Because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, we have learned that Carol of the Bells is from Ukraine. It has quickly become a favorite of many here in the US. Well done!!!

Shchedryk is an old Ukrainian folksong, but this version was first sung by a choir that traveled the world to gather support from when Russia invaded Ukraine to occupy it after WWI. It had the intention to inform the world that Ukraine was an independent nation with its own culture and identity and they weren't Russians, which was the reason the communists gave for invading Ukraine.

Wonderfully done. This performance was referenced in Timothy Snyder's "history of Ukraine" class, which he so generously (or maybe it wwas Yale) made accessible online.
