I read William Farrel from Ellen G. White's "The Great Controversy" and from D'Aubigne's book on Reformation. Farrel is for me one of the greatest courageous spirits of all time, equal to Elijah and John the Baptist. I always think of Farrel's fiery courage and I emulated it.

Hiram Revels was also the founder of Alcorn State and in essence the HBCU landgrant system. He wrote and presented the bill that created Alcorn University which inspired the rest of the 1890 landgrant hbcus.
