300,000 miles on my 2002 1MZ-FE and runs like the day I bought it. Original suspension, alternator, A/C compressor. In 22 years, besides normal maintenance items, I've replaced one APR, both knock sensors and the MAF. That's it.

Escape (kuga here in the uk) is definitely one of the best cars regarding reliability… ALTHOUGH, i will stick up for you in one respect the escape you have baught is trash, the ecoboost engine is so bad its nickname is ecoboom and the auto gearbox is chocolate BUT buy it with the 2.0tdci diesel engine and a manual box and your need to go a long way to beat it, my personal one has had just general servicing and a clutch and flywheel replacement last month had its 2nd cambelt and waterpump and its just turned over 365000 miles its cost me naff all in the 10years ive had it considering the mileage its gave me 👍

A tech came to my house to replace the mother board on the computer, he was driving an Escape with a Ecoboost engine, I asked him how many miles was on it 345k, mostly interstate in West Virginia and a oil change every 5k, original transmission 😏

Now cost 9k

Escuse me ive got a Question, i own a1.6 Sidekick, i could get my hands on a 2.0 Manual Transmission, do you happen to know if the 2.5 and the 2,7 V6 (H25a / H27a) compatible with the 2.0 Transmission? and are the engine mounts the same. im highly cosidering doin a 2.5 or 2.7 conversion on my Sidekick.

I have a 2017 Ford escape only issue is the low beam lights burn out really quick.

I’ve had 5 Fords. All were mideoker except the Escape. It sucked horribly. Had to have the dealership replace the cam phaser three times within the first 6 months (all under warranty). The warranty is expired now and I have worked my ass off keeping this car operating. Ford quality has dropped like a rock.

My escape 190k still running, very well maintained and taken care, oil and filters changed regularly, with no delays. I would recommend to get 2.0L instead of 1.5L

Have a 2008 hybrid escape and the only issues I’ve had is having to replace the window motors after the windows all dropped at various times. $50 dollar part (x 4).

The 2014 was the first year for this generation of Ghibli and the first cars were problematic. They got progressively better over the years with 2017 being a real turn-around for the brand. Maybe not Honda-type reliability but certainly an order of magnitude better than previous years.

I have a 2016 with 135k miles, no issues what so ever. The AC is blowing cold with original transmission.

2004 Highlander owner here. The most reliable care I have ever owned. 20 years old and I would bet my bottom dollar it’s more reliable than whatever GM or Kis product you could buy new today. Buying the cheapos from the dealer auction is not a good sample. Odds are that they never maintained their transmission. One these guys if you don’t drain and fill the tranny ever, it will probably take a dump at 200K. However you are saying shudder which to me seems like you drive it differently than what it is accustomed to or really aggressively? Also you can go to Toyota’s website, enter the VIN, and get the correct part or at least part number. Toyotas like OEM parts. It sounds like you are trying aftermarket parts which is like buying plastic utensils to replace your silverware. They may function the same and do the job for a bit but there is a reason why Toyotas are reliable.

The escape is a great vehicle. You may need some more training.

Just stumbled across your video thank you that is a very informative. I have an 04 Highlander with 402,000 mi on it still going. Regarding the transmissions I agree they are wonky as heck. I believe Toyota put out a TSB that stands for technical service bulletin. The TSB addresses shifting characteristic issues. This is done by reflashing the ECU module or transmission module. I have had mine done and it still shifts like crap. Hope this comment helps

2001-2004 3.0 engine, potential engine issues. Hybrids if older could present some concerns. 2005-2007 updated to 3.3 engine which took care of the potential oil issues of the 3.0. I have owned a 2003 and did religious oil changes and replaced the pcv valve to avoid the oil issues. Awesome car!!! Just outgrew. Brother in law had a 2005 3.3 v6 non-hybrid and amazing! Still going and over 225k. Transmission issues in 2005 has raised some flags, but I’ve not seen it with our limited history. A/C and heat can have issues with wiring that jiggles loose over time. I soldered mine for $12 and put back together as I found the vid on RUclips and issues on forums. In CO, there are a lot of 1st gens and miles are 180-270k easily. As a dealership… ugh, legit, this would suck on what is describe in the vid.
