How to Cross Stitch on Crochet - The BEST Way
This video will show you the BEST way to cross stitch on to a crochet piece!

How to Crochet a Linked Triple Double Crochet Cluster - Quick and Easy - Stitch Tutorial
Music repetitive and mildly annoying. Turn up voice volume.
I do something similar to this only I crochet the basket to the height I want it then do 1 round of Back loop only stitches then continue crocheting until I get to like 2 or 3 rows less than twice the height then put the canvas in and fold down at the back loop row to the inside of the basket to cover the canvas that way nothing gets caught in the canvas when you put things inside the basket
I'm a left-handed crocheter. Do you have a video of this for lefties?
Haven’t you compared it to premiers Cotton sprout yarn?
@@zulrod1229 I have not personally used a lot of premier yarns though I've heard good things 🙂
I have never used graph before. Do I understand correctly that basically to do row 2 I crochet left handed (left to right) or do do you rotare your work so essentially making the the top the bottom ?
@@tracyhealy3689 I have a video on graph reading here, hopefully it's helpful ruclips.net/video/6L2g7MX91Cg/видео.htmlsi=dFAKKvzelEhaIr5I But basically you are working back and forth from the bottom of the graph to the top. Row 2 could be worked with your off hand if you are able to do that. I think most people turn the work and just make sure any carried colors stay on the wrong side of the piece. Hope this is helpful! ❤️
You go off screen. Can't see what you're doing.
This is awesome TYSM!!
I'm so glad it helped!
Thanks for sharing. Its realy beautiful and easy.
I'm glad it was helpful! I love the clones knot 🙂
O wow!!! Thank you so much for sharing this i ❤ it!!! Thank you again 😊
So glad it was helpful!!
Great idea!
this is the only video that explained it so perfectly for me! I was so afraid of graphs before this and would always avoid them! thank you xx
Sorry I'm just seeing this message, I'm so glad it helped!!
Thank you so much for your tips, much appreciated. 😊
No problem! I'm glad I could be helpful!
Thank you for helping read a graph
Oh no problem, I'm so glad I could help 😃
I was waiting for a review on the Twist☹️
What would you like to know? I'm happy to help if I can. As far as working with it, it feels the same as working with the other dishe yarns.
Ok thank you!
@@pheeinpa52 no problem at all!
Very helpful and I haveUsed it before a d really liked it. Very nice yarn❤
I'm glad it was helpful, it is really a great cotton yarn especially for the price!
Do you have this instructions written
What stitch used to make a block and how many stitched
I'm sorry Mary, I'm just now seeing your question. So technically each square can be any stitch, friends on what you're doing and maybe on the pattern your using. But in most cases I've seen, single crochet is normally used, one stitch per square.
I cannot thank you enough for this video!! I’ve had a pattern for over a year that I could not figure out how to do it. Thanks to you I’m on my way and I love it!! When I’m finished I will post you a pic. Again, thank you!!!❤
I'm just now seeing this comment I'm so sorry!! I hope that it went swimmingly and I'm glad I could help☺️
Completely agree! After discovering Dishie, I gave away all of my Sugar ‘n Cream. Dishie is just lovely to work with 💜
It's my favorite of these types of cotton by far! Apologies, just seeing this comment
very neat, thank you
I would love to have the pattern to your basket
The full set says "I ❤️ Balls" and can be found here www.classyladyyarnworks.com/premium-patterns/crocheter-series/easy-crochet-basket-pattern-set/ :)
When you start the graph for SC and add the chains...do you add one extra for the turning chain? Do you also chain one every row?
Hey Joyce! So it depends on the pattern, for mine I will put in the notes section if the turning chain counts as a stitch, as do most designers I believe. As for the starting chain, usually the turning chain is accounted for in the pattern and the notes will clarify which ch to begin in. If you are creating your own thing, it's entirely preference on the turning chains. The easiest thing to do is to not count the turning ch as a stitch. Hope that helps!
I love this 😁
Will this work with much larger baskets?
I'm so sorry, I'm just now seeing this comment 😬 It should work pretty well with any basket, you just may need to attach multiple panels, in which case I would overlap the panels by a few columns and stitch them together that way, as opposed to stitching them together end to end. This probably isn't helpful at this point, but I didn't want to not answer once I realized I'd missed the comment 😕
Would this method be good for a hat?
It certainly could be, I would just recommend making sure to trap (crochet around) the yarn you are carrying along the wrong side every few stitches so that you don't end up with any really long strands to be snagged when in use. Does that make sense?
Do you just do single crochet in each stitch or half double crochet?
You could definitely do a half double. I just used a single here for simplicity. You can use any of the basic stitches really, depending on the effect you want. Single is just generally the most commonly used in colorwork.
Right handed. This was very helpful, thank you!!
I'm so glad it was helpful! Are you working on a graph pattern?
whats up?
Oooooh... Not much how about you?
Another great stitch ! Thank you !
