MTB Switzerland - Aletsch Arena - Mussfluh to Riederalp
Full POV run from the ridgeline above the Aletsch Glacier at the peak of Mossfluh, down to the alp at Riederalp, which is about half way to the valley.
Check out the other videos that start at Fiescheralp, Riederalp etc for the second half of these rides - at 1700m (vertical height) of descent, riding in this area is immense and full-on from top to bottom - and the views are amazing.

MTB Switzerland - Aletsch Arena: Fiescheralp toward Fiesch

POV of the descent from Fiescheralp down to Fiesch - part of the Aletsch Arena, and site of one leg of the 2024 EWS (in fact one of the trails in the video was on the EWS route). This video is part of a suite of videos from the area, which I split into parts. Simply put - videos such as the one from Bettmeralp drop from the top of the ridge high above the Aletsch Glacier down to the Alp below w...
MTB Switzerland - Aletsch Arena: Bettmerhorn to Riederalp

POV of riding the Bettmeralp trail along the ridge above the aletsch glacier in Switzerland. This was just one of the upper tier trails above the Glacier leading down onto the plateau below, which then lead down to another 1000m of descent to the valley floor. These were massive trails and this is the biggest one of all - an amazing ride, amazing scenery and beautiful trail.

MTB / VTT Switzerland - Schwarzsee Ridge to Zermatt

This is the full run from Schwartsee (2583m) down the Schwartsee Ridge and into Furi (1867m) and then on to Zermatt (1655) - yes that's 928m descent on mostly singletrack - and this isn't even one of the most popular trails in the area. There is combined footage from two very differen runs: the first; our first run on our first day in the mist, and the second the next day on a lovely blue sky d...
Mtb Zermatt - Hermetje Alp Trail from Schwartsee

POV of the run from near the top of the Schwartsee lift down the left side of the Schwartsee ridge on the Hermetje Alp trail - there are some steep bits! (especially toward the end) but there is a lot of beautiful alpine meadow fast singletrack too, and July is the best time to go ride it. This trail ends (?) at the join with the Schwartsee Ridge trail just above the treeline - you can watch th...
MTB Switzerland - Zermatt: Riding the Hobbit and YoYo Trails to Zermatt

This is a full run POV starting right at the Schwarzsee Lift, and running down the Hobbit Trail to Stafel, then tracks and trails to teh Zmutt Dam which we crossed to get to the second half of the YoYo trail, which we followed into Zermatt. At the time of riding (July 2024) the top half of teh YoYo trail had been closed due to landslides across it and so this was the best way to enjoy some of t...
Mountain Bike Zermatt: Blauherd To Sunegga (and Beyond!)

This is a full POV of our run from teh Blauherd Lift Station down the direct trail to Sunegga, and then some bonus footage of the trail carrying on down from there and meeting the traversing trail across the mountaiin under Sunegga connecting to the Sunegga Flow and Brown trails. (The Sunegga Brown and Flow Trails are on separate videos - see below) This is one of a set of POV films from around...
MTB Switzerland - Zermatt - Sunegga Flow Trail

This video concentrates on the Sunegga Flow trail and follws it from the start on a small col just below the Sunegga lift all the way down to the bottom, just above Zermatt itself. It's a huge trail and while it starts eemingly just zig-zagging the piste trail, it soon heads into the forest and traverses too, diving from alpine meadow to alpine meadow through bermed switchbacks galore! If sligh...
MTB Switzerland - Zermatt - Sunegga Natural Trails
Просмотров 293 месяца назад
This is a POV of an alternate natural trail down from Sunegga using bits of the Sunegga Flow trail, but crucially diving 'off-piste' for some steep, gnarly, tree-dodging loam coasting instead of following the groomed and baked flow trail. It was an absolute delight to ride and proved a great preparation for us to head onto longer gnarlier trails elsewhere on the trip. This is one of a set of PO...
MTB Switzerland - Zermatt - Marmot trail and Grundsee to Zermatt
Просмотров 423 месяца назад
This is a POV of trails linking from the Blauherd Lift and accessing parts of the scenic Marmot Trail, and the 4 Lakes trail, before diving off on to one of the numerous unnamed trails and on to the Findelalp Trail to Zermatt. Once we dive off the main 4 lakes trail at Grunsee, the trail takes a big turn for the steep and narrow, and just keeps getting steeper and narrower as it goes. This rout...
Switzerland Mountain Bike - Destination Zermatt

These are POV highlights of a trip in Late July 2024 to ride trails above Zermatt. Most of the famous trails had been washed out in recent storms and the railway to the Gornergrat was closed entirely to riders, but as you'll see: we found singletrack gold all over the mountains above Zermatt - some of the days descent stats were staggering. We rode paths, Trails, singletrack and purpose built b...

