Perfect tutorial. I'm finding an issue with combining two shapes with different line thicknesses. The Pathfinder command converts both shapes into one line thickness & tosses the other one.

Brand new here, spent half a day looking for this information thank you for posting

Unfortunately it is not clearly explained here so I had figure this out myself... there are THREE lines...two of them change the direction of the text and then a third longer one which you need to grab at the end of and try to bring it inwards...

I have very simple and legit solution. You need to go to window- then search for Appearance panel. Open it, Add stroke and fill from that panel to text. Drag stroke layer from appearance panel below fill layer, That's it. Hope this helped.

2024 May - Update on how to move incremental. In the top right corner you'll an icon that looks like a magnet that it's on its side. It is the "Align " option DESELECT that stupid thing and you'll be back in business. It took about an hour of search, i.e., RUclips vids, websites, and forums. Finally found my answer. I hope this helps someone and saves you time. Later.