Glad you like it and glad I could help!
Just a beautiful stitch pattern! I’m looking forward to trying it It looks like antique lace! Very vintage - like the crochet/lace trim you put on the bottom of the wall hanging piece - quite lovely My eyes popped, lol, definitely got my attention Thank you most kindly for sharing ❤️🌹🌈🥰
Thanks so much for the kind words! I have a lot of fun playing with stitch patterns and texture. Especially in juxtaposition to my designs LOL. I appreciate all the styles and things that crochet has to offer :)
Stephanie, I just wanted to say that where I've done counted cross stitching for several years of my life; that the way that you're doing it yes it is the easy way. But in order to do it the correct way you should have all of your stitches going in one direction then have them go back towards where you started in the opposite direction. By doing it this way it will fill in the project better and it will be a lot easier to work the thread or yarn. It will also look neater as well. Also, if you hold the thread or in this case yarn tail across the row that you're working on you won't have to weave it in at the end and it will be blended into the work. By doing what I suggested will make the stitching go so much faster for anyone who has never done cross stitching before. I just thought that I would give out some helpful advise for everyone. You can stitch through 2 holes at 1 time vs just doing 1 hole at a time. But make sure that you do this to form an " X " . So start with going in 1 direction like " \ " then come back down the row doing " / " . I hope this helps everyone. And btw Stephanie you did a fantastic job on this!
I appreciate the feedback and the suggestions for others very much! When I said in the video I didn't normally stitch like this that's what I meant lol. I normally go all the way through a color section one way and then back. But I didn't consider that might throw someone off who is new to cross stitch. Perhaps I'll find a video to link people to for proper cross stitching technique... Thank you!

I am so glad that I found your video tutorial. I have several written text patterns with arrows beside the numbered rows.i am right handed.do I just ignore the arrows and read the sentences like I would read a book?
So long as you are turning then yes it should just read like a book. The arrows should just indicate which direction you are moving as it relates to the graph. But the directions themselves should read like a book. If you want to be sure just check the counts against the actual graph if you can :) And I'm glad you found the video too and hope it was helpful!
Thanks for this review! The comparison to Sugar n cream, the sample... it was great, thanks!
Awesome I'm glad it was helpful!!
This is going to be handy. Thank you!
I'm so glad and you are most welcome!
I’ve never made one. Going to now for sure. Thank you.
A bit like a Pom Pom
Definitely a bit like a pom pom :) And have fun! :)
I would have just had knots everywhere 😂
Oh no... I'm so glad you are allowing that fate lol
Thanks 😁👍
Happy to help! 😁
Thanks for explaining for us southpaws!
Absolutely! I'm trying to make it a point to start addressing this more regularly as I realize it doesn't get a lot of mention <3
Thank you for the tutorial. I would think a market bag of sorts would be great for this stitch or even a vest/sweater.
Market bag would be amazing!! And I can imagine a sweater or vest too, such a versatile stitch!
You just upped my tassel game, thank you!
I'm so glad it was helpful! :)
I love these ideas ! I will certainly be trying them - on the surface I like the wip stitch better
Glad you liked it! The whip is definitely my favorite too 😍
Please turn off the background music. It interferes with hearing you and concentrating on what you are demonstrating. I like both methods and will try them soon. I have some plastic canvas and circle pieces that could fit in the bottom of small baskets. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback!
I agree.
Or turn down background music , but keep it. And the voice is easier to hear. Love ❤️ these great baskets. You did a wonderful job! Thank you so much for sharing 😊
This is a great idea! I actually have a few sheets of this canvas a d never knew what I was going to use it for. I think this would be great for making flower pots!
When I learned about it I thought it was pretty brilliant! Totally could be great for making flower pots :)
Nicely done! I like the whip stitch method. I’ll be trying this soon. Thank you!
Thanks Julie :)
Great idea! Is the basket machine washable with the plastic liner?
You know I hadn't considered that but honestly I can't see why not. I would say perhaps don't wash it on hot and maybe wash it by itself or with a very small load.
This is a fantastic idea and tutorial. I would never have thought of this and I have been thinking of ways to make my baskets more stable! I have tried making a couple for hooks and sewing things and they are not too sturdy after I add lots of stuff! Thank you for this tutorial! I love this! and you are pretty awesome too!
Thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you found it helpful! I learned about this from another crafter and thought it was pure genius and just knew I needed to share it when I started designing my own baskets!!
Great idea thanks 😊.
Happy to share! 😀
Geez Screechy not screech
Can I just tell you how pleasant your voice is? It's smooth, well modulated, not fukkin screech, and you Laugh! You don't giggle and make mouth noises! THANK YOU! Oh....the basket idea is cool too!😃🌼😷
Bahaha, I have never heard any of those things and appreciate you :) I just try to talk like I normally talk /shrug. And glad the basket idea is useful :D
I loved linked stitches
Aren't they wonderful?!?!