Superb descent - and nice video capturing it :)
@@crispinbennett7152 cheers Crispin - there are a lot to choose from, but This is one of my faves
Super impressive ride. I’ve done much of that and it’s super steep in places. Better than any bike park.
it really is, cheers Neale!
You need a camera mount. All the important scenes were not filmed because you need 2 hands.
Tested and 100% better - lovely and smooth
Hola mi maneta pierde presion cundo la dejo apretada puede ser por el diaframa gracias
Thanks! Just recently had a similar situation. You helped me to understand the construction of that diaphragm and that oil can come out under pressure around that rubber peripheria. I charged my brake system and it was OK. When I changed new pads it turned out to be over pressure in the system and a bit of oil was thrown out of that diaphragm. it works now but not satisfied with the handbrake range with the old support.
was up glen tilt a few weeks ago and spotted exactly that ridge you came down, too. But i was more thinking about hiking up it rather than riding down it. What an adventure, thanks for sharing, glad I saw the video.
Looking at the maps, the ridge you went down is pathless (evident from your video), but there are two paths coming down on ridges further to the north-east leading to a bridge to cross the tilt - ever done those? And are there actually paths? Maybe even ridable ones? If anyone knows...
@@Chris_Knopf I've not ridden or walked those (maybe another time!) - thanks for the comments
Thanks for sharing. I lost my grub screw. Can you please share the Shimano part number for a replacement?
thanks!
Is this the same for Deores as well?
@@jongoverthebars3572 it would have to be very similar as the end of the cylinder is pretty much the same - the grub screw would be he tell
Looks awesome Steve. 😊
@@JasonChambersPhoto I was a bit nervous at first just folloewing a little brown line into the woods that high up, but so glad we did - loam for miles!
You are slightly wrong there's no pressure created in the area of the bladder. It is there to compensate for the oil used from piston displacement and it is effectively filled with atmosphere pressure through the end hole and stops the system cavitating. All the pressure is applied by the internal piston passing the oil way holes, sealing off the circuit and continuing to push transfers the pressure throughout the system and as the only moving part from then on it pushes the piston out. I appreciate your video for the tip of getting it out though so thanks.
Thanks Aidie - this will help others understand better whats' happening in there if they need to: much appreciated.
Just come back from the Alps - 5 days of 4000 - 6000m of descent a day - I feel this has now been tested 😅 - it works
What is the part number for the diaphragm for a Slx M7000 lever
@@valyuson7594 I used the M9100 part - the packaging has a bunch of numbers on it. I think the part number is: Y1XJ98030
Which XT is yours? M8000 or M8100? The diaphragm fits well, dispite the pachage says M9100?
NEW SUBSCRIBER!!! Keep shredding man !!!👌👌👌👌👌👌
Fantastic looking trails!
They are amazing, and they change with the conditions a lot. The weekend was dry and slippy but fast, but now its rained a little they will be wet and slippy and fast 😆😆
Very boring music.... sorry
Difficult to balance one person's chilled is another's boring - thanks for the feedback; I'll bear it in mind next time
Nice job!
ooh from a pro ❤️ - You're too kind
I found myself in the same situation. I couldn’t find the part for the XT brakes but I found it for the XTR. Slightly different but I thought it was worth a try. I just finished it and about to install it back on the bike. I see that you also have the XTR part which is slightly different. Any issues long term?
Not so far - definitely some differences in fit but no leakage as yet.
I am going trought the same problem. My brake is a XT M8000 and I just can find for M9100 (as the vídeo) and for XT M8100. I just cant figure out if fits well.
@@gustavoebo9002 I’m not sure about the 8000-9000 compatibility, but I can confirm that the 8100-9100 are cross compatible
@@ariskardas thanks for confirming that - it will help others on this thread
@@realworldriding2601 Will this part number work on the MT-7100?
Hi there, thanks for the video, where do you get the diaphrams from?
They came from ebay - here's a link that will get you to the right search page: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226091151764?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=uapkhczhs6i&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=E9nmNkuBRt2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
They came from ebay - there is a lot of choice
I inspected it and mine had a small pinhole in it. The plastic it wad covering had a small mold defect and poked a hole in it. Thank for this very informing video. Without I would not have been brave enough to tackle this. Cheers
You're welcome! - Glad it helped, well done
Im replacing mine right now. I took off the lever and the plastic shim underneath where the metal dowl pin goes. Its much easier to access.
I can find the grub screw on the slx but not xt ?
It seems to not necessarily be a slx or xt thing, but the version - I'm afraid I have an XT lever with the grub screw, and one without...
Awesome single track descent. Well ridden. Good choice on that rock drop at the end. Cheers. Stoozer. 👍🏻
Cheers! - yup ai reckon that rock drop to the track has had a fair few victims 😮
Good decision. 😃@@realworldriding2601
Excellent video. Top effort getting up there AND riding in those conditions. I must do this in better weather. Really enjoyed this. Cheers. Stoozer. 🤠
Cheers @bigstoozeradventures !
NOTE if ypu only release the grub screw rather than remove it you wont have the same issues replacing it afterward!
Have now been running this lever for about 6 months, as a guide: take it from me; this has worked - good luck folks!
Great video, is there a komoot/strava etc. map of your route?
Hi Rob - Firstly: Thanks!! (Thought it was a bit ropy meself 😄) - secondly - it will be in Clackmannanshire collection on my Real World Riding profile in Komoot very soon (I took a wee diversion mid route which was a little too 'interesting' to be considered a legitimate route. Here's the link: www.komoot.com/collection/2569738/-clackmannanshire-collection
Here's the link for the route - finally got it plotted: www.komoot.com/tour/1448137644?ref=wtd&share_token=aHgD3p4CD5EElOYYHYHW8caVJ8gXMERnwf7SQSEDX58Z0Do46K
Thats look stunning. 👌
It was a turning point in the journey - an absolutely amazing ride - and this was only the morning!
Oof that looks rough
Ha ha!! - it was in places, but not as rough as heading the other way off the bealach into Glen Doll! - thanks for watching
@@realworldriding2601 gave me some ideas but looks a bit tough for me have you tried Jocks Road up glen Doll?
@@Puffball-ll1ly From the bothy down starts super super techy and a bit 'Danny McAskill' for me, but then once in the valley it's lovely, however last time I was there (just after the big storms) it had a lot of trees down over it, although it may well have been cleared by now. The trail in the video IMO is a bit rougher and steeper but if taken steadily not too bad in comparison to Jocks road.
Komoot took me on the left fork into unrideable steepness. Will have to do your route. Video settings need work! Inspirational though.
Cheers Neale - pls dm me what you want me to change in my settings - never get feedback for this stuff and it would be helpful
Komoot definitely needs checking - have been sent on one or two random trails by it: Its Ben Chonzie route was a doozie
Did your route yesterday and loved it. Slower obviously! No settings expert, just started GoPro learning from youtube and books.
damn old stomping grounds!! Living in states now and haven't been back since but damn i would enjoy some of that riding
This trail looks awesome 🔥
Can be an effort getting up there, but always worth it!

