make gyros one day!
Back in my days volunteering at Theatre Suburbia (1980s and 90s) MytiBurger was our go-to on set construction weekends. They were average, in a good way, then and certainly fit our budget. Sounds like they are still that way now, years later. I'm going to get over there on a nostalgia run as soon as I can.
Nostalgia is important. It's been around for a long time. I would hate to see it close.
Sometimes the "hole-in-the-wall" eateries are like a hidden treasure. That's a unique place with a taste of Sci-Fi. The food looks so good! Those are some big onion rings.
Exactly. We try not to eat at too many chains. The food is great!
Where is this located? Is this in Austin?
This location is in midtown in Houston. They also have two locations in Austin.
