Barbells, Automobiles and Projects
Добавлен 12 окт 2011
This page has mainly been a page to catalogue my lifts throughout the years. As I get closer and closer to 50, being a lifelong natural lifter and having different injuries that tend to pile up, I know I won’t hit the same numbers I did in my prime lifting years but with almost 30yrs of consistent lifting, it doesn’t matter. It’s now about maintaining and still trying to push forward.

Hows the 1000GT holding up? Do you ever feel you'd rather be on something lighter, say an MT 09? Is it top heavy or does it carry its weight low down?
@@raluxgaza I very much enjoy it. I’ve never been on a MT09 so I couldn’t compare them. This doesn’t feel too heavy to me.
@@pryme2013 good to know. Keep riding safe bud
Is HG 250 lighter than Cc2.5 but heavier than Cc2.0?
@@GripperCc yes typically. This particular HG250 has a wider than normal spread which is for sure harder than a 2 so it’s the only gripper I had 20 years ago to bridge a 2 and 3.
@@pryme2013 You did a lot of reps when you were doing grippers. Read and see many who advocate doing many reps on lighter grippers do not give much on closing heavier grippers. You trained very frequently, also not so many days of rest, but ran every day with lighter grippers. I can close a heavy #2 and can almost keep a 2.5 closed for a while after helping to close it with the other hand and then holding it as long as I can manage. Sometimes run several reps on lighter grippers but usually run heavy on harder grippers. Got a HG 250 now that bridges between Cc 2 and Cc 2.5 and will work hard on it. It takes time to build a grip, but I often see those who have built a solid foundation, their grip strength stays the same despite several years of rest, so they don't lose much strength. Hard to know how much to recover, I ride hard one day and rest for 2.5 days and ride again. Been training for a year and seven months now and my goal is a Cc 2.5 but have a No. 3 too! My grippers are T 0.5 1 1.5 2 2.5 3 captain of crush and I have HG 250 and 300. But do you prefer reps on lighter over heavy training or did you do both?
Dude that's insane

This is NOT a how to video. You don’t show the step by step process. You do the work and talk about it after you do it. Pretty good information though
@@patrickjacobs4999 For people that need more of a step by step than this they would be best served bringing their bike to the dealership. This video is a general outline for mechanically inclined people. Thanks for checking it out.
@@pryme2013 I was able to diy it, thank you very much for your passive aggressive response, DH. Just saying that you labeled it as a how to. This not a how to
@@patrickjacobs4999 Actually I didn’t label it as a how to. Read the title again. Maybe you should stop embarrassing yourself.

What do you average on mpgs?
@@alejandrotoledo9975 low to mid 40’s on the freeway and up around 50 cruising back roads. As you seen in this video series I was averaging 54.
Every suzuki i have every owned has been amazing. My only one complaint came from a king quad whos front differential cracked and was not covered by warranty due to my "tires". That said i was towing some heavy shit and likely am the cause. That said, all other cases, suzuki has been nothing shy of perfect. This GSXS1000GT is no different. I love this bike and after my first service had similar results of perfectly clean oil and filter. My aging DR is the same. It still has super clean oil for a thumper and it just never wants to die. Its done the tat a few times, its done hatfield mccoy, its done countless road miles, and it just keeps chunking along. You just can go wrong with suzuki engineering. They are imho some of the best in the world.
@@PaulKind3d very nicely said
@@pryme2013 btw, thanks for this video. I didnt wanna go cracking fairings and your helpful breakdown gave me everything i needed to do the job smoothly. Maybe 1/2 hour from drain to fill. I used a KN filter as it has a much easier to remove and tighten filter as it has the nut welded on the top. Used a gear wrench and it a piece of cake to install. Removal will be easy now too.
@@PaulKind3d Glad it helped you’re welcome!
Good video!
@@perryirons1399 Thank you
People act badly against the mirage thinking a corolla or a civic is the bare minimum for a vehicle. They forgot 30 or 40 years ago. They drive a corolla and civic, those were also just an econobox and on top of that it's dangerous. In the perspective of middle eastern people, the land cruiser is the bare minimum.
@@Dongzzzzzz The mirage is excellent. Miss it
Somehow I've never seen this done before, I'll give it a go next workout. Seems like a great method to progress with grippers that are just out of your ability.
@@EmilBBechGrip Yeah, it worked for me
BTW have you had any weird engine noises like cam chain rattle or loud ticking going on after the 1st oil change? Lot of talk about it. Kind of worried about it.
@@FrankBonessa No I haven’t but I’ve heard of that on the forums
Probably didn't add enough oil. Sometimes you will fill before reaching capacity. Turn over the bike and let it run for a minute to move the oil and top it off.