likewise Jose - between you and Alberto I had an amazing couple of days, thank you so much!
Looks like a fun place to ride.
Great video. That is a really technical descent! Will be doing Glen Sligachan this year. 👍🏻
Some awesome single track at the beginning on this adventure. Great stuff. Love that long descent. Really enjoyed this. Cheers. Stoozer. 🤠
Cheers Stoozer🤘
E bikes for more riding!
Great for getting the mileage in, multiple runs, exploring, and when you have a limited amount of time.
If you're watching this and it's really poor quality, then I apologise - on behalf of RUclips - it has been running on 1080p for some time, but seems to be in 240p right now which is pretty depressing considering the work that went into this - My apologies. The rest of the chanel (as far as I am aware) is not affected by this but please leave a comment if you find any more and I will try to re-upload as many videos as possible - none of us subscribe to RUclips to watch videos of this poor quality.
Omg! Omg!!! :-) Fantastic!!!
Beautiful area!
I'm very lucky to live just at the bottom
Well I was absolutely gripped watching this from start to finish. I am very familiar with this landscape and was really curious about your adventure. You had me on the edge of my seat at times taking on those really steep off piste sections. There must have been moments where you thought; Oh no that is going to be some haul if I have to turn back. But you made it. Wonderful adventure. Absolutely loved it. Cheers. Stoozer. 👍🤠
That's brilliant, thanks for the feedback! Yes there were definitely some 'puckering moments' and tbh one little very narrow, rough and steep bit high up where I walked it - it was really windy and the consequences were just not worth it. I'd spotted the line from the other side of the valley a couple of years ago so I was confident, but you never really know until you get there. Thanks again
@@realworldriding2601 My pleasure. Great to watch. 🤠
Awesome video Steve, thanks for sharing. Those trails look mint and that afternoon light was so nice.
Cheers Jason - took an age to go through the footage of so much great riding - and I always find it difficult to leave stuff out! What an awesome trip
This was such a good trip 👌
it really was wasn't it 🙂🙂
Excellent!
Looks like an awesome trail. Hope to ride more Scotland trails soon. 😊
This one is amazing - part of a mind-blowing day and an amazing couple of days
Well you were certainly off piste! looks a bit shit to be honest, the classic descent is down the trail you hike a biked, this has great riding, from the col traverse on the singletrack to the left contouring Cairn Liath.
Looked awesome from the other side of the valley, and was a great adventure - didn't set out to go the classic way but it does look like a good route right enough
@@realworldriding2601 Having an Adventure is what it's all about! I have found that some of the best descents in Scotland tend to be old stalkers paths, in the Cairngorms there are an abundance of these.
