5 *LIFE CHANGING* habits that got me into medical school
Before I discovered these transformative habits, I felt lost, weighed down by self-doubt, and often abandoned my goals before seeing them through. Implementing these habits completely changed the trajectory of my life. They helped me become the driven, focused version of myself that gave 100% towards my dreams-and getting into medical school became a byproduct of that growth. When people say, “act successful to be successful,” they’re really talking about building the habits, routines, and systems that empower you to become the best version of yourself.

Wow. Great tips.
Tip number one: have rich indian parents who participate in classism and corrupt religion
i loved this video and how it got straight to the point, thank you!💞
This was great! Do you do consultations or coaching?
I do!
@@monikabapna Awesome just followed on IG!
Hi thank you for the video! My question to you is if you’re starting from 0 and you haven’t taken any upper div courses but these postbaccs require you to have Gen chem , ochem, bio, physics, math. They claim to accept that these courses can be done online through extension courses or accredited units. Would you suggest doing these courses through an extension school in 6 months or taking them all in person which could take 3 years for me. My second question is that why are people taking a post bacc if you meet the course requirements. Is it for GPA boosting? Or more of a help to get into a US med school? Thank you for the video
I would recommend taking them in person even though it takes longer. The point of these courses is to show that you can handle rigorous, in-person science coursework, which closely resembles the demands of medical school. Regarding your second question, people pursue post-bacc programs for various reasons. Some aim to boost their GPA, especially if their undergraduate grades were not strong enough to make them competitive for medical school. Others use post-baccs to complete prerequisites they didn’t take during undergrad, or demonstrate recent academic excellence, which is really important for med school admissions. Hope this helps!
Monika do you have an excel sheet for marking what we got wrong on uworld or NBME forms? Bc this strategy I’ve only seen applied to NBME forms
i used the same strategy/excel sheet for uworld! Only difference is that in the excel sheet i showed i separated questions based on P/C, CARS etc but instead for Step 1/Step 2 i separated based on different subjects/organ systems
This is a golden video - thank you so much 👏🏽
You will be a Doctor I am looking for myself and my children: fully dedicated to this career, extremely knowledgeable, true professional. It is so hard nowadays to find such doctors, who are not just inspired by prestigious careers and good income, but who truly wants to become the best professionals to help others 👍
@@TetianaM-jz9uc this comment truly made my day thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video!!! Very helpful
Hi thanks
Hi
Mam is there 100% scholarship for pre med i am from India please 😢help me
the best advice is don't be afraid be grounded be humble be confident and happy and be you.
yes true I thought medicine was the hardest end all be all subject in all the world and life. turns out its very simple. its the health care system that is dilapidated, corrupt, dysfunctional, and run by a bunch of money sucking nepotism psychopaths.
I love how you dedicated a video specifically about mcat and med school resources. thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you for this!
Why Don’t We Have this kind of integrated Medicine Program in india neither any pre med school neither anything like D.O anyone plzz ??
Your video couldn't have come at a better time for me! Thank you!
Watching this as an aspiring medical student, I truly appreciate the honest advice. It's refreshing to hear real insights on improving MCAT scores. Thanks for keeping it real
I know this video is from years ago, but stumbling upon it now has been a huge help. Thanks for sharing your insights!
Heyyy I want to be an obgyn so which major should I choose in pre-med..
Hi beautiful, hey, so will work experience in the field, along with the prerequisets make for a stronger application over someone who does not have work experience but went to a strong pre med program ?
Thanks for sharing your personal journey with us
Thank you so much for this video! The tips were so helpful!!
How did you review CARS questions, e.g., reasons for why you missed the question?
P r o m o S M 😩
Great advice! Would you recommend reviewing the AAMC outline? If so, for how long?
I didn’t really review the outline so I wouldn’t be able to say!
@@monikabapna Thank you so much!
I love your videos <3 thank you!!
So if the postbac programs takes 2+ years, they will give you a masters degree?
Depends on the program but many do!
I think it’s so depressing thinking about how med school and the medical field in general, just beats the students down with so much dread, fear and anxiety throughout the study years. I’m going to apply for med school (transitioning from years in tech) and it’s crazy how stressed everyone is around me. Maybe a video on why the medical field gate keeps so much 😂
The process is definitely tough but worth it! Also welcome to the field :)
Please make videos of dedicated periods of study. Also schedule and study resources. Thank you.
