Reliving my youth while building the RC collection I always wanted 1 car at a time! I started with a Schumacher Top Cat back in the 1990's and unfortunately life happened and I had to sell it off. I have dabbled off and on for the past 3 decades in the RC hobby but since COVID I have really gotten the bug once again. I recently picked up my first plane, I am sure that will go smoothly.

My first attempt at a Tamiya Grasshopper. I had shoulder surgery back in November and the plan was for this to be a bit of therapy for me. The kit got done but it was definitely more difficult than I imagined. I have done a handful of kits and this one presented me with the most challenges as I attempt to regain more use of my arm/shoulder. Kit #58346

On my way to 70 mph with this car i have encountered a few speed bumps, the latest being able to keep the car straight. The back end of the car keeps coming loose and I am hoping this steering upgrade will help to fix the problem. If you are interested in this steering kit it can be found on amazon

The last time I had my Traxxas Slash 4x4 out running a 3s lipo battery I broke my front A-Arm. I was finally able to pick up a replacement set for the rears. I will show you how to change the a-arms out in this video. Part#80704

Last time out with my Traxxas Slash I broke the Differential Yoke. Part #6828x I bought the slash for it's durability, so far it hasn't disappointed. I will gladly replace a $6-8 part versus something more expensive. Also, SLASH parts are very readily available.

As clean as my last pass was this time out was the complete opposite. I upgraded the pinion gear to 26t. My steering on this pass was horrible. The good news is I recently got a GoPro Hero 7 Black and was able to capture the run using multiple angles. Tamiya TT-02 speed run was one of my cleanest passes yet. I was able to reach 42 MPH on this run. I am not sure the ESC is going to be able to handle 70 MPH. Since the last time out I’ve shimmed the rear tires, switched to a 63t spur gear, and upgraded the motor mount to a yeah racing. I’ve run the calculations and I should be able to top 40 Mph. funny the inserts for the tires dont come with this, but glad there is slicks in there rather than the tread type, mainly getting before it goes away, the body for the touring cars go away after a couple of years.

You need to get a gyro it'll help they have them for drifting cars just turn it upside down the Carl handled better you have to tune it in though

Did your kit come with the two trail markers and a sticker sheet? Odd question but I always remember these kits to come with them and mine did not.

Hello, do you think this kit would be a good start for beginners? And if I want to build one, are there any extra materials I need? (I saw you using some kind of grease? On the differentials, so I am wondering…)
I think the TRX 4 sport or TRX Chassis Kit would be a better option personally.
@@michaelvesely I would preferably like one that doesn’t have a portal axle. However difficulty wise do you think the Traxxas is more easier to build in comparison to the Axial?

Good evening, and thank you for ur video, Would u still advice to buy this kit? I feel that on every rtr, most of the electronics and other parts i need to change for my own idea of a crawler but kits aren't that many and this one is quite old, but maybe still great. Thanks in advance.

Good run. Time for a smaller spur & pinion. That motor with a 46/46 is good for 120mph

Erik I currently use a 10+ year old sidewinder 5700 kv combo. I sense an upgrade in the not to distant future though.
Put a bl120 on it and a 3s battery with 80c or better and hold on

@@michaelvesely You can turn the epa down on your transmitter. Also use the TSM if you have it. AVC, GYRO something at fast speed will help

That motor should be able to do a lot more, i think that your gearing is holding you back. Try gearing higher by using a pinion with more teeth to reach a greater top speed, the acceleration looks great, but the speed isn't what it should be.

@@michaelvesely the difference in speed is irrelevant tbh, a 2500kv motor can outperform a 5700kv motor with lower temperatures given the proper gearing and using a 3s or 4s lipo, same goes for a 3300kv.
@@michaelvesely ended up making my own RC truck using a 29 tooth pinion and a 2600kv motor. I get up to around 60 mph in it using a 4000 mah 80c 3s lipo.

Nice unboxing bro! Nothing like a fresh brand new RC. I have a soft spot for the Slash 4x4 because it's the first modern brushless Lipo RC I got after being out of the hobby since before Lipo's hahaha in 1995. I ran mine offroad then got into speed running my Slash up to 132Mph. You made a great choice with this truck. They are pretty bulletproof except the plastic driveshafts BUT as long as you stay with the same sized tired roughly the axles hold up. I put one of my Slash's on Mod1 gearing and 6s offroad and the axles snapped instantly. But if you stay on 3s with stock size tires it's more reliable. The esc and motor get hot on warm days. Get a Traxxas esc fan. Keep an eye on the temps of the motor and esc...but you probably know all this because your son has one. Anyways I enjoyed the unboxing. 😃👍
The weather is finally cooperating here to get out and do some driving. I would like to do a speed test up against his to see what the difference is.