Hey man! Bought a '24 DL1050DE and it's built for the jolly green giant. Almost 35 in. seat height. Gonna trade it in and lose bigtime on a red GSXS1000GTplus like yours. Hope I love it. Great engine and that beautiful red. Can't wait. Gonna take a long, long ride to the Calif. coast. Perfect bike for it.
It will be a lot better road bike to do that trip on vs the DL. Also much quicker. Smiles for miles have fun. I love every minute on mine
@@pryme2013 BTW, thanks for the info on the fairing. was worried about the oil change. just the left side?
@@FrankBonessa No problem. Yeah you only need to remove the left side.
Dude I have 5 oscillators. Got that one for free. I dooooooo not like it doesn't have VST. And I dooooooo not like three way it feels or is shaped. Im a huge Makita fan btw. The biggest fan. But that shape is fkin awkward and I hate not having variable speed trigger a hen you need finesse, no one wants to adjust a wheel ya know. Love it wad quiet and powerful but not a fan over all. Idk
I love this machine, some days are worse than others tho. After I have cranked out 4 sets you feel it
@@Beardshire it is a good machine for sure.
😂 cutting backwards dude. lol.
how old are you? 52?
@@blakris9382 62
Yep, I agree with others, it's easy and simple (after the second or third time) to remove the fairing and makes it much easier to do the job. I buy the OEM 4 liter oil change kits, you always use 3 liters and have one left over for topping up if you need it, I go with the R9000 full synthetic. I'm at 13K miles, had the dealer do the first 600 mile service, have done the rest myself. One other tip, lay some foil in between the filter and the pipes as you will have oil dripping onto the pipes, it makes cleanup easier and you won't smell burning oil for miles afterwards. Oil changes are easy, just wait until you change the plugs, that's going to make for an interesting video for you..... 😉
@@blandrooker6541 yeah I used the foul in this video. Might be awhile before I need plugs
@pryme2013 heh....10K miles comes sooner than you think on this bike. It seems like a really short service interval for iridium plugs, so I asked a mechanic about it, and it makes perfect sense given that motorcycle engines run a higher RPM on average and run at higher compression than car engines. Oh, and if you're going to do the plugs might as well do the air filter so you don't have to take everything apart twice. 👍
@@blandrooker6541 I’ll be passing 1k miles tomorrow!
Amazingly strong and clean reps!!! Are you like 6'2? How many reps of 100lbs can you do?
Thank you. 6’1” and with 100’s when this video was shot I was doing around 15 reps. At my strongest (but m getting older and declining) I was doing 120’s for 9-10 reps on a low incline. That wasn’t paused though. I have done 7 paused though. Edit I just looked back as I forgot and I did a video of 100’s for 14 paused reps not long after this video
@pryme2013 dang thats really good and i see youve been doing this for years. How often do you hit chest?
Not a single rep was done that day

Gotta watch the video before commenting. I did remove it and yes very easy
When I had my first service done at my dealer, my mate is a service tech there and never removed the fairing to do the oil and filter.
@@tonychettleburgh8953 Yes it’s doable and I would have done it with a different style oil filter wrench.

Worked well for me! Hope it helps. Let me know what you think
@@pryme2013 I actually tryed it with a 3 and came super close to closing it !!! Do you have any tips on how to get better with the left hand ? And thanks ! :)
@@Ivanimirus I have never been able to close my 3(not an easy 3) with my left. I’ve gotten close but I’m so much stronger on right. I’d say just train it more. I never trained left to hit big singles like I did my right. I did more rep work
@@pryme2013 allright I'll try :D And also I believe it helps me a bunch to turn the gripper around and use it upside down so there is more pressure on the upper fingers. I also try progressive overload like pushing with my other hand. And yeah I can get a 3 with my left just above parallel on a good day lol.
If you think the snap on jack is good then the daytona will be the same. Basically the same exact jack
This platform is literally a forever bike, if you do basics , really really hard to kill and value clearance is seldom an issue. Plugs, air and oil filter, fresh oil. And always buy multiple crush washers so you never ever make the choice of reusing old washer. Another note on this bike is pay attention to chain wear. You can get an O-ring chain and counter sprocket and rear chain ring as a kit. Brake pads are standard and easy, replacement before they need it will make rotors last way way past the service internal.
Thank you for this information. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this bike
I have the exact same bike and just did mine last week,Push pin can get damaged easy, I stayed with the Suzuki r5000 oil, On my next service i will use full synthetic. I really can't get a clear answer from other's about what oil i should use.I was told to change my first service with what the manual says then next service use synthetic.Who knows.
The manual doesn’t specify. It just says to change it for the first time at 600mi. As long as the oil you’re using meets the spec it doesn’t matter. With that said, I’ll take Amsoil over the ecstar Dino oil all day every day
I leave mine outside for 2 years straight and I lifted the entire rear of my 1-ton dump with a quarter of a cord of fire wood. It stayed lifted for 2 days while I built the rear axle.
Very good testimonial. That’s impressive
By the back?!? Ahh so… Lift the other end.
I have the silver 3-ton, an older model from Harber Fright. Mine are still lifting my Super Duty's also! Great floor jacks!
That jack is the clone of the strap-on jack, they are both made in the same factory and the only difference is the stickers. Oh and $250 vs $1200
When I bought it they were 179.99
That's the jacks used in my high school shop, 10 years old when I started, proper maintenance, usage, and cleaning will keep any tool going

Yeah you’re right it is super clean. I keep my stuff clean and my garage clean. I don’t like a dirty workspace. I actually have a video of it way back when I first got it in 2016 I believe
@@pryme2013 same, people who have dirty, grimy, shops are just lazy. Cleaning your tools is essential for long life of use.

I've had slower cars in the past (probably no quicker or barely quicker than a Mirage) so the power wouldn't both me. It's the lack of insulation against road and engine noise. I've read and watched many reviews and they all comment on the noise. I just don't want to hear it anymore to that level (my 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer was noisy as heck).
It wasn’t that bad really. Much quieter than old cars
The Car Care Nut does NOT recommend doing that "conversion". ruclips.net/video/G_vl2AYe7Yg/видео.html&t
Damn bro... that is strong. I just hit 90x4 for the first time at 180lbs. Hoping to get 120 one day too. (But my gym only goes up to 90s lol)
Keep at it! Just for comparison, I was doing 90’s for 26-27 reps when I was doing these 5 reps paused sets with 120’s or 7-8 reps with 120’s not paused.