Happy to see you are doing well! Don't forget to touch some grass while you study. For what it's worth, I found Step 2 to be a lot easier than Step 1. Is Step 2 also pass/fail these days or do you get a numerical result?
Thank you! And we get a numerical score for Step 2! Which is why its so terrifying because its one of the only scores we have when we apply.
@@monikabapna Hello Monika are you Indian your accent is like a british or American
My favorite girl <3
Aww this was so nice!!! Thank you for sharing these moments with us!!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗
Awww this is so sweet!!! And the apartment is so beautifullll I can't believe they put so much effort and thought into decorating and designing it with the whole elegant and chic style!!!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗
Did you work while in med school? If not how were you/other medical students able to pay for your apartments, food etc?
New sub, I want to celebrate you on your journey 🎉
Hi, Monika, I love your videos. I would also love to know which majors you think are good for premed or ones you would recommend.
You really can pick any major as a premed which is the best part! If it's something in science - biochem or chem are always good because you are going to be doing quite a few classes in that as part of your premed requirements. A lot of people also do psychology! But if you are interested in anything else not science related that is nice as well because you can take a break from all the science you are doing!
Since you’re taking a research year, what specialty are you interested in (if you’re sharing!)?
Not sharing speciality just yet!
What speciality are u interested in? Do u read over med school apps?
Not sharing speciality yet but I am happy to give advice about applications. You can email me at monika.bapna25@gmail.com
@@monikabapna thank u I will be sending u an email soon! Also it would be helpful if u could make a video on personal statements!
What specialty are u interested in?
this is a great video!!! I am a senior in high school. Not sure if you will see this because you posted it 3 years ago lol, but instead of just majoring in bio could I double major with bio as one of them? Or have a concentration? I am planning on majoring in biochem, but if i double majored would it actually be worth it/ or med committees reviewing my application see it as bland even though there is another major also to add I plan on going to a top med school and not sure if they look for double major, I got into a great school but can't afford it so i will just be going to my state university
I think you have to decide on why you want to double major - if there is another subject you really want to learn more about or to make your application more competitive. If it is the latter, I don't know how much double majoring will help with that just by itself. Ultimately, I think the strongest applicants have very strong narratives and clearly defined out 'why' they ended up pursuing what they did. I hope that helps!
just wanted to say I'm in my m1 year and I remember watching your mcat videos back when I was struggling with mcat prep - they were so helpful and I am so glad that you're posting again!! thanks for sharing your perspectives about life as an M3, it seems so different from preclinical years and I appreciate the insight, even this early in the game!
This made my day, thank you! I hope M1 is going well for you!!
Going from a tech background to now seriously considering med school (my current masters program has a few physician profs who are really pushing me to go to med school) and being worried about the fact that I may not be good enough to study/memorize and stress like a med student lol Your videos are a good start for me to think about what kind of life I may get myself into, mad respect!
It can be hard to make that pivot and I’m so glad the videos are helping! Let me know if you had any additional questions!
@@monikabapna I would be fascinated to hear what the financial situation looks like for going to med school as a whole. I’ve already pulled loans for BS/MS and now possibly MD so it would be interesting to see how you went through that journey, thanks!

hello mam great video ! i needed some help regarding international medical student in usa.... ik the usmle pathway but i was rather thinking of taking pre med course... will that be a good descision if live in india currently ?
I am not sure if I am the best person for questions about international students but typically most US medical schools require that your premedical course work is done in the US!
oh ok mam thank you for your great help@@monikabapna
This helped; I want to do physics, but am consistently clouded with uncertainty do you think it is possible to do?
I like physics too! My #1 advice is to talk to your premed advisor, they can go over a 4 year plan with you that will cover all of the classes you need. (if your school doesn’t have one there are free ones online) That said, it’ll be more difficult, I majored in psychology and even though psychology is basically 1/4 of the MCAT, I’ve been studying nearly full time for ~ 6 mo to get to my goal score. I’d encourage you to go for physics! But remember that the medical stuff is really important knowledge
hey monika, super helpful video! i was wondering what you thought about how to begin approaching practice questions in Uworld. would you start with just a few sets at a time? timed or untimed? review during or after? did you make your review sheets even during this period, or only once you felt you had a good grasp of the platform and your schedule? let me know!
Do you work while going to med school?
Thank you for your optimism! It really helped me! :))
