I know what you’re saying. It’s possible to set a click to different tempos through the song on the tempo drop down menu. So you could theoretically map the tempo and it would quantize that way. Although, if playing “live” without a click that could make it sound weird and also lose some of the magic.

I leave it set pretty low and on all the time (for the most part) and it could be the unit I got. But mine does pop yea.

This also helps keep your session clutter free if you need something specific for only one section of your tune. One track instead of 2-3

It definitely has come a long way and things are much easier. Using loops is a solid choice, many people do. I’ve been a drummer since I was young so that’s why I always play. Just keep making music and having fun!

@@floodwaterstudios I've used 3 for a song i'm working on and getting them all in time was a nightmare. All were tweaked manually until they were in time.

Those types of settings presonus doesn’t really make known. I’ve tried to find other stuff for the fat channel also but to no avail. I will say channel strip does seem less responsive compared to other compressors though. Still a great option, just less initial response

If you’re merging midi events you can “dissolve” the part and it will break it back into section. If you’re merging audio events unfortunately there isn’t a single click way to dissolve that. You would need to use the splitter tool and chop it back up manually.

On top of that, it makes the scratch pad practically useless because you can do any combination directly in the arranger view.

I address this also. I use quantize to tighten up and then manually address problematic areas such as fills. Pitch can cause issues especially in overheads for sure. But I’ve noticed usually that’s only if the quantizing has gone wrong somewhere. Work smarter. Not hard. Efficiency in the studio is key.

Fat channel is just the plugin name. It adds 5 plugins to your channel at once instead of 5 different plugins being needed. You get a high pass filter, gate, compression, eq, and limiter. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Welcome!

The knob on top is a trim/gain knob. That affects the signal going into the fade. I like to get things up to volume using the gain knob then fine tune with the fader. Drastic moves on faders can cause lower resolution audio

@@floodwaterstudios thank you for the response. Is this only good for playback or can it be used for monitoring? i.e if my guitar sounds too quiet, can I increase the trim to hear it more clearly before recording?

The trim knob can be useful in setting level for recording but keep in mind it will record at that level. Meaning if it’s too hot you could run into clipping. Just keep an eye on it and if all else fails turn up your speakers to hear better. Recording at conservative levels will give more headroom and less headache during mixing.

@@floodwaterstudios I see, that's one issue I am encountering with studio one. My monitoring does not feel loud enough for my guitar, the volume is at max on my scarlet interface and my input is at around -10Db. When I record, the playback is much louder than the monitoring .....why could that be? How can I get the recorded levels and the monitor level to be the same?

@@floodwaterstudios Ah, the algorithm just brough the video to my feed today. (Not that it matters but,) What about compressing (death) metal guitars? I'm using Softube amp room with like 8 other plugins. Needless to say, its kicking my ass! So much fizz. I'm even using that new W.A. production Deres to help. Plus, UAD compressors.

If by fizz you mean extra noise then I would look into a noise gate to help. I’m not sure if compression would solve much of that issue. You could try to mess with the compression release knob which can help control the tails after the initial transient. Though with so much distortion/drive it will be harder to do so.

You can set a key, yes. I did not have one set in that tune though. Between timing and temp to the right of transport controls you can set it. Then in melodyne you can also set it to link.

Only the lead line has any effects on it (reverb and delay). The two rhythms were just the pedal and amp. Don’t let this video make you pass on the pedal. It lives on my board. Sounds great. Hope this helps 👍
