Depends on your laser and the leather you’re using. I use 2000 mm/min at 20% for my 10w laser but I recommend making a test pattern for your laser.

Thanks! I use Easel to build the files but I’m using a Raspberry Pi to run my CNC and I haven’t been able to get Easel to successfully connect to the router from the Pi. UGS works from the Pi, no problem. I have a diode laser but have not had success using it on clear acrylic, especially not with various depths. I started with the Genmitsu 3018 CNC router and added the laser module later. This let me use both the CNC router and laser on the same hardware. I’ve since upgraded to the much larger Genmitsu LC-50 laser and love it.

@@PoppysWorkshop Is there any advantage using UGS and Raspbery Pi instead of working from Windows? I'm very passionate about acrylic engraving, and I keep looking for a laser cnc, but not CO2, but unfortunately I haven't found one yet. There are those fiber laser printers, but they are expensive. For the moment i think the best option for me will be Genmitsu 3020 Pro Max. I saw on youtube a method to engrave acrylic with the cnc like Genmitsu LC-50. Under the acrylic you put a piece of very black paper. This method seems to give good results. Maybe you can do some tests and put them on the channel. I'm curious what the results will be. I watched a review on the Genmitsu LC-50 and it seems very capable and accurate. Enjoy it and best of luck!

@@MihaiMihai-zw4rz, the main advantage is that I already had the Pi with a touchscreen and it was available to use. My CNCs are in the basement and most of my computers are upstairs. I have since purchased a Linux mini computer to hook to my LC-50 to run Lightburn. It's also hooked up to my home network. If I had it to do again, I would've started with a larger CNC and just saved to buy a laser separately but I wasn't sure I would actually pick up the hobby. One thing about using a laser vs CNC router with acrylic is that it's a lot more difficult to create layers with a laser. Check out my other short (ruclips.net/user/shortszzlRGotvWxI) where I engraved the NASA "meatball" using four layers. That one was a real challenge to get some parts of the image to appear in front of or behind other parts.
